BULL. IT'S THE OTHER WAY AROUND!
32. Syria? what a joke
Ehud ,   Hiroshima, JAPAN   (08.15.06)
Syria has been threatening Israel for more than 40 years and they've been talking about golan heigts for 40 years. I suggest they use a new CD. We are fed up of hearing the same talk and no action. Syria, you wanna mess with IDF? let's see.. We have been flying over the presidential Palace, we have destroyed 5 barrages inside Syria, what are you waiting for?
33. #4 True.. thats definitely not the case.
freedom ,   canada   (08.15.06)
Do some research and soul searching, why is there not anything good happenning in the Sudan to relieve the religious oppression and crimes there.. Why isnt the United Nations not doing anything in the Sudan.
34. #12 Assad is a mope
freedom ,   canada   (08.15.06)
He isnt even democratically elected and thus not following the will of the people.. Watch some independent news coming out of Syria. The people there cant stand the country they are living in. Then again who wants a dictatorship, the people in charge almost always steal the money from the people.. Look at Arafat and Hussein. There are more examples out there....
35. #14 , Where did you get those facts from...
freedom ,   canada   (08.15.06)
Are you a political inventor.. just inventing facts. Interesting invention about 1948, Arabs reject partition. Another interesting invention, 1967, Israel is attacked by mulitiple arab countries.. Do you want me to go on. or do you feel foolish now.. Have a nice day.
36. #21 . Perhaps an afternoon sojourn by the USAF
freedom ,   canada   (08.15.06)
would suffice.. Assad should be turfed, build a country not hatred and weapons. Syria is a pathetic country economically.. The only question is why??? Build for the good and the future, stay out of hizbullah and death...
37. Why Israel Lose and Lost
Poster ,   KSA   (08.15.06)
These are the following evidence that shows Israel loss the war: 1. War objective was to free the two Israel hostages; not achieved 2. Israeli lost 119 soldiers in 33 days for no goal 3. Israel keeps listening to Maniac (Bush and Condalisa Rice), no benefit 4. Israel threaten to track Hezbollah militant; relief pain 5. Israel accepts the resolution before and after it was reviewed and changed by Lebanese and approve it: to get red of this war 6. Israel lost 2.5 Billion; nothing achieved. 7. Israel had their people in shelters for 33 days: nothing was achieved. 8. Israel has a number of cities destroyed by Hezbollah Missiles; nothing was achieved 9. Israel lost at least 51 of their people; still the two soldiers on the hand of Hezbollah 10 Israel lost more than 100 tanks and a number of aircrafts: nothing was achieved. Still Hezbollah keeping the two soldiers after all of that lost in Israel.
38. IDF will liberate his BANANA from his HAND.
Scott   (08.15.06)
39. Give him his stupid Golan Hights
Arthur   (08.15.06)
The Israeli occupation of the Golan Hights is obsolete. Give them back to Syria in exchange for peace and you will probably get it. Cut the IDF budget in half and give tax breaks to the Israelis. Tell Assad that you will nuke Damascus if one of his tanks cross the line. The prevailing winds will blow the fall-out away from Israel further into Syria so what's the worry? If the Chinese or Russians invaded Alaska the US would nuke them, if the Germans invaded Kent the UK would use them, so why waste brave Israeli lives fighting wars that can no longer be won? Tell Nassrallah that he'll get a nuke if any more rockets come over the border. You've got a nuclear detterent so use the damn thing. Everyone else with nukes would use them to defend their borders - what's the problem with Israel using them to prevent genocide and ethnic cleansing of it's population? If you had nukes in WW2 you would have used them against the Nazis to stop the Holocaust. So use them to stop Holocaust2, because that's what this is going to turn into if you don't watch out.
