1. The other way arround!
Chris ,   Canada   (08.04.06)
That kind of thinking may hide behind main stream media. But people that can think for them self know to well Israeli past aggression, suppression and terror that it have criminally done to other countries ever since Israel was created. I though that the Jews would have learned some thing from the Nazi did to them or maybe the Jews learned too much from Nazi and became them. I don’t applaud Hezbollah or any other organization but I consider them the defender and Israel the offender. Not the other way around like allot of bogus media is trying to brainwash people with. A lot more people really knows what is really going on than you think.
2. Chris, if you don't like ISrael get the HELL off this Israel
Elle ,   USA   (08.04.06)
website. We don't give a shit about what you Jew-haters think.
3. Wake up Chris of Canada!
Tomer ,   Hod Hasharon, Israel   (08.04.06)
Let's see. People in Northern Israel were going about their daily lives, when the Hizbullah kidnapped 2 soldiers, killed some more, and started lobbing rockets over the border into Israel. I think the current count must be upwards of 2000. There were 229 in one day last week alone. And you think Israel is the "offender"? And what other countries has Israel suppressed, pray? When people leave Israelis in peace to live normal lives, Israeli will NOT attack them. Let's say the good 'ole US of A started firing rockets into Canada. Would Canada be the offender in that case? You're obviously a complete and utter moron, as evidenced by the thinly disguised anti-Semitic line about the Nazis. No wonder the world is in such a terrible state. .
4. Good point Chris...good article Mr Sofer
Jack ,   France   (08.04.06)
You might be treaten as antisemit or jew-hater ot what ever. Your are not even welcome to read the news. I call what was said about you: Agression. And what I say about Israeli war against Lenanon too. The Israely leaders realized their mistakes as being prooved by Ronny Sofer and I hope that this agression won't be a start of a regional war.
5. You stupid Olmert!!
samer ,   lebanon   (08.04.06)
You stupid Olmert!! We are destroying each others!! so fuck you and fuck Rice with you!! i think the people should make a revolution about this stupid goverment!!
6. Answer to #5
Eric ,   Chicago   (08.05.06)
I agree, Olmert is weak and not very bright. But Israel and Jewish People had bad leaders. He is not the first one. And, remember, he has no life appointment. But you have this Nasrallah rulling Lebanon. We have no choice but to kill him and a few thousand of his supporters. After they all will be killed and you move to Mecca or other place, we will have a more constructive conversation. Just do what we tell tell you to do. Pack your stuff and move out.
7. The Peculiar Story of Shrinking Speech
Bassam ,   Dubai   (08.05.06)
Olmert is proving to be Al-Sahhaf (Ex-Iraqi Information minister) of Israel. Isreali's are known to be smarter than that!
8. Olmert & Peretz
SAM ,   USA   (08.05.06)
I guess Peretz has to deal with another sleepless night. 33 innocent civilians ( workers ) were savagely killed again by your '"check again and again" brave pilots. Stop this insane war before you loose more INT'L support. You are losing on the ground by the day, and the IDF's detterence power is also being erroded by the day not to mention public opinion world wide.
9. Someone explain
Stewart ,   USA   (08.05.06)
Someone's got to explain this to me. How did Israel end up with someone like Olmert? In the U.S. the president runs with a vice president that normally supports his political orientation. There is a continuity if a vice president must take over. So how did it go from Sharon the Hawk to Olmert the liberal dove? What quirk of the Israeli political system caused this? This seems to be the real inherent problem. If people vote for one type of leader, they shouldn't be stuck with anotherone when that leader becomes disabled. It is like bait and switch campaigning. I'm ready to sign up for American friends of Likud. So someone, please explain how Israel got into this political mess, if there is any hope of resolving this problem. Thanks.
10. Listen #6 and those alike, We do not move to anywhere!
Palestinian   (08.05.06)
This is our land. Not Mecca! When Arabs in the 7th Century came to Syria and Palestine, there did not ethnically cleanse the existing population. On the contrary, they absorbed their culture as they absorbed roman cultures and so on. We are the original people of this land. If any one will move out of this area, it is all Jews who came from Europe and Russia and Poland!
11. thinking twice before firing again?
alan ,   frisco   (08.05.06)
About 2500 rockets have hit Israel so far with no second thoughts apparently. So Olmert needs to do something that will give them second thoughts? What would that be, another stupid statement or real action. Or is he just trying to run out the clock so he does not have to make a decision that Arik could make in half a second? Show us what you are made of Olmert or walk off the stage of history.
