1. Land for Peace?
Yisraeli   (08.07.06)
A useless jingle, jingle is all it is. If I was PM I would clean out Sth. Lebanon from all moslems till the Litani river. I would then annex it to Israel and proclaim to those that want war with Israel you will lose territory not teporarily but permanently. I would then invite all former Lebenese Christian residents to return to the area and invite Jewish settlement for those that wished. But then Im not PM, Instead you have all these useless morons dancing around the same stupid fire claiming victory at every crackle and pop.
2. BE A LIGHT TO ARABS, not a blind lie
DE Teodoru ,   ny usa   (08.07.06)
"Unilat Withdrawl" is trying to have your cake and eat it too. Arabs in Israel will politically takeover...that's the demographics. And so, to stay a Jewish state while faking Bush's Palestinian state commitment, Olmert tries to give a little in order to keep a lot. Truth is, GOYIM ARE NOT DUMB AND BLIND. They fear Jihad now more that Israel fears HAMAS, so they want a Pal State. But Israel can't be Afrikaaner S. Africa. Sharon realized his mistake accepting that he can't have it; alas, God silenced him before he could apply his learning. But Olmert need not learn the hard way. ISRAEL MUST INTEGRATE AS LEADER INTO MIDEAST. It won't ever be welcome into EU. But by teaching Arabs how to survive soon to come drop in oil price with high-tech ,it can become their light in a time of darkness. For that it must develop the wisdom of magnanimity to go with its steel will. Historical lies are like opiates: ultimately addicting until they destroy your reality and finally your liver. Israel must not die of a bad liver. It must live by its great minds.
3. Lebanon: Peace in our Time
Aaron ,   OZ   (08.07.06)
The only possible positive outcome of the current situation is by arming the SLA, and other maronite and Druse communities throughout Lebanon. As Hizbollah has used its terror infrastructure to cow these communities, so they will get it back in spades if Hizbollah is weakened, and their enemies are strengthened. The Shia are not stupid (I know, it is arguable) they will leave prior to the massacre that would otherwise ensue. Then all that is required is to secure a common border with Syria, alongside Israel. Inshallah

I fully agree. Why not "Peace For Peace" ?
5. Arabs usually abiding
Jake ,   Calgary, Canada   (08.07.06)
Did PLO abide by the agreement to renounce violence as required by the Oslo accord? Usually is not enogh.
6. land for peace?
paulo2006 ,   lisbon,portugal   (08.07.06)
when it comes to the land for peace deal with arafat it did not work. A peace deal was just the preambule to the intifadah and more shooting. There is no option for Israell besides the Bosnia option . Retreat to the 67 borders arm the setlers and prepare that west bank will blow up. Thats what the serbs did in bosnia and they were sucesseful.
7. Unteachables
nul ,   Israel   (08.07.06)
And do you think it has taught them anything? Just you wait till this war ends and they'll tell it's the proof that they were right. Logic or at least tactical (not to mention strategic) thinking are not a part of their intellectual process. BTW, where is Mr. Barak? Somehow I haven't heard him protecting his decision lately or at least saying something about the current events...
8. end of unilateral withdrawels
chana ,   Jerusalem   (08.07.06)
We never learn from experience
9. Unilateral Withdrawls
Allan ,   london   (08.07.06)
its a shame that israel doesnt learn and that withdrawing does nothing except make the enemy even stronger. Look what happened in Gaza and now Lebanon, where Iran has spent 100 million dollars a year arming Hizbollah. Who are no longer a militia but an army, with strategic missles. Withdrawing is a waste of time and should be stopped. Unluckily Israel has Olmert who let slip he may still withdraw from Judea and Samaria. Thus making the central area open to missle attacks. I think we should just use the Serb option and kick them out, there are enough places for the Palestinains to move to and you cannot have this continue forever. Israel is Jewish land and it is time for the arabs to realise that they have more than enough land to re-settle the so called Palestinians.