40. TO #14
Aaron ,   Oz   (08.15.06)
The Palestinians have no desire for peace because they interpret the disunity, for which Israel is famous, as a weakness, not as Israel's strength. They refuse to understand that democracy is stronger than theocracy, and until they understand this, to work with them is simply to reinforce their preconcieved notions as to their long term success. Democracy cannot be forced upon people, they have to want it and value its institutions. Unfortunately, this was not a quick, or even a painless process for even the succesful western democratic nations, it took much pain, numerous conflicts and civil wars. Therefore the only answer is to either stop trying to force the arabs to accept democracy, to accept that they are destined to be led by hypocritical psychopath's, or, to accept that the road to democracy is littered with failure, with strife, with war, with the blood of innocents, and with poorly thought out, doomed to fail experiments. This is not to say that the process cannot be shortened, but it cannot be acheived without some pain, that i is what makes it so cherished, without the pain, it would quickly be regarded as worthless. Until the arabs come to understand that their leader's corruption is NOT something that goes with the job, but an abberrance to be decried in a democratic country, until they learn that their leaders can and should be challenged over their mistakes, and until they learn that the meanest, most destitute fellahin is just as important as the most powerful amongst them, there will be no meaningful advance in their countries. Basically, this means that until they learn that people are not chattels, belonging wholly to the more powerful amongst them (and who has not seen fellahin offering to volunteer their sons to become suicide bombers), to be used for the advancement of their 'betters', there is no real prospect of peace. Peace cannot be achieved by showing them kindness, peace can only be acheived when they learn to show it to each other.
41. to #14 (Part II)
Aaron ,   OZ   (08.15.06)
Unfortunately at present, the arab psyche is yet unready for peace. They fail to comprehend why a country that is being attacked would spare their civilians, who do not expect to be spared by the people 'defending' them. This would not present an ethical/moral dillema to the 'leaders' of the arab world, where might is right, and restraint is viewed similarly to cowardice. Unfortunately, the world does not expect anything more from the arabs, but they do expect Israel to live up to impossible standards. Israel must, as shown by this article, make a decision, are they willing to offend the international community, which really does not care, or are they willing to endanger the continued existence of the nation, by demonstrating this weakness? Hizbollah is simply the latest advocate of this tactic, it was used effectively in 1948, when the groups using this tactic were beaten soundly by the assault upon Dier Yassin. So the choice facing Israel, is whether it is better to revisit such horrid tactics, which caused (according to arab propaganda) some 1,000 casualties, or to not do so, which will lead to numerous wars, costing some 1,000,000+ casualties. When looked at dispassionately, the tactics to be adopted are a rather simple choice, whether tis nobler to cause the deaths of some 1,000 people in order to save the lives of 1,000,000, is a simple question, with a sincerely simple answer. It is better to choose the lesser of the two evils, in which case it should be done, and damn the international condemnation, which would not be long lasting, as peace would come from it. Unfortunately, as jews, we have a visceral reaction against such solutions, although I see no reason why this should be so, as stated by Barbara Bush, 'war is not nice', and sometimes it is better to accept that hard choices must be made, even if humanity must suffer from them. Take some relief from the fact that the choice is not even a free choice on our part, but that our enemies have forced it upon us. I personally would prefer to live with 1 thousand souls on my conscience than 1 million, especially as the saving of the other 999 thousand would balance the cost of the 1. Quite frankly, if the arabs will not show respect out of decency, they must be taught respect out of fear.

46. Assad is not insane, your responses are
Elizabeth ,   York   (08.15.06)
I'd like to put forward my thoughts on your responses here. All your threats and tough talk is nothing but bluff. I don't want to sound rude and ignorant in my responses like most of those on here. All you seem to talk about is flexing muscles and beating up anyone that confronts Israel. Absolutely pathetic, none other. President Assad bugs you so much because he's asking for a piece of occupied syrian land back??? is that a sin now to free a part of syria occupied by force since 1967. Look carefuly at what you say. Anyone who stands up strong is a joke, let histroy teach you a lesson. Is killing over 100 IDF soldiers the price of freeing 2 captured IDF soldiers. If that isn't true insanity i don't know what is.
47. article "we'll liberate Golan Heights"
Sheldon Rappaport ,   Tiberias Israel   (08.15.06)
I am not worried about the threat made by the Syrian leader as much as I pity the generations living under his regime and hoping his drivel will turn into some terrible reality. Doesn't anyone realise he is begging for the ultimate "armageddon?"