12. Nerdy Leaders in a Bad 'Hood
Israeli Academic   (08.05.06)
Here in Israel we live in a bad neighborhood. For years the Israeli Left, led by the media and academia, has brainwashed the public into thinking that if we make concessions to our neighbors, there is a chance they will leave us alone. So much for that theory! All we have gotten from our concessions is the Hamas and Hizbollah. After this war is over, Olmert and Peretz will be history and the Israeli people will vote against further unilateral concessions and this will probably spell the end of any chance that the Palestinians ever had for an independent state. It is hard to know which is the more foolish, the Israeli Left or the Arabs. The Left always gets our backs pushed up against a wall, forcing us to fight, and the Arabs never miss a chance screw things up for themselves.
13. Israel needs a new government
Nannette ,   London, UK   (08.05.06)
Israel needs a new government who will do what's best for Israel, and not keep striving to please the international leaders. There should be a war cabinet, with experienced generals who don't have to rely on aerial bombing, but can use ground forces to root out and beat the terrorists. Olmert and Peretz are playing "armchair soldiers", even though the survival of Israel is at stake!
14. The "Don" must be Punished!
John K ,   Colorado Springs USA   (08.05.06)
Olmert's weak kneed leadership at this time is an abysmal failure that has eroded both military deterrance and lowered the bar dangerously to what Israel will endure from its neighbors and the terrorists. It also weakened the position of moderates in the Arab world forcing them to Hezbollah. Past leaders would have wreaked havoc and unleashed the dogs of war rather than mince around the battlefield. Syria is the nearest mafia "Don" who has sent their hezbollah thugs to kill. For Olmert not to punish Don Assadi after this is a failure of leadership and bold direction that will have consequences for years to come. Lesson learned all the way back to Orde Wingate and Moshe Dayan have eroded and the clock is ticking.
15. New Doctrine, Not New Leaders
Nick ,   NYC, USA   (08.05.06)
Israeli military doctrine calls for aerial bombardment as nearly the sole means of waging war, lest the IDF suffer casualties. This is understandable, given the conscripted nature of the IDF--no one wants their sons, relatives and friends coming home in body bags. But "assymetric" wars, in particular, cannot be fought almost exclusively from the air. So I don't think it's really a question of changing Israel's leadership, because Israel's military doctrine will remain the same. Thus, before hastily embarking upon future misadventures of this nature, Israel needs to ask itself some hard questions, i.e., is the country willing to sustain a fairly high number of casualties to achieve its goals? If the answer is "No," then the war can't be fought.
16. OLMERT FOR HARPER, PERETS FOR HILLIER
ishmael ishmael ,   toronto canada   (08.05.06)
Idea: let's trade your PM Olmert for our - Stephen Harper - and your Defence Minister - ["Nasralla will never forget my name] Peretz, for our own "scum" fighter, Rick Hilier. Harper lost his head, said that Israel's assault on Lebanon was "A measured response". He and Olmert are inter-changeable. He extended Canadian invasion of Afghanistan to 'kill the terrorists.' Hillier boasted that Canadian troops were going to Afghanistan to "Kill the scum" who "hate our freedoms". Seems that all he is doing is sending live Canadians to fight "scum" and bringing back dead "heroes" - dead at the hands of 'cowardly' IEDs. Hillier and Peretz belong to the same comedy club. Harper and Olmert both lost their heads.
17. #1 - Bogus? Look up Hizbollah's charter
Sharon ,   Haifa, Israel   (08.05.06)
18. #10 - Nice try, but we're not that ignorant
Haifa, Israel   (08.05.06)
Your information is off about both sides. There are Israelis and Palestinians alike who have both deep roots and immigrant backgrounds here, and plenty of history of conflict among Arabs in this region. Violence against Jews by Arabs began long before the struggle to create the latest incarnation of the state of Israel.
19. Mr Olmert
Gijs van Suiylekom ,   Netherlands   (08.05.06)
Unfortunately you don't have astrong leader. There is no clear thinking or so it seems. Fact: Syria & Iran are actively supporting Hizbollah terrorists Fact: MSM are biased against you in most cases Fact: you cannot make a distinction between terrorists hiding between a supportive population and "innocent"civilians Fact: by non accepting long range missiles against Tel Aviv, you do accept short range missiles falling on you. Ridiculous Are you conducting a war with lawyers from a law school? Please use your maximum force destroy Syria & Lebanon completely without regards. Whatever you do they won't love you, but they will fear you and fear will work. Do your duty!
