31. ehud, you deserter and turncoat... at least be quiet
aaron ,   ra'anana   (07.30.06)
32. i am truly sorry
aaron ,   ra'anana   (07.30.06)
That now we are going to kowtow to foreign pressure and stop the operations. The dead in Kana are the wives and children of Hezbollah, the Hezbollah cowards launched rockets from civilian areas (and mosques). All civilian areas and mosques where rockets are fired should be turned to dust
33. armchair heroics
Michael ,   Haifa   (07.30.06)
Hundreds of thousands, if not millions, are suffering on both sides ,and the heroic armchair belligerents of either side keep spewing out their hateful frustrations here in talkback. Maybe, they could call a moratorium on their sick pathologies until this is all over .
34. Poor poor innocents ....
Dan ,   No Pity USA   (07.30.06)
Such a waste of a life...such sad catastrophic losses. All those dead women and children who were protecting Hizullah! The warning to leave must not have reached their ears or eyes. The fact that they were sheltering rocket launchers must not have been important. This is what happens when HIzbullah uses 'innocents' as human shields. They die. Too bad no one in the world has had such an outcry over a single dead Israeli. Jews and Arabs who were all innocent victims of Hizbullah rocket attacks have been killed in Israel and without the warning from Hizbullah that this was a targeted area...unlike the 'innocent Arabs' who were told to evacuate. Olmert you did a good job. Now keep it up and flatten Southern Lebanon! Innocent Arabs will actually listen to you and leave. Smart Lebanese Arabs will join you and fight Hizbullah themselves. Had Hizbullah not started somehting there would be no 'innocent victims.' Too bad the press will never report an outcry about innocent Israeli victims.
35. Watch the Terrorists in the attack!
Not the real picture   (07.30.06)
Look, these are the ones launching the missles on Israel! http://www.panet.co.il/intervideo/news-30-07-06.wmv
36. I'm I the only who understands this?
Martin   (07.30.06)
Hizbullah just wants this war to end because they are losing. What's the best way to end it? Make Israel retreat due to the World's request. How do to it? Well in this case all they need to do is to take a few lebanese civillians (which Hizbullah doesn't really care about, their objectives are coming from Iran\Syria anwyay) and just hold them hostage at the location of a missile launcher.. Israel which just wants to live in peace sends a bombing mission to destroy that missile launcher, I believe this action is 100% understandable by all right? even to those fanatics.. missiles at Israeli cities -> bomb missile launcher to stop the firing. But hey look at that, Hizbullah concentrated a nice amount of civillians near there launching site. What do you want Israel to do? Just sit their while their soldiers are being kidnapped unprovoked and while their cities are bombed?! Don't forget about the 2 kidnapped soldiers, don't forget who started this and don't forget who's killing all those lebanese civillians. Hizbullah must be destroyed so this won't happen again, Iran is intentionally sacrifising Lebanon to justify their future acts. Hope you're not all blind.
37. Remember who started this war
Joe ,   Israel   (07.30.06)
People keep on forgetting who started this war. Kidnapping and killing on the border. Without provocation. Remember....
38. if israel loses , the west is finished.
(07.30.06)
39. Don't hide among civilians, civilians won't get killed
Talula ,   Israel   (07.30.06)
It's really as simple as that.
40. WE STAND BY YOU ISRAEL. BRAVO!
stephane ,   france   (07.30.06)
we know that you're not responsible for deaths of lebanese civilians.we know that hezbollah use them as "inhuman shields".keep on fighting,we're proud of you!
41. Killing Fields of Lebanon
anna ,   france   (07.30.06)
Isreal cannot win as they have already lost the media war.. I think the arrogance of the isreali goverment and its illegal occupation of Palistian lands is a shameful moment in world history. God Bless the lebonese and the people of palastine. And all civilians who suffer oppression by the cruel apartied state of isreal. The world knows despite orwellian media controls of whats going on in the middle east.
42. Children
Margalit   (07.30.06)
Disgrace to IDF; 22 children killed in this single airstrike. There is no single excuse on that
43. To 2 your math is very bad
Da dude   (07.30.06)
Two things, 1)the IDF has killed more around 250 hizb'allah terrorists. 2)The entire civilian death count is based on what hizb'allah say's. The lebanese officials collect and then estimate the total death count. And then Hizb'allah give's it's death count. That number is subtracted from the civilian death count. Now if you can't see the problem with this system, then you should go back to the first grade.
