Israel should only talk to a government democratically elected by the Syrian people, which can only happen once Assad is gone; Hizbollah is disarmed; and all of Syria's WMD stock is neutralised. Syria have started a fire that they now cant control. It will be put out once Assad is gone, whcih should be soon. You arabs just never learn, do you?

Hezbollah and Nasrallah must realize it is impossible to participate in the Lebanese government and at the same time organize armed attacks in the territory of other countries. Nasrallah must choose: is his organization going to adapt to the new situation in Lebanon with free democratic elections or is he going to hold on to the old and destructive tactiqs with guerilla warfare in south Lebanon. It is clear to everyone the old tactiq is leading nowhere; it brings death and destruction; more poverty because of decline in tourism, trade etc. Lebanon could prosper and become what it once was if Hezbollah chose the path of dialogue and reconciliation.

I tend to agree with the former ambassador. In fact, neither Israel nor the US should talk with any Syrian representative. Syria is complicit in the trouble in Lebanon and Iraq. The US should just introduce Damascus to a 40kt device. Maybe after the flames subside, the Islamic world will understand how their Kytusha fire can escalate to nuclear fire. "Fire" to which they will be on the receiving end.

I cannot talk, or make deals with dictators like Assad, and expect they will honor it.. History proves that.

Read Clayton Swisher's book, "The Truth About Camp David." Best for the US and for Israel would be to revoke Indyk's US citizenship and expel him back to the outback.

On Syria, I again say read Clayton Swisher's book. Rabin had made it known he was willing to give to Syria ALL of the pre-1967 land in a peace similar to Begin's peace with Egypt. This informal offer was known as the "Rabin deposit." The US used Prince Bandar of Saudi Arabia as a go-between to Syria to send the message that Ehud Barak was willing to offer the "Rabin deposit," i.e., give back ALL the Syrian land of pre-1967, and Assad responded positively. Indyk and Ross convinced Clinton to suspend peace efforts with the Palestinians and instead work on Syria, claiming that could be done easily and quickly. Assad rented 135 hotel rooms in Geneva for a very large staff to conduct serious final negotiations with Israel. When he got there, he was told that Barak would not offer the Rabin deposit after all, but wanted to negotiate how much land it would actually give back, particularly keeping land on the west of Kinneret. Assad was understandably upset that he had been deceived by Indyk and Ross, and packed his bags and went back to Syria. Except for the deception of Indyk and Ross, Israel could today have the same peace with Syria that it has with Egypt. And peace with Syria would mean NO HEZBOLLAH and NO ROCKETS.. INDYK AND ROSS ARE TRAITORS TO ISRAEL AND TO THE UNITED STATES.