48. diplomacy
Jesus ,   SF, USA   (08.15.06)
once again...we here these terrorist supporters saying they won or that they can win... something everyone should remember...Israel restrained herself to the crys of those that were crying for peace and talks with the terrorists...give diplomacy a chance... So, here we are.. Israel standing tall...just waiting for that right provocation again...but this time... after everyone has seen the diplomacy didn't work... Israel will not restrain herself...and the world will not have a reason to cry again...seeing that diplomacy does not work with terrorists...and Israel will have the GREEN LIGHT to get rid of these cancer cells. Like we said...we're all just waiting for that "special" moment...

50. #12
Pat ,   USA   (08.15.06)
Why didn't the spineless coward you think so much of get involved in the latest conflict in a more direct way? Here is the answer, the COWARD ASSAD knew just what he would get. My suggestion for rag heads everywhere; if you sons of bitches think you can take on the US and Israel, bring it on! If we run out of toilet paper while kicking your butt, we'll use that head rag as a substitute...bet on it! Friggin' wastes..

Keep running that mouth ASSad and Israel and America will relieve you of your head problems.
54. Syria
MO ,   Ramallah   (08.15.06)
the weakness of the syrian army is not in the equipments .. it is stemmed from the fact that no sane syrian would fight for this MAN and his family to stay in power .. big difference than the lebaneese resistance .. Israel's nightmare is a democratic syria . that is why Israel is keeping him until they have enough people to fill the Golan .....then he will be dumped like saddam .
55. About that "brink of a new phase in [Syria's] history ...
Kevin ,   Chicago, USA   (08.15.06)
Please go over the brink. Now. Your sole accomplishment has been not making peace with Israel while demanding bribes for not fighting. You have given your people nothing but the glory of hating Israel, but instead of fighting Israel you helped Hezbullah draw Israel into Lebanon, wrecking the country and killing ten Lebanese for every Israeli. For what possible benefit to Syria? Get out now and spare the Syrian people any further consequences of your stupidity. You might save your own neck in the process.
56. Assad spotted in Tel Aviv getting chin implant surgery

Assad told doctors he was off to Egypt where he'd have a male organ attached next.
57. Assad's remarks and #14's depression
CSeven ,   TN   (08.15.06)
Assad is a punk. I've seen and dealt with many punks in my life and I recognise them well. He will keep inching up to Israel with bullying remarks increasing in volume, and pushing a little more and then a little more, until Israel slaps him down. Assad thinks that Israel will be intimidated as Iran stands behind him waiting to pull the trigger on Israel. There is but one way to stop these bullies. Asaad, Ahmadinejad, Hizbullah, Hamas. Crush them. Totally crush them. Don't be concerned about the women and children that THEY SACRIFICE. You Isreal, cannot stop these fools from sacrificing their women and children, or themselves, for that matter... you can only stop taking the blame for it! Wipe out the current problem, for sure... and that problem is the terrorist Hizbullah and Hamas who want to destroy the western world starting with you! But to do so, you must first wipe out the source of the problem..... Iran and Syria... and in that order, clean them up. Israel! Israel! Have you lost faith in your GOD? HE is not deaf and HE is not dead! Call upon HIS Holy Name for strength and help to defeat your and HIS enemy. No other god can defeat your mighty GOD... Although I am a Christian, He is my GOD as well. This is but a pause in the battle, and it is a battle of good against evil. Evil will not easily submit, but Good will never be defeated. It is not the end of the war. Keep the faith, Israel! Trust in your GOD for your strength. My prayer is for the sure victory of the GOD of Israel. I pray for peace in all Arab, Persian and Jewish states, and the sure defeat of Evil. I pray for the peace of America. Our GOD demands that we be slow to wrath. You have been, and America has been. But our GOD also demands that when faced with Evil, that we fight that Evil with HIS strength. "Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.". I pray that GOD will use these terrible acts of mankind to bring Glory to HIMSELF and great destruction to the perpetrators of Evil.
