Lebanon's PM thanks Hizbollah for its "sacrifices" Lebanese Prime Minister Fouad Siniora thanked Hizbollah on Sunday for its "sacrifices" In its war against Israel. "We are in a strong position and I thank the Sayyed for his efforts," Siniora said when asked about a Saturday statement by Hizbullah chief Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah calling on the government to take advantage of Hizbollah's steadfastness against Israeli military might. Jeremiah ,   Israel, Jewish Land   (07.31.06)
6. Aerial ceasefire, expanded ground operation
Muhammad Rashed ,   Dubai, UAE   (07.31.06)
Time has changed and the Arabs learned that to achieve a “balance” with Israel they do not need the same amount of weaponry it is the “balance of terror” yes the Lebanese are terrorized but the Israeli are the same (though with much less severe attack from Hizbullah side). I wonder when the small minded people in the Israeli leadership will understand that killing civilians and destroying infrastructure will not bring long term security. May be short term it will help but your children in the future will pay drearily for your crimes now.
7. What HAVE you been doing?
Jorge Banner ,   BsAs, Argentina   (07.31.06)
This looks like some kind of sick game has been played up to know. Israel HAS to win this war. Israel should have win this war in the first 48 hours. This game is playing into the hands of the arabs. Have you heard of Vietnam? Can you afford that? Do you understand what the future will bring, after Israel looses?
8. My 2 cents
Daniel ,   Australia   (07.31.06)
The hizbullah and news agencies around the world keep saying "Hizbullah is winning this war". I don't think it's a matter of "winning" or "losing". Israel lives in a region where she is under constant threat from numerous enemies who outnumber her significantly. The fact that Israel still exists is a victory in my eyes. And in relation to ground troops - I think many israeli soldiers will lose their lives if they go half-assed and send in small numbers of ground troops. So, sending in a larger contingent as this report indicates could lead to many positive developments. However, it would be much easier to just give the "civilians" in the south 48 hrs to get out, and then bomb the crap out of them from the air. But international presure wont allow them to do so. Therefore, the only way to defeat these terrorists is through significant ground operations. Israel needs to keep these terrorists on the run and keep pushing them back further and further. Force them to use their longer range missiles. Let's see how many buildings are left standing in Beirut if one of their rockets hits tel aviv.
9. sons of light and the sons of darkness
Ronaldo ,   Spain   (07.31.06)
Knesset Member Dalia Itzik told the Knesset that "we are in a war between the sons of light and the sons of darkness" Non of you two are sons of light or darkness but for sure you are the sons of a B**H
10. Israel must press on. No let up!
Joan Walch ,   NY, USA   (07.31.06)
War against Hizbulla is not only Israeli affair: world's security is at stake. Therefore, the sufferings of terrorism-supporting civilians is not a factor. They got what they deserve. Israel, press on!
11. to Mahdi
(07.31.06)
this is so sad that there are people like you around the world. people how want to erase nations from the planet. Israel did not and will never target civilians, as oppose to the Hezbollah which goal is to kill all Jews. what a waste of life.
12. Repentance is the answer
Robert ,   Haifa,Israel   (07.31.06)
This corrupt and arrogant governement thinks that whith the might of Zahal will win this war. You are lying to the people, the army and yourselves. Trying vanely to push north an army with long range missiles, willing to risk the best of their youth to cover your frustration. Lets better go back to G-d, to our values, love each other, repent of our sins and G-d will fight for us
13. Aerial ceasefire, expanded ground operation
Muhammad Rashed ,   Dubai, UAE   (07.31.06)
Shortsighted people keep saying “expand the ground operations”. Well Israel occupied south Lebanon for more than 20 years, then withdrew defeated because Hizbullah beat the crap out the “brave” Israeli soldiers. Indeed that occupation helped a lot augment Hizbullah to what it is now, so expand your attack and you will have hundreds of “Hizbullah” springing all over the place, just give it some time. You have not learnt the lesson of the resistance in Gaza and the west bank. As long as Israel continues to inflict the injustices against Arabs MORE AND MORE resistance fighters will be created. DO NO NOT YOU GET IT.
