stude ham ,   outremont, canada   (08.03.06)
the lebanese have taken to liying about their casualty figures in the hope of attracting better levels of world sympathy for their blunder in having allowed the iran backed terrorists into their government and free rein all over their country. 900 casualties are reported by lying siniora now. oh... how many of those are estimated because they haven't been able to dig under the rubble? probably 750 all phantom invention. or is lyin siniora telling us how many terrorists have been wiped out? that couln't be it because the bolah are denying such counts. on top of stupid the lebbies are also liars!
2. Estimation rule
Frankfurt/Germany   (08.03.06)
The estimation rule is very simple: the real Lebanon casualties are multiplied at least by 2, the real Hizbollah casualties are divided at least by 2. I am sad that Lebanon politicians speculate by bodies.
3. Move over Mr. Spielberg
Warrior ,   of truth   (08.03.06)
You've met your match. Not only do your rivals tell a better tale than you do, they actualy get the gullable media to believe their story as true. These guys may even try to rewrite history.... oops they already have - Qana II, coming soon to a movie house near you!! Sorry, Mr. Spielberg
4. Does it matter if it was 57 or 28.......
Dr Smith ,   Human Rights Watch   (08.03.06)
Does it matter if it was 57 or 28, these were inoccent civillians mostly children. This article suggests that because only 28 bodies were recovered so far, that it some how minimises the gravity of this cowardly and abhorrent act. And now the IDF has admitted that it made a mistake by using incorrect intelligence, yes this is war but when you blatently kill inoccent civillians, UN observers, destroy infrastructure, attack civillians leaving in cars and red cross vehicles, it amounts to war crimes and the world should and will persue this long after the bombs fall, I assure you.
5. Qana is a setup
Mike Hagberg ,   Minneapolis, US   (08.03.06)
Just another interesting thought. How come there is no rigor in the bodies being pulled from the rubble? It doesn't take long before a dead body begins to stiffen up. These bodies were obvious plants by the Hizbull - heavy emphasis on the bull.
6. This is what israel is about
makaryous ,   england   (08.03.06)
how can u justify this, look at these pictures, is this the "Defending" israel is doing ? http://c2ore.com/archives/?itemid=1753 It seems like its a game for them, thats why they deserve evertyhing bad that happens to them.
7. Prime time CNN - SKY - FOX
Talula ,   Israel   (08.03.06)
Had they not have lied about how many people died, they would have received no or little public support or response and people would have turned over to watch the late night movie. This government has proved it is incompetent at exerting its power over its land and now it has proved it can lie, REALLY WELL. Well done to everyone who put 2 and 2 together in the Kana incident. The world will owe Israel an apology at the end of this war. Just like they did after the Gulf War. "Thank goodness Israel had the balls to bomb Iraq's nuclear facility, god knows what would have happened if they hadn't" We (Israelis) don't want to be right, we just want to be at peace. That's all.

No comment !!!!
9. Killing children
Mary ,   London   (08.03.06)
Is killing 19 children not shameful enough?... Israel seems to have lost it's sense of humanity!
10. Qana was Hizbull setup
Mike ,   Minneapolis, US   (08.03.06)
So far the pictures and the forensic evidence show that both live people and dead children were placed in the building after the Israeli strike. It appears that Hizbull then blew up the building themselves to create more lies and propaganda. Notice that the so called rescue worker shows up hours later still carrying the same body. And take note of how many hours elapsed after the Israeli strike before anything happened to the building. .
11. Does it really matter how many???
Swiss ,   Geneva   (08.03.06)
This war is showing really how immoral people can get, on both sides... so what is the unwritten question this article is posing? if it is even one child that had died, does it mean that killing one child would be more justified than killing 20 or 30... Shame on you for asking such a question... and shame on all of you war hungry readers, who show satisfaction with news of more destruction, killing and hatred being spread across the region...
12. to #4
Frankfurt/Germany   (08.03.06)
It matters. If somebody says lies in one case, then he does it also in second, and in third... Should I continue, how many lies already said by Lebanon government and Hizballah?
13. Mr. Smith goes to both sides of the border
Kate ,   Jerusalem   (08.03.06)
One one side of the border Israeli children sit in bomb shelters, trying to blot out the constant explosions. They know those missiles are not aimed at their nation's soldiers or war machine. They know those missiles are aimed at them, at their school, at their friends, their parents, their parks and their homes. They long for sunshine and security. They have neither. On the other side of the border children crouch in small rooms hoping the next one will not hit them. They do not know the target of those missiles. But when they look out the window they see their brothers and fathers and neighbors setting up missile launchers. They see armaments dragged out from the store room below. Somewhere in the back of their little minds they may know that with every missile fired - every armament launched from the street outside brings their safety and chance of survival down another notch. Mr. Smith - yes there are war crimes afoot here. But you really need to look at both sides of the border to understand who is committing them.
14. How many were killed in Qana?
pearl ,   London   (08.03.06)
The question in the news artical: 'Where did the report that "some 60 people" were killed come from and what was it based on?' I think re answer is 'It's because they used one of the bodies 20 times for different photo opportunities..
15. Now that's recomforting...
Tiago de Jesus ,   Sao Paulo, Brazil   (08.03.06)
Hundreds dead in Lebanon, about fifty in Israel. They'll all be missed, each one.
16. Human Rights Watch
Don ,   SC, USA   (08.03.06)
Dr. Smith and the rest of your cohorts: Get your head out of the sand or remain quiet as you are showing you are showing how gullible and ignorant you are! Israel: continue your food work.
