1. cup of coffee
Jane ,   France   (07.31.06)
What happens if an insect falls in a cup of coffee ?! The British : will throw the cup into the street and leave the coffee shop for good. The American : will get the insect out and drink the coffee. The Chinese : will eat the insect and drink the coffee. The Israeli will : (1) Sell the coffee to the American and the insect to the Chinese. 2) Cry on all media channels that he feels insecure. 3) Accuse the Palestinians, Hizb Allah, Syria and Iran of using germ-weapons. (4) Keep on crying about anti-semitism and violations of human rights. (5) Ask the Palestinian President to stop planting insects in the cups of coffee. (6) Re-occupy the West Bank, Gaza Strip. (7) Demolish houses, confiscate lands, cut water and electrity from palestinian houses and randomly shoot Palestinians. (8) Ask the United States for urgent military support and a loan of one million dollars in order to buy a new cup of coffee. (9) Ask the United Nations to punish the coffee-shop owner by making him offer free coffee to them till the end of the century. (10)Last but not least, accuse the whole world to be standing still, not even sympathizing with the Israeli Nation
2. Lebanon's PM thanks Hizbollah for its "sacrifices"
gerd schulz ,   germany   (07.31.06)
Lebanon's PM thanks Hizbollah for its "sacrifices" Lebanese Prime Minister Fouad Siniora thanked Hizbollah on Sunday for its "sacrifices" In its war against Israel. "We are in a strong position and I thank the Sayyed for his efforts," Siniora said when asked about a Saturday statement by Hizbullah chief Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah calling on the government to take advantage of Hizbollah's steadfastness against Israeli military might. 4. to jane #2 - if only our leaders were so bold
Aaron ,   Ra'anana   (07.31.06)
you give us too much credit. Olmert is a clueless wimp. so far we have failed miserably in occupying Maalot, Metulla and Sderot.
5. UN resolution vs Hezbollah
Nicole ,   Tempe, AZ   (07.31.06)
Why isn't a resolution at least presented to the UN to condemn Hezbollah for crimes against humanity? I was devastated by the news of Cana - although I sadly expected this to happen any day, after seeing Katyusha rockets being launched from the suburbs of Tyre, day after day, for the last week. What I do not understand is this: Israel has about 500,0000 people in shelters. Hezbollah, with its 10,000 missiles, bunkers, mobile launchers, ambulances, charities, school, construction, etc... does not provide shelter to the civilians it supports and aids while shooting its rockets right from the midst of these poor people houses and neighborhoods. Why doesn't anyone say anything about this and why is there no UN resolution ever proposed against it? Crimes against humanity are well-defined. The missiles were launched next door. A real soldier protects his own people, and would have moved these women and children before launching more rockets. Israelis cry when their own soldiers are killed. So do Americans. But not Hezbollah and co who celebrate when their own men die! I am at a loss at everybody accepting these deaths - one child is too many - one person is too many - without indicting these ruthless Hezbollah guerilla's who hide behind the people they claim to fight for. If at least someone proposed a resolution at the UN against groups who commits such crimes! Maybe someone here has a suggestion to bring this to the forefront so that indiscriminate killings just stop, on both sides. Every life lost is one too many, for more generations than one can think. Buildings can be replaced, not people. Can there for once be a UN statement against these practice of human shields by militia and terrorists? And indisrciminate shootings of civiliians inside Israel - that is a war crime too. The manipulation of media and grieved people, their anger turned into mobs that break windows, running to embassies asking for more destruction, the pictures produced within a few hours, looks both so staged and heartbreaking. When one mourns in shock, one is so fragile - instead of comfort and support, these violent emotions are immediately imprinted and deflected in a crucial psychological window to rage and calls for more deaths for the outside - so Hezbollah gets off, ready for another convenient catastrophe when it needs a cease-fire. The logic of jihad is that children are to grow up to die while killing. (quote from Nasrallah: They should all be ready to be martyrs most glorious martyrdom is to die while killing!) In this worship of death, there is no room for life. This is the simple law of consequences. This war of ideas, of jiahd is about figthing the real culture of death. Jihad means (meine) kampft. But the wolrd can still stop this toxic ideology to spread further, in Lebanon and eslewhere. Let's choose life and hope. Cana is a place of miracles. God can bring life from death, good from evil, but it requires our cooperation to accomplish that miracle. At the wedding at Cana, waiters provide the water to be turned into wine. We need to do our part by speaking the truth as to how this catastrophe was staged and speak up amidst attacks against Israel. Only truth can overcome darkness. The world has to condemn with clarity crimes against humanity commited by Hezbollah if we are to progress on the war of ideas. Choose life. Al' Chaim.
6. Olmert Not a War-Worthy Leader
Jeremy S. Slavin ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (07.31.06)
If Olmert doesn't get the will to fight this war as a war, and call this conflict a war, then he should allow America to impose a permanent cease-fire and have the international community do what he wasn't willing to do. It seems, right now, as if the deaths on both sides have been for naught. And if Israel continues the war, and does so in the half-hearted way it has fought it until now (not the IDF’s fault, it’s the politicians’), what might happen? Hizballah will get a moral victory, despite its terrorism and use of human shields. Lebanon will get - maybe - a slap on the wrist for not reining in Hizballah. Syria and Iran will have more confidence than ever. And Israel will not only be in danger, but still receiving the blame for civilian deaths caused, ultimately, by Hizballah, Lebanon, Syria and Iran. Israel doesn't want to admit that it is on the verge of losing this war; it's already lost it in the eyes of much of the world. Olmert doesn't want to admit the country needs to fight this like an actual war in order to turn this losing perception around. For what will all of the soldiers and civilians have died if Israel's goals are not met? So that more can die in the next war? Do the job right, or don't do it at all!

