4. Condolences... to ALL
(08.13.06)
Death,Pain and suffering is all what wars and warmongers bring to both sides of every armed conflict. My condolences to all who lostr their loved ones, on whichever side of the border they are. Don't forget about 378 lebanese children under 10 years of age killed in one month. They must have been Hizbollahis firing katyushas.
5. Grossman
a adas ,   washington, dc   (08.13.06)
I am sorry for your loss. I wish there were more people like you in Israel, with a common sense approach and with genuine respect to every bodys wright to a peaceful coexistence in the middle east, including the Palestinians, it would have saved many lives.
6. Sorry for the loss. This is because of the rookie, Olmert.
Tony ,   Antilias, Lebanon   (08.13.06)
Olmert was warned before this war by nasrallah that he is new and doesnot know Lebanon well. He also added that he will make of south Lebanon a graveyard for Israeli soldiers. But do you think that olmaert really cared. All what he cared about was how not to loose his position. why Olmert did not send his own son( note that Nasrallah did 7 years ago and his son was killed too) to the battlefield instead of these kids who knows nothing about this war, what they are figthing and for what. In fact, there was no reason for this war at all. The fake reason was the kidnapped soldiers and here we see at the end that Olmert has just accepted the negotiations to get them back. I was really sad when I heard that this soldier was that of David's who was against this shitty war. I also was against Hezbolla because they were seen here by us, the christians, as a radical movement. Now however I do not. I see them as defenders who put their life for one reasons, defend Lebanon. Finally, it is true that no one won this war. But most def, Hezbolla won more than Isael did, way more. the most important is politically where he will gain more voices. Plus, Nasralla is now the leader of the arab world who also did not like him before because is a shi'ete and not a sunni. Let us not forget that hezbollah now has one more card(kidnapped soldiers) where he will bring back 4 lebanese citizens who are not shi'ete but druz muslims, thus increase the support of the druzz muslims for him. There are alot more gains for hezbolla but those mentioned are the most important. At the end I will pray for David'd family and for all my fellow citizens who died in this conflict.

9. SORRY FOR URI....
yann ,   Paris, France   (08.13.06)
We are here sorry for Uri and the Grossman family . I still consider that the mission was necessary and that Israel security is more important that ISrael image in the world. Believe that Israel's action to use force against Hezb. is supported by a silencious part of westerners. We start to understand that one's need to risk his life to protect his Future. remember Ousama ben laden's challenge " We love more death than you weterners( americans) love life". Now Uri was laid to rest, maybe the solution is technical in a military point of view but it's absolutly not diplomatic for the moment.
10. War Is Madness
World Citizen ,   the world   (08.13.06)
So many lost on both sides and for what? Israel are you any safer now? A just and equitable solution for the Palestinians will give you far more peace and security than all the land your warmongers covet. Negotiate now and bring peace to the Middle East.
11. So Sorry
Pat Elkins ,   USA   (08.13.06)
I am so sorry for the lost of any lives in Israel I have one question WHERE is Olmert sons?? They are in Europe taking it easy while other do there fighting SHAME
12. do I say what many are thinking?
Yisraeli   (08.13.06)
Firstly my condolences on your loss. Now I will say what many think but perhaps wont put it into writing. Consider your own responsibility when you expouse illusionary leftist ideology. No doubt you cheered the Oslo process, no doubt you cheered Baraks abandonement of the north when leaving Sth. Lebenon, no doubt you cheered when barak offered all including the kitchen sink, no doubt you cheered Sharon when he expelled 8000 Jews from theyre homes, no doubt you cheered when the 'root of all our problems' those 'horrid' settlers were smitten in Amona and no doubt you cheer Olmerts surrender plan. So now your son pays the ultimate price of appeasement as well as many other fathers. No doubt you thought this was the best way to protect your son, consider if you would have supported the opposite of all the above and prevented appeasement - perhaps your son would still be around today. I know its harsh words and words you wouldnt like to hear. But have you considered the blood thirsty enemies we are dealing with and by acting like a nice pussy cat instead of a lion you brought this all on yourself and the rest of us. Do a Cheshbon Nefesh and ask yourself the hard hitting questions. Perhaps a bit late now for all leftists in all theyre dellusions that have costed many many lives.
13. No tears for Papa Grossman, too busy.
sk ,   USA   (08.13.06)
Uri's death is deeply unfortunate, but it, or something like it, was an inevitable consequence of the philosophy and politics of the Israeli Left for twenty years. Leftists like D. Grossman have been undermining Israeli security nonstop. The misfortune was that Papa Grossman was not the killed in place of his son, for it is the father, along with the clowns A.B. Yehoshua and Amos Oz, who are at fault. I agree, though, that I would have preferred above all that Aharon Barak and his jester Mazuz took the place of all the casualties. My tears are for soldiers of Yesha who have been killed and whose families will be expelled if ilmert remains in office. If I have time, I'll cry for Papa Grossman.