20. Destruction?
Chris ,   LA   (08.06.06)
People in the world are being shown more of the Lebanese destruction than that in Galilee? Why? Because Lebanon's towns villages and parts of cities have been completely flattened, while in Israel it's a handful of buildings that have been hit. Also you need to check CNN and other American media, because even though there is a hundred times more destruction in Lebanon, they show the destruction in Israel more because they are biased.
21. Israel ... WAKE UP
JO ,   Beirut / LEBANON   (08.06.06)
I live in Jounieh, in this area lives the majority on Lebanese who are against Hezbullah, and who never considered Israel as an enemy, Thx to the IAF and after attacking Jounieh now they do so. We still have one more bridge, I hope that IAF will bomb it as soon as possible, and continue to kill civilians and destroy infrastructure, because still some Lebanese do not consider Israel as real enemy we would like to push them to see the clear image. What the hell you are talking about and for what IDF is doing that? Admit that your Government lost against Hezbullah resistance, and the more IAF hit civilians and infrastructure the more Israel is loosing supporters for peace and proving more and more that Hezbullah was right by defending its strategy. Where is the difference between the strategy of IDF and the one that was adopted by the Nazis? Bombing roads that lead out of villages in the South of Lebanon that civilians might use to evacuate and kill women & children there!! Olmert’s strategy and after receiving his orders from G.W.Bush is based on making civilians suffer for the sins of Hezbullah whom they failed to defeat them till now even in one battle. Your government is blind, real blind with hatred and arrogance. You will hit the wall pretty soon. Lebanon won’t surrender, and the more you hit civilians the more Hezbullah is gaining the support of even moderate Lebanese people, Go out from your shelters and see the truth of this war, your troops didn’t accomplish one victory and day after day they are COMING BACK HOME IN COFFINS? IT’S LEBANON DON’T FORGET. For me It’s more clear now, your stupid Government have chosen the hate as a strategy towards Lebanon. And to All Lebanese I say: you are wondering why Israel is bombing Christian areas? Do you really think Israel cares about Christians Leb? Is Beirut airport ONLY for Muslims? Are Power stations ONLY for Muslims?? Are Bridges ONLY for Muslims?? It’s a war against Lebanon. They want to destroy Lebanon and they admitted it before they started this war. You already forgot what IDF chief said: Turning Lebanon 20 years back??? Israel doesn’t have the courage to face Hezbuallah face to face because they want to avoid troops casualties so they are destroying Lebanon in order to make Lebanese people hate Hezbuallah and get rid of it by themselves or Hitting Hard Christians thinking this would lead to a civil war between Muslims and Christians in Lebanon. Unfortunately, Israel gave Iran and Syria what they wanted and offered Victory to Hezbullah. A Real Lebanese
22. Lebanon
JP ,   UG   (08.06.06)
It is a pity Lebanon has had to look a mess but this would have been stopped. I think those in Lebs should think twice about the blame. I agree you all love the resistance so much however the your diplomacy would have worked when Isreal asked you to do something about the captured soldiers. Fine you may unite now against Isreal but remember the price you are paying. Those hundreds can never come back and stop that stupid martyr feeling and them preach about innocent lives lost! When Isreal is gone there will be alot more work to do in there than just building your infrastructure. For those of you who feel well Hezb is been good, look at what they have done to the idea that the Palestinians would have to talk with Isreal. Both sides have suffered equally bse life is life whether one or many until you eradicate radicals not even a cease fire is gonna help! Organise your country cos Syria n Iran are not bothered.
23. # 5
JP ,   UG   (08.06.06)
Oh first clear the mess in you own house before preaching! Dont you think your govt is stupid as well. Oh no, they just do not see it that way. Why should you let some one cause trouble at the neighbour's while residing at your place. Dont you think your govt had potential to talk to Isreal but what did they do? Sat and watched things get from bad to worse.
24. # 21
JP ,   UG   (08.06.06)
And Lebanon as well gave Syria and Iran what they wanted! Not fair!

You Go Elle!
26. #10...you were a latecomer it seems
Marilyn ,   JUDEA   (08.21.06)
thats what you said 7th century...Thus JUDEA now being called Palestine...Roman occupation until end of mandate. So not wanting to sound too petty, BUT WHO WAS HERE BEFORE !!!! Who ruled eg David ,Solomon ..Israel and Judea..heard of that? So Jews that were exiled return after 2,000 years to find squatters. And a lot of Jews still living in their HOMELAND, usually getting along ok with the arabs until your fellow arabs found how good it was to use you. Why didnt Jordan want you, why didnt Egypt want you and why didnt Lebanon want you. You are an enemy to yourselves.