10. when the Arabs sign agreements...
svietka ,   eli,shomron   (08.07.06)
they NEVER abide by them! Even though its not a bad article(even if nothing new or exciting was presented here)I would like to see at least 1 example by Mr.Plozker when arabs abided by any agreement. If there is no open war with Jordan or Egypt it only means 1thing and that is that for now, at present, its not in those countries interest to be involved in any arm-struggle with us-a situation that can change in minnutes if it so suites them. Arabs DO NOT keep any agreements signed because IT IS RELIGIOUSLY permitted to break those agreements. Koran clearly states that ANITHING signed with INFIDELS is of temporary nature, so Mr. Plozker-next time-plz do present FACTS to back up yo opinions
11. land for peace
z.bear ,   zefat   (08.07.06)
there is no such thing as land for peace! the only way to have real peace is to show our enemies what they'll get is they mess with us! BULLETS & BOMBS!
12. Land for Land
James ,   Glasgow, Scotland   (08.07.06)
Perhaps the answer to Israel's borders is before our eyes without us seeing it. Is it possible that the Christian and Druze populations of Lebanon could be exchanged for the Westbank and Gazzan Palestinians? Thus Israel would have no enemies within her borders rather additional fighting men for the IDF. The Palestinians would have no complaint as they would still be in what they see as Palestine in the north. That would leave Lebanon and Syria as still the threat but at least Israel would know where they all were. Of course this could also apply to any Israeli Arab who fancied a change of scenery. Just a thought. Comments on its value would be welcome.
13. Withdrawal perceived as weakness
Sher   (08.07.06)
Unilateral withdrawal WAS weakness. The misconception in Israel, cultivated by spin doctors at home and abroad, was that dumping a problem without solving it indicated some sort of magnanimity on our part. The reasons that had brought us to that point were never tackled and went on festering. Even if you are not on good terms with your next door neighbour you can't expect him not to be furious if your mess, your noise or your actions disturb his. And of course vice versa. Our future here depends on sorting out our differences with our neighbours as equals. Hopefully it is never too late to start.
14. I doubt we have learned even yet
Mark ,   San Fran USA   (08.07.06)
Sadly I sense that our new leaders have not the common sense nor experience to realize that the Utopia is OVER. Land for peace as SHAMIR realized, is STUPID, as it only results in us giving away land for MORE WAR and MORE ATTACKS and in this case later to be observed - MORE MISSILES...( and possibly bigger missiles hitting Tel Aviv and elsewhere ). SEVER - you have it right, but possibly not strong enough, as we won't even get any kind of durable peace out of the forthcoming UN agreement. We need to take out enough of the missiles and gut enough of Hezzbollah that we know we won't see anything like this again. That is our roadmap to peace, that might have a chance of lasting. The agreement will prove to be worthless, and we won't see any durable positive result unless we take out the missiles before we stand down. Harsh reality tragically. Tzahal has mroe work to do yet in the coming weeks, the faster the better. Enuf with the handwringing moralizing, go get em and B'Hatzlacha Chaverim...
15. Land for Peace ???
N B Shalom   (08.07.06)
Dream!!! The minute Egypt and the rest of the gang will feel Israel can be defeated they will scrap all the useless paper agreements and go to war. Just last eek came calls from the egyption judiciary to Mubarak to scrap the camp david agreements. Its time to listen to torah which is true wisdom not to give away even one Iota of land.
16. PEACE FOR WHO?
MAYA ,   England   (08.07.06)
PEACE for whom? for only israelis? why you always talk about syria and lebanon when you are backed by usa the biggest murderes in the world and there will be no peace unless israel and usa stop being bullies so im sorry and SHARON i hope he gets what he deserves remember the massacres in 1982 please do nt foget you have blood on your hands and do not forget out friend here in britain france and usa gave israelis the land they shud have made shure they did a good job of it in case you are illiterate im saying jews and muslims can live in peace but this is the holy land and the zionists hav one goaL but lets not forget who is the most powerful the creator and whoever engages in persecution WAIT JUST WAIT WHEN THE FINAL HOUR COMES AND THE WORLD DESTROYS HERSELF THROWING OUT ALL HER WORRIES YOU WILL HAVE NO WHERE TO RUN THIS LIFE IS LIKE AN HOUR
17. Solution!!!
A K ,   Canada   (08.07.06)
Prayer will not lead to Peace. The solution is give the Palestanians independent land and than Isreal and Palestanians can live side by side in peace. The problem is when people don't have any good reason to live in their present and they don't see any hope in the future for themselves and their children the problem will never get solved. Arabs can't kill all the Jews in Israel and Israel can't clean up Middle East killing all Arabs. The solution is simple live and let the others live. The Jews and Arabs are living in that region since the begining of civilization. Their have this superiority complex which is more based on culture traditions and enthincity rather than religion. Muslims are Jews are very close to each other in their religious beliefs.