44. #1 - Legally speaking - it is a war crime
Kate ,   Jerusalem   (07.30.06)
Mike - thank you for the "sentence" - but you have failed to justify the accusation with some facts - so here is for the record:- Geneva Convention IV - part II, article 15 defines civillians as: "civilian persons who take no part in hostilities, and who, while they reside in the zones, perform no work of a military character." Many of the Lebanese "civillians" killed in the war so far have been actively involved in the conflict - some even as members of Hizbullah. Part II - article 27 further prevents combatants from using "civillian" presence as a legal wall against attacks (otherwise known as "human shielding"). ..."Art. 28. The presence of a protected person may not be used to render certain points or areas immune from military operations." But of course this hasn't stopped the world media from crying foul against Israel. "Art. 34. The taking of hostages is prohibited." That sort of speaks for itself. And the clincher? The Third Geneva Convention:- (applying directly to Hizbullah) "2) Members of other militias and members of other volunteer corps, including those of organized resistance movements, belonging to a Party to the conflict and operating in or outside their own territory, even if this territory is occupied, provided that such militias or volunteer corps, including such organized resistance movements, fulfil the following conditions:[ (a) that of being commanded by a person responsible for his subordinates; (b) that of having a fixed distinctive sign recognizable at a distance; (c) that of carrying arms openly; (d) that of conducting their operations in accordance with the laws and customs of war." But lets be honest - Hizbullah could break every single rule in the conventions - and there is little we can do about it. I don't think sending them a copy of the conventions in Arabic would have much an effect.
45. WHAT IF
Anne   (07.30.06)
say for one week, all our press reports were WITH us and not against us. You just have to hear the(deliberately) horrified voice of Mz Y. Dan of Galei Zahal just a few moments ago, to see who she encourages/wants/urges us to side with. Now just imagine that all these types, even if its pretend, reported in tones that say 'I'm with my people and I want to point this out'. I can see you all smiling, as it's so ludicrous. THAT, friends is our problem. Nothing else, and because of THEM/YOU, our name stinks (sorry) in the world. No other reason. Dont think that 'they' like you for it. Quite the opposite. They scoff you, as you are so transparently trying to curry favour with those who will always hate you.
46. Hizzbullah who hide behind women and children like cowards!
(07.30.06)
47. #13
(07.30.06)
Even if they dropped leaflets, there is no way that they could escape, because all the roads are blocked, and even if they managed, IDF targets their cars claiming that they carry missles .... The fact remains that it was an israeli missle which killed 55 people out of which 27 are children, and another fact remians that IDF was so coward to go on with its ground operations, after the hummiliation they faced against real fighters, that they got back to the safety of their f16s and back to targeting civilians ..... The pathetic thing is that u jews and some americans (jews again) are so arrogant that u can't see the truth. All ur actions will be turned against u one day.
48. re:shame on you(#7)
Norbert ,   Romania   (07.30.06)
Just wait and see our anger -(a nation who lost 6 millions just 60 years ago!!!!!)for loosing our boys and children and elderly....And for what?As a reward for evacuating Lebanon and Gaza???Kidnapping and killing soldiers ment someone wanted negotiantions???Or firing rockets into towns-full of civilians??/You expect kindness???Be prepared to pay for playing with fire.Shame on you muslims for leting your children die instead of putting them into shelters or evacuating them from the battlefield.Shame on you for not recognizing that you attacked civilians all the times and by all means. It's time to pay and hope the world- you mention-- will wake up and understant who's the liar here!!!!!
49. Qana
jean marie ,   france   (07.30.06)
I remember during the war between Iran and Irak (1979) the pasdarans, the guards of islamic revolution pull children of 12/14 years old front of them before attack against irakis soldiers. Why? because there were "lands of mines" different conception of the life and of the death.
50. A second Bint Jbeil? No!

One Bint Jbeil was more than enough! Qana had enough warning heard!

