2. We have a govt. and General staff
jason white ,   afula,israel   (08.14.06)
NOT worthy of our I.D.F.! The I.D.F. is the only great thing about this country and they were let down by grubby politicians and second-rate generals.
3. ISRAELI LEADERS DESPICABLE BETRAYAL of KIDNAPPED IDF
Linda Rivera ,   New York   (08.14.06)
As brave IDF heroes fight and die for Israel, IDF soldiers are forced to suffer the anguish and demoralization of leaders who refuse to stand behind them. The lives of courageous IDF mean absolutely nothing to Israel's leaders who are cruel to Jews, but repeatedly show mercy to Israel's enemies. The resolution only refers to a return of the kidnapped soldiers in its preamble and not among the document's actual clauses. There is no mention of the kidnapped soldier in the south, Gilad Shalit." For the first time in the history of Israel, Israel's leaders surrender in war and treasonously support the UN Resolution which threatens Israel's survival.

chad ,   usa   (08.14.06)
you're not just going to "find" 2 soldiers in the lebanese mountains, and i'm glad the other side did not just hand them in . olmert should've swapped prisoners at the start . israel can't pull off this "we don't negotiate with terrorists" BS like the US can
8. where are the kidnapped soldiers?
leah   (08.14.06)
this should be the priority now!
9. Petition Should Have The Following 2 Options:
H ,   Jerusalem   (08.14.06)
1) Release of kidnapped soldiers 2) Immediate Prime Minister elections. If option 1 wins, the elections should take place right after the release of the soldiers.

KACH 613 ,   MDENAT YEHUDA!!!   (08.14.06)
They all know it the I.D.F. knows it Israel lost the war because it did not get our boys back and we must get Olmert out NOW if we ever want to win wich we CAN!!! The IDF fought tough and the solders are heros!