58. Syria
wayne hutchinson ,   toronto, canada   (08.15.06)
Actually Assad or is it sadass? It will be the latter anyway; but it will be Israel that will liberate your people from under your oppression and the sharing of your bed with Iran by disposing of your and then Israel and the U.S. will finish off Iran. How does that sound? Wayne, Toronto
59. To #14 Muslim Victim Game
Donbury ,   Montreal, Canada   (08.15.06)
The object of the "victim game" is to arrange events so that you (or preferably your children or your friends) are damaged so that you can receive sympathy and support. Example: Jump it front of a wealthy person's car so that you can be run over and sent to the hospital so that you can receive hundreds of thousand of dollars in insurance money. It is done all the time. That's NYC. In poorer countries we see people deliberately crippling their children because victims make more money as beggars. Example: The entire Muslim press is full of lamentations about how Israel or the US or the Europeans (whoever) have victimized them. Both the ignorant street people and educated Muslim scholars pursue the same line of "reasoning." The policy of the Arab nations (with the possible exception of Jordan) has always been to keep the Palestinians in abject poverty lest they loose their "victim" status in the propaganda war. I was watching a Kevin Sykes video in Lebanon and was astonished to see three T-54 Lebanese army tanks parked against the wall of a Tyre hospital, obviously attempting to create a hospital bombing incident in which more Lebanese could take on the role of victim. Setting up such "accidents" is what professional victims do for a living rather than something more constructive. The 700,000 Jews expelled from Arab countries during and after the '48 war have long been integrated into Israeli society. The 700, 000 Palestinian refugies of that war are still playing the victim game. Maybe that's what Golda Meir meant when she said, "We can forgive you killing our children, but we can't forgive you for making us kill your children." Helping a "professional victim" like Nasralla or Bashar Assad or that nut case in Iran isn't easy because their purpose in life is not to master life, but to arrange to be someone's victim. All one has to do is shoot rockets at Israel and wallow in the publicity of being Israel's victim on a major scale. Of course Nasralla "won" his war in his eyes. He is now one of the super-victims of the world, a star with terrible wounds to show us. To #14. You don't have a clue what to do. Don't despair. The "professional victim" carries a major strategic disadvantage which he cannot escape. He has to go through life wounded, and he must constantly regenerate his wounds. This leaves him in a permanently weakened state. His survival depends upon eliciting the sympathy (and wealth) of more able people who are naturally (if naively) compassionate. In the long run it is a failing strategy. Ask anyone who has had personal experience with a "professional victim" in their family. Sympathy fades into frustration , then fades into avoidance, then fades into hostility. The strategy of the Muslim professional victims isn't going over as well as it might appear. In my personal circles the desire of Muslims to be seen as victims, is now convincing only the hopelessly naive. More and more people are starting to notice the differences between a real victim and a "professional victim" like Nasralla. Sometimes it doesn't take long. In 1935 there was a lot of sympathy for the German-as-victim here in North America. By 1945 when millions of German men had been killed, and there were hundreds of thousands of German civilian casualties from bombing, nobody was thinking of the Germans as victims. In the end, trying to render yourself powerful by taking on the role of professional victim just gets you killed. Keep on being a great nation, trying to be productive, willing to defend yourself, trying to be as moral as possible with people who are ingenious at setting themselves up to be your victim. Stay the course. The Nasrallahs and the Hitlers of the world are a pain in the ass, sometimes a major pain in the ass, but they are all strategic morons and create no empires.
60. In Tel Aviv always Strarts Out With "What Are You Smoking"
Mr. Civil ,   Not USA, Not Israel   (08.15.06)
Tel Aviv asked Nassrallah the above question a month ago, and the man seems to have been smoking very good stuff. The stuff he was smoking was so good, he smoked you out of Kfar Gilaad. Remember the Kfar Gilaad Cigar guys? Well, Nassrallah now gave the same kinda smokes to Bashar. So if some in Tel Aviv are very eager to find out what kinda smokes the Syrians are smoking, take a ride down Kunetra and find out. Maybe the above ride will have you quit smoking all together, like yesterday @ 8.00 AM, for example, ey?
