1. Very powerful piece...
Steve ,   NY, NY   (07.31.06)
but the Israel could benefit greatly from a more ferocious PR machine to complement it s ferocious war machine -
2. Israel, you are NOT alone.
DR ,   Gwent, UK   (07.31.06)
The horrible tragedy in Kfar Kana is a mirror image of Hizbullah's intent in relation to their attacks upon Jewish civilians, and these accidental fatalities are the very thing that Hizbullah is trying to deliberately inflict upon Israeli civilians with every single missile of the 2,500 that have been launched from Kfar Kana and a myriad of other locations. While the media is swept along in an almost unstoppable anti-Israel tide, within an endless sea of what can only be described as anti-Semitism that is simply being cited as “bias”, please rest assured that Israel is not alone. If only a remnant, there are those among us, even here in the UK, who know the truth and who stand in prayer and solidarity with the Jewish people. While people demonstrate in the streets in the Lebanon, I cannot but consider that if these were Israeli casualties these people would still be in the street - but celebrating instead. Just like they did when Scud missiles were falling on Israeli cities and on September 11.
3. nachon! - kol hakavod, guy benyovits. you hit the target!
gerd schulz ,   germany   (07.31.06)
4. Sorry World
Bob   (07.31.06)
Thank you for the article. More of this is needed and more often.
5. What are they gonna do, don't like us?
Jorge Banner ,   BsAs, Argentina   (07.31.06)
Israel should turn Hams, Hisbolla, Lebanon, Syria and Iran into smoldering ruins. What's the world gonna do, don't like us? There comes a time when you have to understand that if people are going to curse you, anyway, it is better if your enemies are dead. Safer, you know?
6. sorry
revolution ,   ACT, Australia   (07.31.06)
I do not support the shooting of rockets at civilians. Nor do I support state terror. You seem to ignore the fact that the USA, its allies and the EU have been silent about Gaza and the Israeli bombing of Lebanon.
7. Sorry
David   (07.31.06)
Sorry, but that was terrible writing. Comparing the loss of one child to the loss of 700+ civilians? Is it fair that you fire with your jets and those civilians don't even have shotguns? If you are such brave soldiers, give some of your significant arsenal to the Lebanese so they can defend themselves and then let's see how brave you are. How brave is it to kill defenseless people from hundreds of kilometers away? that is war? That is Judaism? Sorry, the world is right. You are wrong.
8. don't apologize-- the world hates jews anyway!
oded   (07.31.06)
regardless of is said and done by this impotant govt., the world will continue to hate jews and love dead ones. i personally don't feel bad at all for the qana incident. ifeel alot worse for the 30 israeli civillians and soldiers who paid with their lives for the arab barbarism!
9. Our support with Israel, period.
Mary ,   USA   (07.31.06)
Guy, I don't know why we tolerate the UN. I guess we have to be there to veto their insanity. Israel continues to show herself determined in the face of the enemy, whatever the enemy decides to call itself today. Thank you for giving a heart view.
10. Your Article
SR ,   NYC   (07.31.06)
Thank you, Guy. Beautifully written. Tender and strong at the same time. And with a huge middle finger defiantly extended toward the sheygets world. We do have a Masada Complex, don't we? Except that this time they know they'd go down with us as sure as daylight. Israel has learnt its history, one hopes.
11. Sadly, this is right on the money
Aviva ,   Tel Aviv   (07.31.06)
I've combed the news media since this war started and have been surprised to find that while, especially the british press, still front page every militant killed in Gaza and any destruction and death in Lebanon our civilian casualties, our children who are killed are mentioned only as an after thought at the end of long articles about the destruction and death in Lebanon. If ours are mentioned at all.
12. Thank you Guy!
Gene ,   Israel   (07.31.06)
Agree with you a 100%. Jews have no friends. We are the cursed nation, and it seems will remain cursed to the end of times....
13. Sorry for again realizing your wild anti-Semitic fantasy
Schulz ,   Berlin   (07.31.06)
Excuse me, forgive me please, but I had never to never time a little wild anti-semitic fantasy. My grandma`s sisters was married by jews after wwII. But, we not realized this enough. They were lovely, but strong. And my parents would no want difficult relationships. language german. I must now learn to read and write and see more about Israel. And it is my "first land from God". Be blessed!
14. Yep, Guy, you've said it all.
Siegel ,   Karmiel, Israel   (07.31.06)
This nation, this people, damned if we do, damned if we don't. But, we will NEVER lie down and let them destroy us. Not with their lies. Not with their hate.
15. Sorry
pauline ,   TA   (07.31.06)
It appears as the song goes "sorrry" seems to be the only word
16. Guy
Alex ,   Israel   (07.31.06)
Guy, are you serious? Who cares about those pesky JOOOZ? /sarcasm.
