I was one who felt that Israel should not have accepted the U.N. ceasefire resolution, but I have changed my mind. The aftermath of the war, whether Hezbullah gives up every rifle or not, does not directly pose an existential threat to Israel. Further, Israel needed this breather to calibrate both politically and militarily where the country is going with respect to its neighbors. It appears the war was entered in haste without a real end game (obviously the Hezbullah attack triggered it). Now Israel needs to get ready for the next battle, whether with Syria or Iran and has to rectify some basic problems, such as the poor condition of the reserve units, the vulnerability of its armored vehicles and the absence of an anti-missile deterrent. It is still the best military in the Middle East despite the mishaps in Lebanon.

OK, here is the plan. It is simple and it should work. IDF should use lots of explosives and big bombs to create a huge hole running South – North, about 100km from Israel’s border into Lebanon, so the only way to get closer to the border with Israel would be building a bridges. Few mines left behind in the hole wouldn’t be a bad idea too. Than if any of hezbos or other empty head person or group of empty headed people comes closer than 100km, you cut of the bridges and teach them a good lesson.
