31. Condemn a an entire nation of people...
Irritated ,   Israel   (08.17.06)
for the sins of their fathers. Be careful that this kind of thinking doesnt turn around and bite you in your asses.
32. Message to #31
Jonathan S ,   Frankfurt, Germany   (08.17.06)
You are missing the point. Forgotten how the whole of Israel was sitting with gas masks during Gulf War I? Yes, the gas and the missile technology came from Germany, from the sons … During WWII the Germans committed unbelievable massacres in Yugoslavia. Forgotten how the sons bombarded former Yugoslavia killing many innocent civilians, destroying infrastructure? Forgotten that Germany sold nuclear technology to Iran and is today the closest partner of Ahmadinejad in the West, trade rose by 50% since Iran threatens to annihilate Israel? One question is never asked: Who raised these sons?

34. Happy Marriage to Haaretz With NAZIS
Tayfun_Turkey ,   Istanbul   (08.18.06)
It proved Money is the first priority.
35. to Hildagard & Jonathan
Hannah ,   Berlin   (08.18.06)
@Hildagard. Ok, you are obviously not German as you spelled your name and the name of the Nazi newspaper wrong. @Jonathan. Give me a break. Of course it's not all Nazis in Germany again. I mean, please, we do have to acknowledge that the people in charge now weren't even alive back then. If you really think like that about Germany, then why don't you just make Aliyah? How I hate to hear Jews here crying about how bad it is when they could be making Aliyah in no time.
36. Choosing a father
Igor ,   Germany   (08.18.06)
No-one can choose his father (although there is a saying "like father, like son"). But one can choose what to do with him and his legacy. Alfred Neven DuMont (the son) chose to continue his fathers job and lead his fathers company. The company is, legally, the same one as in the Nazi times. Did it ever distance itself from its past? No, it has only tried to hide it! How many people, including Jews, would have survived if the father had not justified the Nazi ideology in his newspapers?
37. Only obeying orders
Gordon Shifman ,   Sohman, Israel   (08.18.06)
"Haaretz publisher Amos Schocken responded to the reports, saying that he is aware that Kurt Neven DuMont was a member of the Nazi party. He noted that although the newspaper chain received orders from the Nazis, it had no choice but to comply with the dictates of a dictatorial regime" - Ah, I see! they were only obeying orders!
38. Haaretz already supports Jihadis. Welcome Nazis.
Bennie ,   Jerusalem   (08.18.06)
Haaretz has been supporting Islamic Jihadis for years. They had just as well add some Nazis to their sick Haaretz family. What's the differenced?
39. Schocken: Nazi $$$ are green. I'll take them.
Avi ,   Afula   (08.18.06)
DuMont's family kept the wealth accumulated during the Nazi years. They should donate the $$$ to Holocaust survivors rather than filling Schocken's pockets.
40. Dumont family Nazis just as guilty as Zyklon makers
Moshe ,   Jerusalem   (08.18.06)
DuMont family made money in Nazi Germany just as did the makers of Zyklon and crematoria. They could have closed their business rather than making profit by working with Nazis. They stayed in business and made money while Jews were being massacred. Many of my family were slaughtered in the concentration camps. Schocken's greed in taking money from DuMont family is absolutely appalling. He should move his family and Haaretz to Berlin.
41. Shame on you, Mr. Beck!

42. Confession of a naive Diaspora Jew
Flavio ,   Sao Paulo, Brazil   (08.18.06)
A few years ago I came across Haaretz site while surfing the web; it seemed interesting and with plenty of info, so I signed for daily updates to bem delivered to my mailbox. Unfortunately I was not aware of the peculiar leanings and approaches ot that newspaper. Poor me, living in the Diaspora I had the naiveté of assuming that an Israeli newspaper would be anything but anti-Israel...well, it took me some time fo find out, but at last I realized I was wrong. It was then that I friend told me about Ynet and I became a constant surfer/reader/talkbacker. Now I read about this deal with a company with Nazi past. Well, I am the kind of person who would not buy a "Made in Germany" product, not even a Brazilian-made VW... For me, frankly, no more Haaretz.
43. To #35 Hannah
Jonathan S ,   Frankfurt, Germany   (08.18.06)
Why do the Germans hate Israel so much? This is because the younger generation never really stood up against their parents or grand-parents. Their big uneasiness is projected against Israel instead, because if they can compare Israel with Nazi-Germany, they do feel much more comfortable. This could have never seen better than during the Entebbe abduction, where young German terrorists were much more anti-Semitic than their Arab colleagues and made the selection of passengers with deep hatred. For the rest, ‘say yes or emigrate’ this is Nazi-phraseology.
44. to Jonathan
Hannah ,   Berlin   (08.18.06)
I don't know why "the Germans" hate Israel so much. Who are "the Germans" anyways? That's a pretty low generalization, by the way, because it is simply wrong. I am not saying there aren' t any Nazis in Germany today. Of course there are, and every single one is one too many. But they are not running the country. Unfortunately a lot of big old German companies have a Nazi history. But I acknowledge it if they actively tried to change and do good. I know enough Germans from the left and right that are indeed very critical of israel, sometimes even antisemitic, but what does this have to do with the specific case of DuMont and Haaretz? And I have to repreat it again. If you really believe that today's Germany is ruled by the old Nazi-dynasty then why stay? I couldn't if I felt like that. I'd be on the next El Al-plane already.
45. if you jews were smart, you'd toss the muslims in the ovens
jeff ,   seattle   (08.19.06)
Look, the idiots that follow that pig mohommed, all want to kill you and throw you out of the Promised Land. I say, take their land and use their oil and turn them into soap. problem is, you wouldn't hind a market for pig grease. oh well.....you can use them to grease the treads of your tanks. NEVER GIVE UP
46. To #44 Hannah
Jonathan S ,   Frankfurt, Germany   (08.19.06)
You speak about feelings, I about facts. The deep German-Iranian collaboration is a fact, even the nuclear one. Apart from the moral side, the Haaretz affair is problematic because honest reporting is at stake when a German group that publishes an Israeli-bashing paper in Germany is gaining influence on opinion building in Israel. It was reported, that former Chancellor Kohl said to an Iranian delegation that Ahmadinejad says what many Germans are thinking but don't dare to speak out openly. May the Israeli reader get this info? There are many German gentiles knowing these facts, must they emmigrate too?
47. Haareetz and the new partners
Rene Arena K. ,   Dominican Rep.   (11.01.14)
Anti/Israel does not necessarily mean Anti/Jewish. Many dissenting Jews in Israel are against their government's policy and colonial aims as well, not to mention all the Jews around the world that are of the same mind.
48. Comments are scrumptious!

I'm loving some of the utterly Kahanists comments over here!

Bring them more!

After all, dog-whistling Kahanism via this unsourced, sensationalist Kahanist op-ed is how YNet® keeps its readership high & mighty.