14. idiot government
stude ham ,   outremont, canada   (07.31.06)
This military campaign is being conducted by idiots at the head of the government. You cannot fight the terrorists with two hands tied behind your back... yet this precisely what the Olmert-Peretz-Peres troika is forcing Israel's military to do. In a war, this is pure idiocy. But then again, this troika believed that it could appease the opposing lunatics though such gestures as *convergence*. IDIOTS!!!
15. WY SHOULD ISRAEL STAY SMALL - WHY NOT GROW ?
Andrew ,   miami,fl   (07.31.06)
I was just thinking the other day - what if israel - a country of innovation, liberalism, freedom and creativity - were to be the same size as syria or iran , how many great thigs could they bring to the world why should syria and iran - who invents nothing, does nothing, creates nothing - cures nothing - be so big this is an always changng and shifting planet, and the existing orders are always being challenged.
16. where is Sharon ?
cyni Kolo ,   London, UK   (07.31.06)
God, please weak up Sharon. At least he would have the courage and the will to bring a solution to the lebanese crisis. Get ride of Olmert and Peretz, who are only sending the wrong messages to Hezbollah. By changing their mind every two hours, they only encouraging Iran to launch their nucks bomb.
17. aerial cease fire
David ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (07.31.06)
Mahdi,Mohammed Rashid and others. What are you happy about?, are you happy that Nasralla caused the death of hundreds and the wounding of thousands of Lebanese,Israeli, and other nationalities?. you really believe that the Hizbolla will be able to destroy Israel, you are so naive to think that Nasralla will be able to do what Syria,Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon with the help of Iraq, Saudia and others could not do since 1948. If Israel really wanted they can flatten all the area between the border and the Litani River. and the cowards of the Hizbolla would not be able to hide among the people , and the skirts of the Lebanese women. They are brave showing how they drive around town in trucks with anti-aircraft guns, and all this among civilians.... specially children !! You are very brave sitting in Dubai and Saudia and the only thing you are doing is passing wind ( in all meanings of the word) , you don;t care the dead Lebanese people, I know that you don;t care about the Israeli people. you don't care about the destruction.. you are what is normally called " ARMCHAIR WARRIORS". big heroes .. as long as it is not your blood that will pay for Nasralla's games.. what did he achieve.???..... how does he sleep at night ?
18. Isarel - Don't give up!!
Ivor Bolakoff ,   Moscow   (07.31.06)
For goodness sake, Israel, don't give up now. Get rid of these terrorists for good, and let your people live in peace.
19. to 13, Muhammad
(07.31.06)
Apparently history eludes you. Israel left Lebanon. The Hezbollah wasn't and will never be powerful enough to defeat the Israeli army. For some strange reason the Arab countries around Israel thought that they will be powerful enough to do so, but as history shows us - they NEVER won. It took several years before most of the countries around Israel realized that the only way is peace. but, the extremist think otherwise, that with continuing terror, and terrorist attacks Israel will lose. Think again. Terror, the Hezbollah and Iran are the caner of this world. I hope someday the world will be brave enough to fight terrorism with the same courage is Israel shows, and as Bush and Blair support.
20. PM Olmert, IDF & IAF Super Job, keep it
Mary ,   USA   (07.31.06)
up til you are satisfied Israel will no longer be fired upon. The World Watches.
21. #4 "Hill!!" The Victory Belongs to the L_rd.
Mary ,   USA   (07.31.06)
Ask Him about who will have the victory. You may debate with Him.
22. #5 Olmert? No. ISRAEL.
Mary ,   USA   (07.31.06)
Jeremiah, the sense you have of prolonged terrorist activity is probably correct, just judging from terror history. PM Olmert is the best man for this job. Sharon would not have had the strength. Israel has always had to put up with the Ishmaelite types. Scourge, yes the terrorists are. Victors they are not, nor will they ever be. The achievements IDF makes are for now and near future of Israel and all Free people. The Ultimate achievement of FINAL FUTURE VICTORY will be accredited to the L_rd Himself, when Messiah comes. He will destroy the armies that come against Israel once, for all. Remember, His covenant is with Isaac, born of Sarai and Abraham, not Ishmael, the older brother born of Hagar and Abraham
23. #14 Stude- Will the next PM of Israel step right up?