17. Sorry for all
Ilana ,   Ashkelon   (08.13.06)
I am sorry for all ISraelis who lost their lives and I am sorry for the innocent lebanese civilians who lost their lives. All the loss makes me sick to my stomach. I really feel like I hate the evil Hizbollah!! What did they gain? Why their hatred? What is so terrible about allowing a small little Israel to exist? There is so much arab land around and this place is not holy to Islam. Many peoples, including the Jews were exiled out of all sorts of lands they once lived in, sad and not right, but true. It should just stop now. Let the world concentrate on getting along and prospering and raising peaceful kids, is a small piece of land worth it to all the arabs?? So America must go back to the Indians, Australia to the Aborigines, Jews back to all the arab lands they were exiled from...??The list is endless.
18. Uri Grosmann
Dan ,   Italy   (08.13.06)
Dreadful. I'm so sorry. It's really painful...
19. What about the Hezbollah "visitors" in Israel?
Marina ,   Romania   (08.13.06)
Hey, Mister Loubnani, what about the Hezbollah visitors in the Israeli territory? Those who entered the Israeli teritory, passing the Blue Line and abducting two Israeli soldiers? What do you say about it? Did they get an Israeli visa? What should be the Israeli response to this action? You wanted Israel our of your territory. OK. Done. Israel withdrew its troups. 6 years ago. Why don't you let them live in peace? Why do you accept your stupid fanatics in the Hezbollah as normal people in your poor country? Why poor? You're all, I speaking here about the Lebanese people, kidnapped by Hezbollah. You are all their prisoniers. What a pitty!
20. Sorry for all parents who lost their young sons & daughters

21. My sorrow and condolences...
Salomon S Mizrahi ,   Sao Carlos/Brasil   (08.13.06)
My sorrow and condolences to all the families that lost sons, brothers, husbands and fathers....A genuine and beautiful generation of the Israeli youth are paying the price for defending their country and the right to live peacefully....However, I diverge from the three authors regarding their view about the regional settlement. They are Ashkenazim and do not grasp the Arab rationale, arab’s logic is not Cartesian neither Aristotelian (otherwise why should Gazeans continue throwing kassams on on Israel, is retaliations killed 100 times more Arabs?). Arab-Palestinians, Syrians and Hezbollah are not fighting Israel, they are fighting the Jews, the which they see as occupiers of Arab-Muslim lands...they hate the Jews and they will never give up unless they are deterred by brutal, very brutal force...As by wiping out the map all the cities endangering Israel, without worrying about civilian populations. That's the way they historically fought their wars... Israelis, since they will never love you, then they should, at least, fear you...
22. Tanhumim....
meir ,   Gush Etzion   (08.13.06)
Every loss...tragic at the seam..between self defence and "improving positions" between fighting and cease fire... it should only come..and be for real. At the seam between hope and ye'ush... A chasm of darkness..
23. Israel is in a Comatose State
Marcel ,   Florida   (08.13.06)
Grossman and Oz are not the voice of Israel but of the failed establishment elites who brought Israel to this present state of affairs. As it stands this moment, Israel and Lebanon have accepted the UN Security Council Resolution 1701, which calls for a ceasefire in southern Lebanon. It could be that this will mean the end of fighting in Lebanon. If so, should there be no mistake - the battle will begin inside Israel. In 1973, where the government could "do no wrong", the tens of thousands of soldiers came home (many returned only after 11 months, and over 3,000 were buried) - and the real battle began. Golda and her party paid for the terrible handling of the war. A quick look at history will show us that many revolutions occur after wars. This is because soldiers return home and expect things to change after they have fought and endangered their lives for the country, especially after a failed war. This war (assuming it is ending now) has opened up a can of worms. Ex-Finance minister, Benyamin Netanyahu, told the country the parable of "the skinny man carrying the fat one on his back". In it, he meant the skinny private sector carrying the fat and lazy public sector. In this war, we can use this parable to mean the "skinny" Zionist Israelis, carrying the fat "post-Zionists" on our backs. Since Ari Shavit and Caroline Glick explain this with so much feeling and eloquence, I will let them do the talking on this subject (see below their articles). I will just say that our soldiers will return (again... assuming....) to their homes. They will first want to spend time with their families, many of whom will tell them how it was to be either a refugee, or suffer sitting in bomb shelters for over a month. They will tell stories of how they could have hit the Hizbollah, but the Army and the government tied their hands. They will tell stories of reserve units who did not have sufficient gear or ammunition. They will ask a hundred questions: Why did the army say that reserve units are no longer needed, only one year ago? Why did the army stop funding the Merkava tank, and say that tanks "are no longer needed in 'modern' warfare? Why did they get orders not to attack houses where terrorists were only because there may have been 'civilians' inside, while putting troops into greater danger? Why did the government hesitate to move forward earlier? Why did the government decide to move forward when they planned to accept the UN resolution? The big questions will come: Why was the army so badly prepared while they tried to tell us for years that "all was well". What effect did the running away from Lebanon 6 years ago, create this situation. What effect did the exile of Jews from Gaza have? What effect did OSLO have??? Most of these soldiers were the same ones who voted for Olmert and Peretz in the last election. The government will use all it's spinners to again lie their way out of this ... CAN WE SIT BY AND LET THEM????? GAMLA (and the umbrella organization of right wing groups that it leads) is already "arming" itself against these lies. Already posters are being printed, demanding that this government pays for its crimes, that a new government be set up that will immediately make the changes needed. Since OLSO, GAMLA has said that the united Islamic aim is to destroy Israel. Iran says this. Nasrallah says it. Arafat said it. It is time to get ISRAEL to believe this, and prepare and defend itself accordingly.
24. very sad
yonatan ,   nyc   (08.13.06)
my condolences to the family of uri grossman. may his memory be blessed and not forgotten.
25. My deepest condolences
Stacy ,   Los Angeles   (08.13.06)
to you and your family. I wish Israel had a choice of diplamacy rather than war. However, if we exchange prisoners every time they kidnap one of ours we would be putting every soldier's life at risk. I also wish we were dealing with sane, rational individuals. Unfortunately we are dealing with radicals who have one goal in mind and it is not to make peace with Israel but to destroy it.

Efi ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (08.14.06)
In Israel when a soldier falls and on memorial day we stand silent and keep silent. Stop taking issue with Grossman's views, this is not the time or the place. His son just fell in Lebanon. What the hell is wrong with you people. Just shut up.