8. Ydioth Ahronot headline says: Olmert Capitulated.
Proud Grandpa ,   (07.31.06)
Capitulated or not, the most important thing for Olmert to understand is that this war is damaging Israel. It leads to destruction, it guarantees no peace security or stability. The only way to solve the crisis is by talks. And if Olmert would have followed the path of talks from the onset, he could have saved many lives and destruction for both Israel and Lebanon. The responde from the gut not from the head. And we are paying the price.
9. To 1
Shai ,   Israel   (07.31.06)
Here's what the French would do with the fly and the coffee. 1) Give it a fancy French name and sell it for 3 times the normal price of coffee 2) Insist that the fly is not a fly, but is rather something the customer has imagined. 3) Insist that flies are good for you, invent that very moment a 300 year old tradition of drinking flies in coffee as a symbol of fraternaty and egalaterianism, and expect you to drink to your health. 4) If that doesn't work, blame somebody else for putting the fly in the coffee, and mutter something in French that nobody else understands. 4) Since the fly or the chef might be from Morrocco or a Palestinian, the French will insist that the customer be understanding, pay full price, and leave the table without any coffee at all. 5) Wax elegantly about how the coffee is a symbol of colonialism, the fly a symbol of freedom, and therefore they will use the opportunity to enter a discussion of the Middle East and condemn the Jews for rejecting the Arabs "natural right" to fight the "occupation". 6) Blame the Jews for "arrogantly" drowning flies in coffee, citing Amnesty International and the United Nations as sources that flies have lost their lives in Israeli cafes. 7) Host the Lord of the Flies on his deathbed, without noticing that flies always find a welcoming home on **it. 8) Insist that the fly committed suicide over the bombing of the Lebanese by the IDF.
10. Pure insanity
Daniel ,   Tekoa   (07.31.06)
1. The solders are still kidnapped 2. Hezbollah is as strong as ever 3. We end things as if admitting to the world that we used excessive force! Our government should hand its hear in shame and resign. What would I do? We should have had all of our "leaders" declaring to every media outlet, 1. We told them to leave the building 2. We have learnt that Hezbollah refused to let them leave the building. 3. We have strong reason to believe that the building was eventually blown up by Hezbollah to garner world sympathy. I wonder if our "leaders are that stupid or if they really have our best interest at hand.
11. Jane, nobody is interested in your ramblings
Keep your bloody mouth shut, you French antisemite. Don't kid yourself. You are an insect i.e. just an insignificant nuissance.

