Why isn't a resolution at least presented to the UN to condemn Hezbollah for crimes against humanity? I was devastated by the news of Cana - although I sadly expected this to happen any day, after seeing Katyusha rockets being launched from the suburbs of Tyre, day after day, for the last week. What I do not understand is this: Israel has about 500,0000 people in shelters. Hezbollah, with its 10,000 missiles, bunkers, mobile launchers, ambulances, charities, school, construction, etc... does not provide shelter to the civilians it supports and aids while shooting its rockets right from the midst of these poor people houses and neighborhoods. Why doesn't anyone say anything about this and why is there no UN resolution ever proposed against it? Crimes against humanity are well-defined. The missiles were launched next door. A real soldier protects his own people, and would have moved these women and children before launching more rockets. Israelis cry when their own soldiers are killed. So do Americans. But not Hezbollah and co who celebrate when their own men die! I am at a loss at everybody accepting these deaths - one child is too many - one person is too many - without indicting these ruthless Hezbollah guerilla's who hide behind the people they claim to fight for. If at least someone proposed a resolution at the UN against groups who commits such crimes! Maybe someone here has a suggestion to bring this to the forefront so that indiscriminate killings just stop, on both sides. Every life lost is one too many, for more generations than one can think. Buildings can be replaced, not people. Can there for once be a UN statement against these practice of human shields by militia and terrorists? And indisrciminate shootings of civiliians inside Israel - that is a war crime too. The manipulation of media and grieved people, their anger turned into mobs that break windows, running to embassies asking for more destruction, the pictures produced within a few hours, looks both so staged and heartbreaking. When one mourns in shock, one is so fragile - instead of comfort and support, these violent emotions are immediately imprinted and deflected in a crucial psychological window to rage and calls for more deaths for the outside - so Hezbollah gets off, ready for another convenient catastrophe when it needs a cease-fire. The logic of jihad is that children are to grow up to die while killing. (quote from Nasrallah: They should all be ready to be martyrs most glorious martyrdom is to die while killing!) In this worship of death, there is no room for life. This is the simple law of consequences. This war of ideas, of jiahd is about figthing the real culture of death. Jihad means (meine) kampft. But the wolrd can still stop this toxic ideology to spread further, in Lebanon and eslewhere. Let's choose life and hope. Cana is a place of miracles. God can bring life from death, good from evil, but it requires our cooperation to accomplish that miracle. At the wedding at Cana, waiters provide the water to be turned into wine. We need to do our part by speaking the truth as to how this catastrophe was staged and speak up amidst attacks against Israel. Only truth can overcome darkness. The world has to condemn with clarity crimes against humanity commited by Hezbollah if we are to progress on the war of ideas. Choose life. Al' Chaim.

If Olmert doesn't get the will to fight this war as a war, and call this conflict a war, then he should allow America to impose a permanent cease-fire and have the international community do what he wasn't willing to do. It seems, right now, as if the deaths on both sides have been for naught. And if Israel continues the war, and does so in the half-hearted way it has fought it until now (not the IDF’s fault, it’s the politicians’), what might happen? Hizballah will get a moral victory, despite its terrorism and use of human shields. Lebanon will get - maybe - a slap on the wrist for not reining in Hizballah. Syria and Iran will have more confidence than ever. And Israel will not only be in danger, but still receiving the blame for civilian deaths caused, ultimately, by Hizballah, Lebanon, Syria and Iran. Israel doesn't want to admit that it is on the verge of losing this war; it's already lost it in the eyes of much of the world. Olmert doesn't want to admit the country needs to fight this like an actual war in order to turn this losing perception around. For what will all of the soldiers and civilians have died if Israel's goals are not met? So that more can die in the next war? Do the job right, or don't do it at all!

Capitulated or not, the most important thing for Olmert to understand is that this war is damaging Israel. It leads to destruction, it guarantees no peace security or stability. The only way to solve the crisis is by talks. And if Olmert would have followed the path of talks from the onset, he could have saved many lives and destruction for both Israel and Lebanon. The responde from the gut not from the head. And we are paying the price.