17. Post This Article In All Newspapers Worldwide
H ,   Jerusalem   (07.31.06)
but don't hold your breath - The Jews will still be blamed for everything until the Left will get some brains and realize that they're the ones destroying the world.
18. Quit Whinning...
Chaw Zoe Myint ,   Changmi, Thailand   (07.31.06)
Yes, here you go again trying to foist on us the lies that you are the most persecuted people in the world. Sorry, today it's the Palestinians, it's the black folks of America, it's the ethnics in China and Burma; it's the homos in Africa and in Moslem states; it's the indegenous peoples in the few remaining rain forests. ...but it's not Israelis. You are, after all, the most powerful country in the world, with the most righteous and moral military ever... Please stop whinning, bully!
19. Beautifully Written
Adam ,   Raanana, Israel   (07.31.06)
20. whining
debbie ,   sweden and israel   (07.31.06)
it is about time we learn that it sometimes is necessary to do what the others do. we will never be able to do it all by our selves, with so much of the world against us. whine, shout, bring the press to see the suffering and speak about the costs in lives and lost income and to rebuild what was destroyed by the rockets. tell them how many rockets come each day. how long all are in the shelters. show the children, the old and the bride and groom. talk about the fear, not only at war but every day. there is no monopol on suffering and there is no winner in war.
21. we feel sorrow
kal ,   Syria   (07.31.06)
We feel sorry for ur loss, but Mr. Guy.... u cant compare a loss of one child to 37... as a news edditor, u should be more sensable, and yet, we feel sorry for the loss of all ur loved ones... Thanks.
22. Don't Excuse Failed PR, Helps Those Who Kill Us
Paqid 16, Netzarim ,   Ra'anana, Israel   (07.31.06)
23. One of the best pieces to ever appear on Ynet.
Besalel ,   Kew Gardens, NY   (07.31.06)
Guy Benyovits hit the nail on the head.
24. EVERY HIZBALLAH ROCKET TARGETS CIVILIANS - DONT APPOLOGISE
ANDREW ,   MIAMI,FL   (07.31.06)
25. No apologies to the children of Qana
Jerry ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (07.31.06)
Great article. But why should we apologize to the children of a people who hate us, who would have grown up to kill us. Don't we know what an enemy is anymore? And the probability is that Hizbullah killed them, knowing that our sense of guilt at defending ourselves is so great that we'd take responsibility before we even investigated!!
26. The difference between American Jews and Israelis...
yg ,   hellon, israhell   (07.31.06)
Jews are considered masters of the media in the U.S., yet the Israelis fail miserably every time against the Arab propaganda machine. It may be that people around the world tend to side with the underdog, or that a picture paints a thousand words, or that the Arabs (in this case Hizbullah) are unbound by Western "rules of engagement", both in combat and media coverage, and there might even be some latent anti-Semitism involved, but the basic reason for this seemingly wall-to-wall anti-Israeli outcry, whereas worse carnages the world over receive little or no protest is the unprecedented massive coverage of events in this spot on the globe. Of course dozens of Iraqis are killed on a daily bases, and the situation in Chechnya was at times much worse, not to mention Darfur, where the body count is many thousand times higher than that of Qana, but those conflicts aren't nitpicked. Tens (and perhaps hundreds) of thousands of civilians were killed in Chechnya and they received less coverage than one building that collapsed under dubious circumstances in the southern Lebanon war zone. So Israel has two options: it either attempts to reduce media coverage, or, more realistically, it has a complete overhaul of its PR apparatus, and that means investing a lot of money, and recruiting as many smart men and women as possible to this end.
27. Sorry
Gillian ,   Ashkelon, Israel   (07.31.06)
great article.
28. # 6 - Duh???
Lauren ,   Israel   (07.31.06)
Sorry, but I cannot seem to make sense of your disconnected talkback. What is your point??? Pardon, "Israeli bombing of Lebanon"? The EU, Silent?? What on earth are you talking about? I think that you missed a huge chunk of information somewhere. My impression is that you sat watching some news broadcast on tv, and got up in the middle a few times, came back, and then got a little mixed up. Never mind, your comment proves how very clueless the Aussies are. Stay down-under, it's a lot safer there, mate.
29. YOU ARE NOT ALONE!
Trovador ,   Portugal   (07.31.06)
I am not jewish but I see all the evil the muslims represent to you especially and then to the world. But the world is blind and see only a religion of "peace". Let this 'peace' come to them and they will know how good it is. France is already feeling the pain, of so many 'peaceful'(=muslim) inhabittants. ISRAEL CHAI!
30. Still Barbaric
Syrian ,   Dubai   (07.31.06)
