bill ,   washington d.c.   (08.15.06)
seriously, habibi, don't you think it is time to resign?
2. agree wiuth #1
Ivri   (08.15.06)
Let IAF aces run the IAF, & the chief of staff should be from the ground forces.
3. Seems all those involved in Gush Katif expulsion are corrupt
Norman   (08.15.06)
From Sharon Olmert Halutz . Halutz got his job because Yaalon spoke the truth and predicted Kasams faling to Ashkelon if Expulsion would pass. So Sharon contacted Halutz to enforce expulsion. Now we have Hamas in power, Kasams in the south and a defeat to Hizballah in the north with 150 dead and countless injured and billions to repair the north. Halutz and olmert have to go.
4. I know Israel's are used to stuff like this but.....
Bill Pearlman ,   Chicago, USA   (08.15.06)
two things really stand out here. One, he didn't know that war was going to break out which would make him the most inept chief of staff in military history. Or he used inside information to profit on market moves. This is exactly the kind of thing that Martha Stewart went to jail for. Lastly, to say that he is like any other citizen is a stretch of logic that is really astounding. He is not like any other citizen. He has the possiblity of gaining information through the military apparatus that nobody else has. For him to use that information to profit, and make no mistake selling out before a fall is profiting and the amount of money is not the point. Evidently he didn't feel the need in the first day of the war to concentrate on war strategies or the men, but his own personal situation. This is corruption of the highest order. Last but not least. To sell out is not exactly a vote of confidence in the armys ability to win. This man should be fired in dishonor and should slink away.
5. Give him a break!
Eileen ,   Ra'anana   (08.15.06)
This is ridiculous! Aren't there special accounts that are closed for a specified period. On the day that period ends, the account is "opened" and the bearer must decide what to do with the money - either close it again or let it sit, earning nothing. Maybe July 12th was THE DAY his account opened, and he knew that the next few days, weeks were going to take up all his time and he rushed to call and close the account again. I read that he sold NIS 120,000. How much money did he "earn" NIS 2000? NIS 5000? NIS 10,000??? Anything more than that, I'd like to know which fund he is investing in...so I can join! Did anyone consider how much time Halutz spent (no pun intended) doing this procedure? Couldn't we allow him half an hour to handle some personal business...even though the soldiers were kidnapped? Also why presume that he KNEW that the aftermath of this kidnapping would result in over 30 days of missile strikes and fighting in what is now known as the "second Lebanon war"? Let's give him the benefit of the doubt and not have the Knesset waste any time on this issue. They really should be dealing with far more important details, like rehabilitating the north of the country .
6. Mr. Halutz Did Nothing Wrong
Reuven Brauner ,   Raanana, Israel   (08.15.06)
I would have done the same.
7. a barak, not a rabin...
(08.15.06)
8. Peres Olmert Peretz Need to resign
Sam Weinstein ,   USA   (08.15.06)
Peres Olmert Peretz Need to resign. They failed to destroy Hezboullah by invading Lebanon over a month ago instead of later. That was a political decision instead of a military one. They appeasement policies have damaged Israel's deterrance.
9. How much money involved?
Anthony David Marks ,   Tel Aviv   (08.15.06)
It is hard to get a handle on this news report without knowing the amount of capital involved and the percentage of Halutz's capital it actually represented, To comment on this without such information is grossly unfair. Many investors sell stock at the beginning of a war and have no inside knowledge. It is simply prudent to do this,
10. Halutz saved his portfolio and sent soldiers to die
Proud Grandpa ,   www.KingArik.net   (08.15.06)
Simple. Efficient. Halutz, and Olmert and Peretz MUST resign for the damage they brought upon Israel. Halutz is probably the first to go.
11. No brains necessary in IDF?
Gordon Shifman ,   Shoham, Israel   (08.15.06)
Does anyone seriously want the IDF to be led by someone who doesn;t have the brains to know when to liquefy his investments?
12. with or without scandal, the man is incompetent, Resign man!
(08.15.06)
13. he is a good boy !!!
bernard ,   paris, france   (08.15.06)
Ok he did it but: [1] where are proofs what he won some money doing that ? [2] I known him very well, he did that to give the money to help people who fled from north israel So, he is a smart boy indeed
14. people wake up & take a look around, they were fooling u
The Phoenix ,   Lebanon   (08.15.06)
15. Smokescreen: Dont lose focus on whose to blame
T M ,   L J USA   (08.15.06)
As the left in Israel , including its recent converts , takes stock of its complete failure in running the country, it looks for a bone to throw at the ravenous dog chasing it. Now your going to make a lot of noise on a soldier taking his lunch break. We wont forget the outrageous: 1) IDF underfunded. 2) Iranian weapons underestimated, 3) Politicians zig zagging getting in the way of IDF job. 4) Caving in to UN and US 5 ) and now FAILURE TO HOLD HIZBOLLAH AND UN ACOUNTABLE FOR DISARMING
16. Halutz Is A Slime Ball
Morris Feldman ,   NY   (08.15.06)
What a slime ball is Halutz. He was worried about his wallet just before taking part in a decision that would send dozens of brave IDF soldiers to their deaths and hundreds more to hospital with wounds. Throw that piece of trash out and prosecute him to the full extent of the law.
17. #5 Are the attorneys spinning yet?
ilana   (08.15.06)
18. halutz
sam ,   israel   (08.15.06)
CHECK OUT HIS broker. WHERE IS A BIT OF PRIVACY???????????
19. He can do what he wants private
(08.15.06)
Also he has a life. This is a private thing. Please vent your frustration elsewhere. Disgusting to dig in the garbage bin to search for anything that might stain him. This is private!
20. #19 - Trying to "stain him"?
ilana   (08.15.06)
He has no more clean areas on his entire body left to stain. It is covered in IDF blood! He showed his priorities 2 hours after our men were taken hostage.
