Yes Zack Israel does want peace. Look at their history of pulling out and giving up land as no other nation has ever done in the past. Israel wants peace so badly it almost toppled itself when it allowed thousands of missles to be fired for years into it's territtory without major consquences to those firing the rockets. Now Israel has realized there can be no peace without better security. It's about time. Do you believe that war just suddenly stops because the UN says there is a resolution? Hizbullah is NOT subject to the UN. They are not a government or nation. They are an armed force illegally operating inside a recognized State. They established tunnels rocket launchers and other infrastructure. Should Israel allow this to remain on it's border? Let Olmert send 10 times as many men into Lebanon as long as the final objective of the removal of Hezbullah's ability to attack Israel is accomplished. When the UN troops arrive then and only then should Israel stop and allow UN troops to do their job.

This is not a war between Israel and Hizbollah. It is a war between Israel and Iran. Hizbollah is merely Iran's puppet and Lebanon is its stage.

Peace (absence of gunfire) means nothing if there is no longterm security along with it. The people of Israel are fighting for their right to exist without the threat of some terrorists hothead or insane Muslim leader trying to remove them from the map of the Middle East. Why does the "civilized" world have such a hard time understanding that Isreal deserves peace AND security, which means absence of gunfire AND peace of mind about its neighbor's intentions. I'm surprised the people of Israel have put up with Hezbollah and the Lebonese people (who have sat by and allowed Hezbollah to gain strength) as long as they have done so. Hopefully, Israel will be able to neutralize Hezbollah before the IDF has to hand the southern territory over to the Lebonese Army, and hopefully the LA-UNIFIL forces will be able to maintain a true peace on Lebanon's southern border with Israel.