Mary ,   USA   (07.31.06)
24. #12 Robert
Mary ,   USA   (07.31.06)
Repentance is needed. "He is not willing that any should perish but that all come to repentance." Repentance of what? What does G_d want of you, Robert? Of Olmert? Did G_d tell you He was not fighting for Israel? Repentance then sit down and Take the Missiles up the rear end? Nope I'll remain in an attitude to love and pray for Israel, Olmert, IDF, IAF,etc. as I repent.
25. The "weakness" of love for life.
Don Ford ,   Los Angeles, US   (07.31.06)
Terrorist Rule Number One: Keep The Children Near. Arafat used children as shields in September 2000. Hezbollah, too, likes to work with children. They knew their launch site in Qana would draw Israeli fire. Hezbollah wanted those children dead. The PR victory is money in the bank, a deposit on a second Holocaust. Hezbollah has endangered all of Lebanon with its culture-of-death agenda. It is they, not Israel, who should be apologizing for the civilian deaths. But We are sorry are words you will never hear from the army of hate. Good people, civilized people, people who value life do not readily comprehend this kind of evil. They search for rational explanations. They try to understand. Meanwhile this favored terror tactic is successfully used, and children are needlessly dead. The point must be relentlessly driven home: Terrorists are not only responsible for the deaths and injuries they directly cause, but also for the deaths and injuries that result from actions taken to stop them. The message of a brave and moral press should be that Hezbollah—not Israel—killed those children.

Let me give you a list of the accomplishments of Israel: - The cell phone was developed in Israel by Israelis working in the Israeli branch of Motorola, which has its largest development center in Israel. - Most of the Windows NT and XP operating systems were developed by Microsoft-Israel. (this one is still being researched - most development probably took place in India, but Israel did have a part in XP development) -The Pentium MMX Chip technology was designed in Israel at Intel. -Both the Pentium-4 microprocessor and the Centrino processor were entirely designed, developed and produced in Israel. -The Pentium microprocessor in your computer was most likely made in Israel. -Voice mail technology was developed in Israel. -Both Microsoft and Cisco built their only R&D facilities outside the US in Israel. -The technology for the AOL Instant Messenger ICQ was developed in 1996 by four young Israelis. -Israel has the fourth largest air force in the world (after the U.S., Russia and China). In addition to a large variety of other aircraft, Israel's air force has an aerial arsenal of over 250 F-16's. This is the largest fleet of F-16 aircraft outside of the U. S. -Israel 's $100 billion economy is larger than all of its immediate neighbors combined . -Israel has the highest percentage in the world of home computers per capita. -According to industry officials, Israel designed the airline industry's most impenetrable flight security. US officials now look (finally) to Israel for advice on how to handle airborne security threats. -Israel has the highest ratio of university degrees to the population in the world. -Israel produces more scientific papers per capita than any other nation by a large margin - 109 per 10,000 people --as well as one of the highest per capita rates of patents filed. -In proportion to its population, Israel has the largest number of startup companies in the world. In absolute terms, Israel has the largest number of startup companies than any other country in the world, except the U.S. (3,500 companies mostly in hi-tech). -With more than 3,000 high-tech companies and startups, Israel has the highest concentration of hi-tech companies in the world -- apart from the Silicon Valley, U. S. -Israel is ranked #2 in the world for venture capital funds right behind the U. S. -Outside the United States and Canada, Israel has the largest number of NASDAQ listed companies. -Israel has the highest average living standards in the Middle East. -The per capita income in 2000 was over $17,500, exceeding that of the UK. -On a per capita basis, Israel has the largest number of biotech startups. Twenty-four per cent of Israel's workforce holds university degrees, ranking third in the industrialized world, after the United States and Holland and 12 per cent hold advanced degrees. -When Golda Meir was elected Prime Minister of Israel in 969, she became the world's second elected female leader in modern times. -All the above while engaged in regular wars with an implacable enemy that seeks its destruction, and an economy continuously under strain by having to spend more per capita on its own protection than any other county on earth.
27. Israel at war
Lobbus ,   UK   (08.01.06)
This (and other ) articles would have more impact if the "translater" was a native English speaker. With the greatest respect I have to say that the standard of the English translation from Hebrew is poor ! I know that there are many immigrants from the "English Speaking World" in Israel, surely it is not beyond the ability of the "Big Chiefs" at Ynet News to make use of their knowledge ? "Hazak ve Ematz" ! Lobbus.