Shai, they would just swallow it. Just like they swallowed the German invasion and did nothing. The French are big talkers, but say 'BOO' to them and they run a mile.
14. #1 ; and the frenchies?

Their president will say: "ABRACADABRANTESQUE !! " Unfortunately, beeing a comic is a real job, and it looks like you aren't one of them. Your timing as well as your joke are ugly.

17. The French got an Arab to headbutt the Italian
because no french player had the guts to do it. LOL!!!!!
alman ,   jerusalem,israel   (07.31.06)
Surely, this is not the Israel of 1948, 1956, 1967, and 1973. Israel has lost faith in not only religious beliefs but even in secular beliefs of self (ego) power of the sword. To whom can the nation turn for support? Europe? America? Arabian States? Does the nation still place trust in man who has attempted to erase its existence so many times during history? In whom should we really trust?
Linda Rivera ,   New York   (07.31.06)
It is hypocritical and dishonest for Rice to demand of Israel why they did not prevent the Qana deaths. Rice has a MORAL OBLIGATION to demand an explanation from Lebanon's Prime Minister Siniora who on Sunday publicy thanked terrorist Hizbullah for its sacrifices in the war against Israel. Lebanon's Prime Minister actually thanks Hizbullah who use innocent civilians as human shields - sacrifices for the war against Israel. Images show Hizbullah using high-density residential areas to launch rockets:,,19955774-5007220,00.html
Linda Rivera ,   New York   (07.31.06)
Hamas and Hizbullah fight the proxy war against Israel for Syria and Iran. United with Lebanon whose Prime Minister Siniora on Sunday, July 30, 2006, thanked terrorist Hizbullah for its sacrifices in the war against Israel. It is evident, Rice has no interest in Israel's survival. Multiple past experiences have proven the Islamists lie about the number of civilians wounded and killed. Less Israelis get killed because Israelis fear G-D, care about people, and do not use Israeli civilians as human shields. And, ONE THIRD of Israelis are now forced to live in bomb shelters. Hizbullah ruthlessly uses the civilian population as human shields to protect rocket launching teams - setting up rockets and other weapons in basements of apartment blocks, schools and mosques. Hizbullah shoots from inside mosques, hospitals and schools in south Lebanon. Where is the world's condemnation for these evil tactics??? Global jihadists Hizbullah's evil goal is the murder of every Jew. On October 22, 2002, Nasrallah told Lebanon's Daily Star: "If the Jews all gather in Israel, it will save us the trouble of going after them world wide." Images show Hizbullah using high-density residential areas to launch rockets:,,19955774-5007220,00.html
21. Hanoi Jane (No.1)--And the French?
Nick ,   NY, USA   (07.31.06)
You neglected to mention what the French would likely do. Give their lover a coffee enema, torture the insect, add that to the mix, and then prepare a sauce (a l'orange) from the overflow? The possibilities are interesting. Any thoughts?

Reason ,   Canada   (07.31.06)
The french would just surrender to the coffee and round up all the flies and send them to poland.
23. #18 Whom shall we trust?
Jean ,   Montana, USA   (08.01.06)
There is no other to turn to, there is no other to trust than Israel's great GOD, JEHOVAH. When all is said and done, there is no other rock, there is no other defence, there is no other hope of salvation. When Israel turns to her great HASHEM, then the world will run and hide in terror from the face of HIM WHO SITS ON THE THRONE.