14. I SIGN IN, BUT BIGGER CLOUDS AHEAD
yann ,   paris , france   (08.14.06)
ABSOLUTLY TRUE. I SUPPORT THEM EVEN IF#5 IS OBVIOUS. AN EXT WAR TO COME. If Nasrallah run for election in lebanon he can get the whole contry. Today Iarn sent a foreign minister to ALgeria, the only sunite contry that supported hezballah. An Iranian Ring is building up. That Threat doesn't only concern Israel, maybe allwestern contry will be involved. Iran Nuclear goal will be the next issue. Let's get ready for a World War.
15. I'LL STAND IN SOLIDARITY WITH THE IDF PETITION
Nannette ,   London, UK   (08.14.06)
They're 100% correct. The government abandoned the brave men to whatever fate awaits them. Israel should stand in solidarity with these soldiers and shout in the streets that they want a no confidence vote against the government. Israel needs a strong government willing to protect it's land, it's citizens and NOT to abandon kidnapped IDF boys. Olmert is more interested in international opinion than he is in the soldiers! GET RID OF KADIMA - THEY'RE A DANGER TO ISRAEL AND TO THE WORLD. THEY'VE GIVEN LEGITIMACY TO TERRORISTS!!! God Bless our IDF - may God protect them and shine His Light upon them wherever they go.
16. WHERE'S OLMERTS SONS? FAR AWAY FROM ISRAEL!
Nannette ,   London, UK   (08.14.06)
Olmert's children are safe away from the war. He doesn't care about other parents' children, who have more courage in their little finger - than he or his children combined!
17. Great Israelis
Sidney ,   USA   (08.14.06)
My respect for these reservists is enormous. My contempt for the government that let them down is extreme.
18. to Mary #12
Leo ,   Canada   (08.14.06)
hm.. what defeat??? IDF 30 km in your territory, Beirut in ruins - what defeat you are tolking about? The one who really lose that war is Lebanon. Now you will depend on Hezbollah at all your moves. They will pay for your homes, but in return they will take your lives. Try to see a bit far than your nouse.
19. at the opposit
yoel   (08.14.06)
Any country in the world own soldiers without brain, who are just able to obbey orders without thinking. It seems our soldiers are quite different, they even have more "Sechel" than most of our heads of nation: Peres, Olmert? Maybe they have a plan but they still didn't publish it. I was also amazed to watch Ehud Barak on CNN as if he was an expert (yes, in failing in Lebanon and territories!). Just to say IDF soldiers appear to be wiser than most of the politicians heading Israel. Claiming victory? No! Our soldiers are still detained in Lebanon, and we even still don't know if they're alive. Then, hearing Nasrallah claiming victory; this sounds by itself as a defeat for us. He must have been reduced to silence definitely. For those reasons, it would have been better to fight till victory. As for the previous pullout from Lebanon, Hezb will make themselves as heroes, especially if Lebanon gets advantages from agreements between UN and Israel. On the other side, I'm happy hearing about cease-fire, knowing our soldiers safely return home, and end of Katiushot landing in North.
20. This is a very honored and beautiful act of solidarity!
keren ,   sao paulo   (08.14.06)
And an very important act of conscience.I hope they succed!
21. This makes me proud to be a Jew
Igor ,   Princeton, USA   (08.14.06)
even if the incompetence of the current leadership of Israel is frightening. Hizbollah's existence is in large part the result of the US non-response to the Beirut Marine bombing. Won't people ever learn?
22. Send us back??
Willy ,   Austin   (08.14.06)
Send you back so we have 25 die a day? For now, I think Isreal has done a wise step to stop and I think IDF is right to pull at once to reasses all the misses.
23. Kidnapped Soldiers
Chris Myers ,   USA   (08.14.06)
The IDF should not be settled with leaving a brother behind the lines. This should be settled only after the enemy knows the heavy price it will pay for an Illegal action. God bless Isreal
24. To #14, Right, this is only the beginning
Jefanna ,   Chesapeake, VA USA   (08.14.06)
I would not bet that the rest of the Western world is going to wake up in time. It is obvious that Iran and Syria are behind these attacks and the abductions of Israel's soldiers. I think that much of the West sees Israel and the US as the speed bumps between them and Islamic extremists, still they are not willing to put themselves on the line to stop it. They duck and hope that it will not happen to them and their country. TERRORISM IS NOT GOING AWAY. It is still there even when you put your head in the sand. It also blows you up or abducts you. No one wants their husband or son or daughter to be in harms way, but I also want to live without the fear of someone trying to blow US UP. You can tell me all this crap about doing it out of desperation. I do not believe it. The Israeli soliders were not abducted out of desperation. The latest plot to blow up planes over the Atlantic ocean is not an act of desperation, ...the list goes on. Their desperation comes from their culture of hate and death. Where to go from here? I think you can only fight it or it will come to you. I say this with a heavy heart because it is my husband who will one way or the other have to confront it as he is in the US military. Do we leave this for my son or daughter? I hope not.
25. ADMIRABLE!
You're right! ,   Israel   (08.14.06)
26. Wheres Sharon's sons?
Judah ,   Kiryat Shmona,Israel   (08.14.06)
Even though there father's condition deteriorates they leave his sick bed to fight for their country in Lebanon. Meanwhile Olmert's sons leave the country to avoid the draft. What does this tell you?
27. Olmert should step down
Zionist Crusader ,   Texas   (08.14.06)
I am not Israeli, but hopefully Israel will realize that only Likud can protect Israel. Israel was soft the whole way through this conflict. It should have invaded on the ground and targeted the clerics who instigate the violence. Hopefully Netanyahu will come to power and tell the arabs, if you hit Israel with WMD, Mecca and Medina will be destroyed!
28. NEW ELECTIONS NOW
Chaya ,   Bat Yam   (08.14.06)
Hopefully, thousands of signatures can be collected.
29. Hard to say who won this crazy war
Al ,   Salt Lake City   (08.15.06)
Facts: Hezbollah is stronger than when Israel began it's attack. Lebanon's infrastructure is ruined for atleast 10 years. Many Lebanese have died. Few Israelis have died. Israeli soldiers still MIA. Lebanese soldiers still in Israeli prisons. Bottom line... Israel should just have done a prisoner swap and consentrated on the larger issue... Iran. When Iran gets it's nukes, you can say goodbye to Israel and that whole region. Unfortunately Iran will get it's nukes eventually. It's time for the politicians to start to work on the Arab people to win their hearts. If not, we will only get more and more violence.
