1. on arrogance and contempt.
cyrus ,   nyc, ny, usa   (08.06.06)
i thought hezballah was over and done with. day 26 and rockets are still raining on the promissed land ? israel beat 3 arab armies in 6 days once, and turned an awful defeat into victory in 20 days, yet a small band of terrorist jihadisare still shelling israel to this day ??? we are told that there are 3000 HA jihadists in thee south of lebanon, and we are told we killed 600 of them, yet they're still fighting us in aita al-shaab ?? 3 km from the border ??? so 3000 jihadists are still defying the mighty idf and the more than 10,000 troops on the ground?? could it be that failures of the idf are rooted in the terrible arrogance in which israelis are brought up and which has become a part of its national charachter and its army ??? israel's arrogance is demonstrated in its profound contempt for arabs. remember the early days of yom kippur ? or lebanon part 1?? has israel learned that opressed people will provide tough and motivated fighters and not crazies and idiots dreaming of allah and the virgins he'll provide ??? you think about that ?? oh, how the mighty have fallen.

Let's see if they cover this incident the same way they cover others in Lebanon.. Why don't we scream massacre and show the dead bodies to the cameras? Why not, because we are civilized westerns..

That is why we are civilised and you are not. You revel in the death of enemy civilians and we mourn them. And that is why the forces of Islamofascism must be decisively beaten if the West is to survive. I can assure you that when it comes to fighting proper armies and not terrorists hiding behind civilians such wars will be over in a very short time. Thus, when Israel eventually takes down Syria, that latter nation will be comprehensively defeated within 24 hours. It is then you will discover exactly why Arab civilisation has advanced not a jot or tittle in the last one thousand years.

It's a good thing that Hizbullock rockets are as inaccurate as your assumptions. This would be over if Israel were not concerned about collateral damage, unlike Hizbullah whose rockets kill indescriminately. Have you been by ground zero lately? I'll bet there are 6 million New Yorkers that would be willing to give you a one way ticket to Lebanon to be with your friends.

17. To all the hezzbollah supporters
Ze'ev ,   Haifa   (08.06.06)
Let's look at the facts. If Israel wasn't care about civillians (and their property) it would FLATTEN ALL (cover bombing)the villages in southern Lebanon and neighborhood in Tyre, Beirut, Baal-Bek etc. After making a complete destruction (not only the roads, bridges and couple of houses) IDF would send its troops to clean the area. BUT as far as I know the villages in southern Lebanon are still there and our soldiers are dying for our rmoral principles. Now let's look at Hizbollah. They openly praise death of our civillians and treat at as "achievement". They don't even try to hide their joy of seing innocent people dead. It is their aim, so they are terrorists. Why do they target civillains? Because they know that this is their only weapon... This is the truth and you should think about it.

"Where the hell is the IDF??" I imagine just about to attack Beirut. You really should get off the internet and take shelter.
19. Expect the Worst
Michael Shiders ,   Newcastle, UK   (08.06.06)
I'm not going to condone Hezbollah's actionas nor would I ever defend them, but a message to all Israelis: don't expect a country to sit back, watch itself get destroyed, and not bother to retaliate. You cannot bomb a problem out of existence.

Anna ,   Sydney   (08.06.06)
Thank God there are rational, decent human beings left in England. Reading the Guardian the other day my heart sank to see the wave of hatered and pure ignorance sweeping the UK. We will beat Islamofascism but the toll it takes on the innocent is truly horrendous. Let's hope Iran and Syria get what's coming to them in the very near future.
21. #7 Unfortunate
magrudis ,   Houston, TX   (08.06.06)
It is unfortunate that Hizbullah has succeeded in turning opinion through provoking Israeli attacks on Lebanese soil. Once Hizbullah is sent packing back to Syria and Iran, the Lebanese will thrive. I know it is hard to see this while Israeli bombs are falling on your town. Hopefully it will be over soon.
22. The Arab will have to pay the price for this massacre
Vijay   (08.06.06)
This is a sad day for the Israeli people, but the Arabs shouldn't think they are safe. They will pay a heavy price for this what has happened, with their terrorist blood. And in Nablus they are celebrating this? The IAF should bomb Nablus and other cities in the West Bank like the attacks on Gaza. Although, I am not a Jew, but a Hindu , I support the Jewish state of Israel.
23. To 6 YES!!!!
Da dude   (08.06.06)
The fact is that every war Israel has fought and will continue to fight has been a war about Israel's existence. Unlike Arab countries where they are only fighting for their armies survival and to ensure that their army isn't damaged to heavily and they don't suffer to many losses. The fact is that wars will end in the mid east when countries understand that fighting agaisnt Israel is a war that will include your existence as a state aswell. That we are willing to destroy everything that makes you a state to ensure that we never have to fight them again. Currently Israel should destroy all Lebanese military, police, civil defense, plumbing, sewage treatment, electricity, radio, and what ever else infrastructure. Make this country completely unlivable or send them back 200 years in time. That should be the punishment for their crime. Because I as an Israeli have had enough of these wars. The punishment for these wars should be that they are in the same position as Israel if it were to lose any war.
24. To 16 you really don't know what unlivable is

"has israel learned that opressed people will provide tough and motivated fighters and not crazies and idiots dreaming of allah and the virgins he'll provide ??? " they are crazies and idiots, which does not mean we (the Israelis) are not taking them seriously. its all in the eye of the beholder. u chose to call them tough and motivated fighters likening them to, lets say, the French Resistance to the Nazis. u keep doing that u brave NYC guy, but dont forget to prep your bomb shelter (do u have one?) defeatist rhetoric will surely help you evade another stray jetplane headed for God forbid where... as for us in israel - yes we"re arrogant, obnoxious, unruly and generally uneuropean. we fall and get back up, and just like the previous times, we will prevail and overcome, and more importantly, outlive our enemies - just like we have done until now. PS if we hadnt been brought up the way we were, we would be cleaning camel shit in the streets of Jaffa, Nablus and el-Quds at best, wearing yellow sextagonal stars. so shut up.

First: How can you support the "Party of Allah" when you call yourself a Christian? Second: How can you be sure that Jesus is on your side? After all there is Christians here in Israel too... Does he support countries? I, as a Christian, just hope and pray for an end of this war, hate, suffering, destruction and terror- not only for Israel, but for Lebanon too!
