1. Terrorists, Loosers, Liers
Ehud ,   Hiroshima, JAPAN   (07.30.06)
No more wars, no more deaths, STOP WAR NOW! We lost everything! We lost the war, we lost our image. We started trying to defend our country and ended up being 1- Terrorist 2- Loosers 3- Liers Thank you IDF, Olmert and all those who participated in this War. Shame on you, you make me sick. STOP WAR NOW!
2. wah wah wah innocent victims are only arab dead
Dan ,   No Pity USA   (07.30.06)
Why is it that innocent victims are always arabs? Innocent Israeli children and women are never a big concern. Too bad Israel hasn't capet bombed the entire south of Lebannon all the way to Beirut and further into the Bekka Valley. Everyone (even the UN Peacekeepers) has noted Hizbollah uses 'innocent civilians' to shield them from attack ...now some of them died. Why the outrage? It is what Hizbollah wanted for the people of southern Lebanon. They chose to use these people as shields now some are dead. Pity pity pity....hopefully Hizbollah will reconsider the use of innocents but I doubt it. The press coverage is too good!

4. Where was Chirac's condemnation of the kiiling of Israelis!
Jennifer Teff ,   Nahariya Israel   (07.30.06)
Talk about a disproportionate response!!!
5. Innocent?
Adam ,   Raanana, Israel   (07.30.06)
How exactly do you define innocent? When asked to leave an area and they won't because they know Hizballa needs them as a shield. How innocent are they then? This is the responsibility of the UN and Lebanon, not Israel and its about time we stopped sacrificing our soldiers for so called innocents. Its funny how the innocents I'm watching on tv now are running around with Hizballa flags and pictures of that stupid ewok. Where do you draw the line between civillian and urban terrorist?
6. Warning irrelevant
john sullivan ,   US   (07.30.06)
To get out of the gate before the apologists start posting that Israel isn't responsible--Hezbollah is, such as Olmert has said, a warning to the civlianss ahead of time doesn't abslove Israel of full resonsibility. Am I innocent of murder if I tell someone I'm going to start shooting in the direction of where they are standing in front of me, and they end up killed by my gunfire? NO. I'm still guitly of murder. If I tell a bank I'm going to rob it at soem time in the future, and then do, am I innocent of bank robbery since they didn't shut down, or remove all of their cash? NO. I'm guilty. Israel has a right to go after Hezbollah to prevent them from attacking Israel, but that right doesn't confer carte blanche in the means used. Just War Theory, enshrined in numerous international agreements and law defines that certain means are not justified even if the ends sought are. Proportinality in terms of force needed and the way that force is executed, and the concomitant protection of civilians is paramount. Israel, like the US in AFghanistan and Iraq (a war I oppose) has numerous combat options; they didn't have to use the option they did, and obviously tthe option chosen is immoral. This is a massive war crime, Israel is a war criminal, and Olmert is above all--as is the US and Bush in Iraq. Using foot soldiers is the obvious way to go after Hezbollah, regardless of their location, that would prevent such war crimes, but Israel has chosen not to use that more just-as-means option--akin to the US in Iraq (often enough). That's not giving the protection of civilians a priotity over combatant casualties--a war crimee. Olmert and the apologists need to stop trying to shirk their responsibility. It only hurts Israel in the eyes of the world in the long run, aside from being the wrong, unjust, immoral, and scathingly IMMATURE stance re: responsibility. Would you let your child avoid responsibility for a wrong they've committed on a basis of such juvenile logic? I hope not. Hezbollah is responsible for its war crimes and immoral acts, but Israel is too, and Hezbollah's failings don't justify Hezbollah's, nor vice-versa.
7. while HizbAllah hides amongst civilians...
Herut Zion ,   Newcastle, UK   (07.30.06)
Can't you see? HizbAllah's aim of destroying Israel and murdering as many Jews as they can is being legitimised thanks to the anti-Israeli propaganda. Time to play tough. Time for acknowledge than without Hashem leading Israel there'd be no Israel. Time for Teshuva and unrestrained war against Israel's enemies.

12. Israel...stand your ground
Keith ,   NY,USA   (07.30.06)
The only reason for civilian deaths are because these muslims allowed Hezbullah to set up their terrorist tactics amongst them. Israel has no choice but to weed them out from amongst the civilians. Why do we not here about Christians dying in Lebenon? Because the Christians would not allow them to do the same thing within their home. These people knew what they were doing from the begining. So their blood from their wifes, children, and the elderly are on their own hands...not Israel! So, stand firm Zion until your work is done or else the same will happen as in the past...your blood will spill into the streets with more attacks on your ground from your children. Do not end this battle until Hezbullah is COMPLETLY destroyed. Then take a serious look at the two that really need their clocks cleaned...Iran & Syria. The US is beside you in every step you take. Remember...as of right this minute, we have Iran completly surounded. We are in Afganistan and in Iraq, both sides of Iran. So it wont take weeks to set up shop to do the work. My love to you Zion!