19. No peace because of Dar al Harb
Bezalel ,   Tel Aviv   (08.08.06)
Israelis can forget about ever signing any lasting agreements with Muslims because according to the Koran, any land not ruled over by Islamic Sharia Law, is considered a 'House of War (Dar al Harb)'. There will be a constant effort by Muslims to destroy Jewish ruled Israel. There will similarly be the same effort to ultimately destroy Europe and the Americas and Asia until they are all Islamic ruled. Not all Muslims feel this way. Unfortunately, just like not all Germans were inclined to Nazism, when power falls into evil hands, the good people (moderate Muslims and normal Germans) are forced to shut up to survive, or are killed or radicalized. Because the media (New York Times, London's Guardian, BBC, CNN, inter alia) want news stories, they too are either misled by staged propoganda by the evil parties, bribed and corrupted, or threatened of frightened (Daniel Pearl beheading sent a message to any investigative journalists hoping to report stories which would put these evil parties in a bad light). Thus with the global media in their pocket, the evil parties have managed to further radicalize the Muslim street and this has now snowballed into a most difficult situation. Of course all around the world infidels like secular Christians and Jews tend to believe this mass media propoganda too. We are currently so off course in world that even events like the Madrid and London bombings hardly brought about a general understanding of just how dangerous a threat the world is facing from these Jihadists. What to do? Some used to feel containment until burn out was a solution. Now we are seeing with the radicalizion factor multiplying adherents to the cause, and acts of terror being scaled up, that containment until burn out is a major losing strategy. Given that there is little chance of turning around world opinion due to the constant media brainwashing, it seems as if America, UK and Israel are basically on their own and will have to be more unpopular in their war efforts by using their weapons more forthrightly and forgetting about holding back to appease worlp opinion. So expect the next phase to result in wholesale slaughter of Muslim terror groups. Thereafter the world will make the victors (Israel, Usa , UK) feel so bad, that once again improper solutions will be foisted upon the world. How will this leave Israel? The best it can hope for is a situation akin to Gemany and Japan after the 2nd world war, viz. the so called Palestinian population will continue to exist but without any semblance of a military force. In fact, if smart enough, Israel should go for annexation of Gaza and thge so called West Bank, allowing the arabs population to coexist, but all administration including schools ans policing will be under Israeli control. No more UNRWA. West Bank Arabs to become Jordanian citizens with Israeli resident alien (green) cards. Gazans to become Egyptian citizens with Israeli green cards. This eliminates the Jewish demographic problem, gives a more humane treatment to the Arabs because they will be given a normal life with all educational and work opportunities just like any other Israeli resident. Moderates will be encouraged to flourish rather than be silenced or murdered as under the current Fatah/Hamas rule. The greatest crime against humanity has been the Arab treastment of the so called Palestinian Arabs. Refugee camps will be dismantled and no longer will these poor people be used as pawns in a Dar al Harb Muslim conspiracy. More about solving the wider world crisis upon invitation.
20. Solution! Bad One...
Eva ,   Rishon Le'Zion   (08.08.06)
Israel gave the Palestinians their own land, and what did that accomplish? Kassam Rockets! Destructions of hothouses and infrastructure, smuggling of weapons and mass destruction. Great Solution!!!!
21. puzzle

if we can not solve a puzzle we return to the first square ,,,,sure the unilateral is not the first
22. # solution
(08.08.06)
correction : Arabs have certainly not been living in "Palestine" since the beginning of civilization. They came from "Arabia" and they conquered the area.
