We are not naive and clearly understand that we can’t achieve long term solution with only military actions. We understand that we can’t totally destroy guerilla’s ability to strike. We are just doing the best we can. What is the alternative? Wait until Hezbollah will possess weapons of mass destruction? What will we do when they use them? Nuke Lebanon? Iran? We are just doing our best. We will weaken Hezbollah and it will take them years to restore there abilities. This is minimum we can do for self defense. The solution is not in Israel or in Lebanon. It is in hands of international community. Virtually all countries, once experiencing terror attacks, declared war on terror, protested double standards and stated that only international cooperation will allow winning this war. However, Russia and EU refused to include Hezbollah in their terror lists and there is endless list of actions international community could do and didn’t done to stop terror. International community fails to oppose terrorism when it is not directly aimed on their countries. The recognition of real danger is coming too slow and too late. Terrorism is not about religion or ideology; it is about means of achieving whatever political goal. It shouldn’t be tolerated at any place and in any form. If international community will fail in this war it will bring destruction of entire mankind. Whenever any state, political party, organization is using terrorism it should be opposed by overwhelming power of entire world independently of economical or political interests. In this case Hizbullah attacked first and we retaliated - so perhaps in this case your comment was very apt - the world cannot expect us to sit back and watch our country be destroyed without doing something about it. Secondly Hizbullah is not a country, it is a terrorist organisation. It is supported only by a minority of Lebanese people, a fact that should be obvious to you from one very simple fact - despite the fact that we are bombing Lebanon their army has NEVER gotten involved.