13. Quama bombing terrorist tactics
karl ,   switzerland   (07.30.06)
...it's just unreal...hizbullah tactics work...the blame falls on israel...international community politicians enjoy and buy it....israel must go on and eradictae hizbullah and infrastructure...which they relay on...shame on all those who don't admit who started this...they must bear the consequences of their actions....IDF go, great job....
14. To All
KAL ,   Syria   (07.30.06)
Im really surprized when some of u say that isreali innocent are not noticed when they get hit, u make a full humungiouse story when an isreali citizen is lightly hurt, but when 61 and not 50, 61 innocent lebanies 28 of them are children dies in a barbarious act from ur so called " IDF" which i think it refers to "Idiotic Dumhead Freaks" u say that u dont get attention? Are u talking about the 712 people that died in this war which 700 of them where lebanies? i feel sorry for ur loss, but u should be more logic in ur disscutions and stop being ignorent and start reading other newspapers than ur local one, stop watching local news and turn to the other sides midea, say whatever u say about it, say that its a big lie, say that they are trying to get everybodies sympathy...but atleast watch...learn more about ur goverment, dont just commet for the sake of it...children are dieing here people!!! and i tell u somthing? Hizbullah will prevale...today they have killed 11 of ur Golani Elite soldiers...after they ran away and hidd in an old building...IDF are only effective on innocent civilians and in theyre aircrafts hidding away from hizzbulla fighters... So please dont give us B.S about the isrealies that are getting shocks and light injories, and not condemming the death of 28 children...

16. french "condemnation"
tom ,   toronto, canada   (07.30.06)
why is it that mr chirac is so quick to defend the arab countries in *any* conflict with the west? he has been remarkably silent for the last six years, as hezbollah violated united nations resolution 1559, and when hezbollah violated israeli sovereignty, and when 1,600 rockets rained down on civilians in northern israel. is it because israel hasn't paid him off in oil futures contracts, or because he is afraid of having his car burned in more arab "protests" in paris?
17. To 6
Shai ,   Israel   (07.30.06)
Wrong analogy, John. If I know that x will use y as a shield, and I know that I must attack x to stop his attacking me, I must give y a chance to avoid being in the line of fire. If y chooses to ignore my warning, I am not obligated to allow myself to be killed in the process of guarding your life. Your obligation to guard your life is greater than guarding mine, and vice versa. If I cannot take out x without taking out y, and not taking out x results in my being killed, I will kill you both. I'll feel bad about it, but I won't feel responsible. I surely don't think that killing either of x or y is "murder" as this is a war that we didn't ask for, we didn't start, and we are trying to finish. Your take on "proportionality" is wrong. Also your claim that protection of civilians is paramount is wrong. There are instances in war where civilians do NOT have the paramount value you give them. Examples are when they are used as shields, when militants are dressed as civilians, when militants use civilian facilities, etc. Proportionality is that we may not use, as one person once said, a sledgehammer when a nutcracker will do. We've stood by that and have been proportional. It is NOT, as you claim, a question of whether you think the damage caused is tolerable or proportional to the damage we've been caused. There is no obligation to parity, such that if one of Lebanon's citizens dies I must sacrifice one of my own. I challenge you to state chapter and verse of "JUst War Theory", enshrined in "numerous international agreements", that applies as you claim it to to the case at hand. I really wish people like you would research this and look at it a bit more circumspectly. Believe what you want regarding who is good and evil. But the words you use, like "war crimes", mean specific things, not what you allege them to mean. What Israel has done is, without question, not a war crime by any definition.