YOUR AN IDIOT AND A TRAITOR!!!SO STAY IN JAPAN AND BECOME JAPANESE .WE CANT STAND YOU
53. Olmert is justifying the killing of children! He should GO!
Proud Grandpa ,   www.KingArik.net   (07.30.06)
He is draggin us like a loose canon to the worst hell we ever saw in Lebanon. It would effect the lives of every Israeli. This principle of KILLING CHILDREN as a justifiable act is so contempt, so immoral that I am ashamed that my PM is saying this. OLMERT GO HOME! Enough of this Lebanon War. Stop now before we count HUNDREDS of more casualties on our side, exactly as what happened during the first Leabnon War: http://www.israel-chronicles.org/lebanon1982.htm ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!
54. TO MIKE #1
Georges ,   Lebanon   (07.30.06)
Since when you talk about legality you yourself are illegal on the land of Palestine as you belong to some trash bin in Bisbee Arizona. Any way I am not surprised that a person like you graduate of massacres committers academy in Vietnam is justifying crimes by blaming the victims. Shame on you religious freak.
55. To Ehud 9
Shai ,   Israel   (07.30.06)
Ehud says, "I should be seeking a Japanese citizenship, and maybe changing my religion...IDF, you made me feel shame for being a Jew. " Ehud, we'd hardly notice the difference if you followed through on your threat. You'd sound just like all the other non-Jewish non-Israeli haters of Israel and Jews. You've got absolutely nothing to say to us from Hiroshima, Japan If you've got enough chutzpa to litter these talkbacks with your incessant rants, why not come here and link arms with the Israeli haters of Israel; at the very least come here and put your cowardly butt on the line, and link arms with Beilin and Sarid, Barakeh and Tibi and shout at the top of your lungs where you might have a chance of achieving something, and losing something. How can someobody respect the anonymous Ehud from Hiroshima, who is unwilling to pay with his reputation by standing behind his words? Who can respect anybody who gives counsel who has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to lose if he is wrong? Look in the mirror, Ehud, and find a thin-skinned cowardly yored. It's up to you if you will ever be another thing.
56. To 10
Shai ,   Israe   (07.30.06)
OK, Abu Jude. Prove your point. We're all waiting. Given: 1) that the only reason Israel attacked Lebanon was following many provocations by Hizbollah, the kidnappings being only the last of them. 2) that the series of provocations that led to Israel's response could have only happened because Lebanon refused to implement UNSCR 1559, requiring disarming Hizbollah and moving its army into the South, which was passed as the quid pro quo for Israel's withdrawal from Lebanon 3) that Israel was in compliance with rules of war by advanced warning to civilians, at risk to its own forces and the loss of the advantage of surprise, that they were going to attack that specific location, and 4) Hizbollah was in violation of rules of war by using that specific civilian location for military purposes to target our civilians, making it a legitimate target Explain where and how exactly that Israel, and not Hizbollah and the Lebanese government, carry the ethical burden here. I'm willing to be open minded, if you can explain your case clearly. Patiently waiting, Shai

58. Can't solve this with the same mindset as when it wascreated
Darrell ,   Haifa, Israel   (07.30.06)
If history has taught us anything it is that we don’t learn from it. In the Middle East there are no rights and wrongs. One nations history is another nations lies…my facts twenty five kilometers north are simply propaganda. There is not a point in arguing our ideas as the past will not save our children from its mistakes. With our old mindset, our old dogmas, our future is set in its violent course. Only a new approach will bring solutions to our old problems. We live in a democracy and so does Lebanon. The majority of people have voted on both sides for a moderate, peaceful government willing to make painful sacrifices in turn for a stable, independent state. Let these people stand together….one demonstration in Jerusalem, one demonstration in Beirut. Bring cameras, signs, flowers, pride and hope…leave your fears and past prejudices. By coming out in favor of peace you are not forgiving the sins of the past, you are not abandoning your people or your soldiers in this battle. You are making a clear statement….we want peace for our children. We want to leave a normal life, we want to make the world better for our children, we want to visit one another’s country as tourists and as friends. Our long journey together needs to start at a common point; our desire for peace. Every journey begins with one step and this step we must make together. I make no illusions that our journey won’t be fraught with obstacles, impasses, and saboteurs on both sides. But together we will overcome them as long as we keep our children’s future in mind. A demonstration to the world that despite our differences we have a common ground; for our children to live in peace.

It is the fault of Hizbullah that innocents are being killed. You should direct your anger accordingly.