17. #4 Dr. Smith, HRW
Mr Bill ,   Chicago, USA   (08.03.06)
The real war criminals, Dear Doctor, are those pompus individuals that try to ignore that Civilians are being used as human shields by blood thirsty individuals. You and your kind truly rank up there with Hezbolla, Hamas, and the other Islamofascists as the REAL war criminals. I hope some day to see organizations like HRW being tried for supporting War Crimes. Have you brought charges against any Hezbolla or Hamas senior operatives for their support of Suicide Bombings, no just Israel, always Israel, and if they aren't in the news, then heck, lets go after the USA. You make many of us sick!
18. numbers and a doctorate
eltee ,   NY, USA   (08.03.06)
Perhaps there were only 28 killed at Qana, pehaps more, maybe less. Perhaps some of the bodies were planted, perhaps not. Perhaps the whole incident was staged, maybe not. None of that is really germaine to the point, which is that if Hezbollah had not started a war with Israel all of the victims of the war on both sides would (and I hear little crying from the Israel haters about Jewish dead and injured; what a surprise) still be alive. While I am not a fan of Chief of Staff Halutz, He said one important thing in about this conflict. Hezbollah places innocent civilians between it an the IDF in order to maximize civilian casualties, but the IDF place itself between Hezbollah and innocent Israeli civilians in order to protect them. In response to poster no.4, the "doctor" I guess your doctorate was in neither law nor english. In the same breath you trumpet the fact that the IDF admits that the bombing of the building was a mistake (not because it wasn't being used as a launch site for rockets, and thus a legitimate target) but because they thought that the building was empty of civilians, and then you stupidly continue that this mistake was a 'blatant act'. Sorry, but I've never heard of a blatent act that also is a mistake. I guess you picked up that doctorate in a Crackerjacks box. Here is a more assured number for you; over 2000 rockets and missles fired at and toward Israeli civilians. Oops, I forgot, Jews don't figure into the 'Human' or 'rights' of Human Rights Watch.
19. #4, it does matter
Suzanne   (08.03.06)
honest reporting should be getting the privilege above mere propaganda. You should know this as a human rights activist yourself (and like me).
20. To all the doubters here
Talula ,   Israel   (08.03.06)
At the end of the day, our missile in Qana probably killed two people. It's your venomous hate for Israel that will not allow you to read the new found facts. You don't want to feel stupid for believing in a terror group. Poor sad you, all of you.
21. Qana - Dr. Smith
ros ,   London   (08.03.06)
I wonder where your allegiences lie, Dr. Smith of 'Human Rights Watch'. Have you possibly fallen under the spell of the Hezbulla propoganda machine? You know very well that Israel does not target UN observers or civilians. The UN were observing the Hezbulla set up their civilians in order to be cannon fodder. Maybe you and the world should PURSUE this long after the bombs have fallen silent.
22. human thought trancends peace
brownbear ,   barcelona, spain   (08.03.06)
Human thought transcends into reality. You consciously think to let go of hate and stop the violence and it happens. When enough individuals believe this, there will be a tipping point in the consciousness of all people involved in this violence, this will lead to peace. The past does not equal the future.... this means, stop looking to the past for a reason to hate and look forward into the future of peace. By shifting your perception it will form your ultimate reality. Visualise yourselves living in peace, and the path will be shown to you.
23. War is hell, civilians die, and its regretable.
David ,   Boston, USA   (08.03.06)
If Lebanon had disarmed Hezbollah. If the UN had done anything to disarm Hezbollah none of this would have happened. Israel apologized for civilian deaths. It is the intention of the IDF to prevent civilian deaths. Hezbollah, Hamas, and other racists only relish the death of all people. If Israel used all its might against civiians there would be thousands dead. If Hezbollah had the advanced weaponry and able to use it there would be thousands death. Think about this for a moment.
24. # 4 you and your friend will never understand us
royee assis ,   tel-aviv, israel   (08.03.06)
but i will try to explane it to you: if you know "the lord of the rings" hear this: we, israelies, are like the people of gondor. we are fighting the same evil and darkness for 50 years. and if we fale, the world will be consume by the islamik jihad. you all should know that it will not stop in the distruction of israel. if we fall you will soon fallow. you all are like the hobbits. you dont care about big idea of survival. you think about the small things, and there is nothing wrong with that. the problem starts when you want the people of gondor to make peace with mordor. we want to, and we tried so many time before. but every time we where backstab. we allso have some hobbits. they have dreems, they have family, they hope, love, play, eat, drink, and sleep like all of you, but they will never grow up, they can't, they are dead. we will fight against that beast. we will defeat mordor because our alternetive is to die. rachad ,   chadi   (08.03.06)
really we are in evil situation what is the different between one killed or 60??? oh my god ...
27. Stop the killings now!
Francisco ,   Madrid (Spain)   (08.03.06)
Dear Israeli people, Any nuances like the one this article deals with, can not hide what is obvious: Israel is more a threat for peace than a victim. Statistics support that over time victims are mostly on the other side. How can it be explained? I am sure justice will prevail and war criminals will be brought to the Hague, regardless of their current office. Regards Francisco
28. RIP
(08.03.06)
I read the poor victims of Qana were buried in a massgrave. I truely hope they finally may rest in peace... and that Hezbollah won't use them AGAIN to put them under bombed Beirut buildings or in bombed cars on the highways..