18. 15, that is categorically not true
(07.30.06)
19. Shai #17
Mark ,   San Antonio USA   (07.30.06)
Shai: Outstanding! You've hit the nail squarely on the head. The hyperbole employed by Islamofascists is beneath contempt. It does not begin to address their deliberate targeting of Israeli civilians, while simultaneously whining about their own use of women and children as shields. Brave Muslim warriors? Probably NOT! The Islamofascists don't even begin to understand Just War Theory (the operative word being "theory'), because they use the Koran for war crimes against what they define as sub humans (the German phrase is untermenschen). Furthermore, if we are to define what happened in this instance as a war crime, then what about the German and Japanese cities the Americans destroyed during WWII? Even if we eliminate the Soviet rhetoric concerning the deaths at Dresden and solely use German figures, then somewhere between 28 and 35 thousand civilians died overnight in a firestorm. Considering Dresden was also a center for the manufacture of high-end war making material, is the use of "dumb" bombs a war crime when considered in context of the time? I don't think so. Although I am sorry these civilians died, I do NOT see them as innocent. They knew ahead of time what was coming and they chose to remain as shields for "valiant" Islamofascist terrorists. Wrong choice. The bottom line is this: War is a horrible, horrible place for soldier and civilian alike. No one hates war more than soldiers for they are the ones who pay with their blood and their lives. However, REAL warriors do NOT hide behind women and children in combat. Perhaps the Shiites in Lebanon should consider this fact before they offer their lives as shields for terrorists.
20. The world condems Israel. For what?
David ,   Karmiel   (07.30.06)
It is very sad that so many children were killed in Qana and in other places in Lebanon. Two little boys were killed in Nazareth by Nasrallah and his allies, Syria, Iran and Fouad Siniora - the wolf in sheep’s clothing. Siniora is the man who defied the UN, which now condemns Israel, by not carrying out UN Resolution 1559. Why? Because he supports Hezbollah in its efforts to destroy the State of Israel and what does he care about the kids in Israel, Arab, Christian, Muslim or Jew? One again, world opinion is focused on condemning Israel. In an interview with Rosemary Church on CNN today Time Magazine correspondent, Christopher Allbritton was delivering a diatribe against Israel. He was asked if he had seen missiles placed among the civilian population. His reply was a definite no. Ms Church then pointed out that Israel had stated that Hezbollah had done just that and Mr. Allbritton or maybe Notsobrightbritton, said in a sarcastic way that “Israel says a lot of things", basically calling us liars. The interesting thing is that CNN's Ben Weideman, not at all one who is sympathetic to Israel after being wounded in the rear by an Israeli bullet a few years ago, clearly and simply stated on CNN International that Hezbollah was placing their missiles among the civilian population. Now, Mr. Allbritton, who is being economical with the truth, you or Ben? The fact is that there are those who will believe what Israel claims and those who hate us so vehemently, and will never believe us. One might ask why the media have not made anything of the hospital badly damaged by a Hezbollah rocket yesterday. Is it because some people like Mr. Allbritton regard the killing of Jews praiseworthy and that we should just roll over and let Hezbollah and their allies massacre us? No, Mr. Allbritton and your Hezbollah friends, your kind succeeded in murdering 6 million of us, among them 2 million children and I say to you: NEVER AGAIN!
21. #11 - Steve
Adam ,   Raanana, Israel   (07.30.06)
Steve, let me ask you a question. If a man walked into your house with a young child standing in front of him, got down on his knees and pulled a gun at YOUR family, if you had warned the child in front of the gunman to move and he refused to, would you allow that gunman to kill your family for the sake of that child? We do not want to kill young children, even if they do grow up to be the same hateful bastards their parents are today. But do we really have a choice? These young children are being trained as terrorists and its Lebanon's responsibility and their parents responsibility to get them out of the way of this war. Israel gave more than enough warning for them to get out. Any person who is left in that city, 48 hours after a warning has been given to evacuate, is clearly not an innocent bystander. Might I remind all of you that none of this would have happened if Hizbulla didn't cross international borders to steal 2 of our soldiers and kill 8. Tell me Steve, if Canadian terrorist or Mexican terrorists had done that, what do you think U.S. response would be? Oh wait I have the answer, they would let the terrorists protest on American soil and then change the law to suit the terrorists lest anybody gets offended. Considering the fact that the U.S. went to war on 2 international fronts because some extremists knocked down your 2 crappy towers, you have no space to talk! For the record I support both of the American campaigns but I'm just proving a little point here.

26. 150 rockets launched at Israel from Qana
gerd schulz ,   germany   (07.30.06)
Senior officer: 150 rockets launched at Israel from Qana Chief of the IDF Operations Branch, Maj. Gen. Gadi Eisnkot, said in a press conference that "the IDF operated against terrorist target in Qana. The village has been used, since the onset of the confrontation, as a refuge for terror and a launch site for some 150 rockets at Israel, in some 30 volleys." According to the general: "Since the first day of the fighting, we warned residents of southern Lebanon that they should distance themselves from terror operatives and launch sites, for their own safety. We dropped pamphlets, announced it in the media and operated in a gradual manner and, unfortunately, Saturday night civilians were killed, whom no one had the intention of attacking."
