2. Land of the Blind led by Deft
Sandman ,   Ann Arbor   (08.16.06)
Ahh yes the Land of blind, led by leaders deft to voices of its people while bean counters equip your military with last war inadaqite discount surplus supplies, Now you have the military appointed for idelogical purity to a government Elite as opposed to advancement do to military ablitity as shown by sale of stock by the top general, the inability to give troops water and food on front lines, or that old line it can be done with airpower alone. Obsolete equipment or tactic's generated by a VULGAR defense minister who then appoints a finger pointer to take blame away from the Politicans, the Prime minister and himself the Defense minister who caused this in frist place. Just sit back in that LA La Land and think how tired Olmert says you are of war while he strengtens your enemies with his ineptitude and feeds you platitudes for next war.
3. OLMERT RESTRAINED IDF. PREVENTED IDF FROM WINNING the WAR
Linda Rivera ,   New York   (08.16.06)
Israel loses Lebanon war WND Jerusalem bureau chief says Olmert restrained IDF 'at every turn' August 14, 2006 By Aaron Klein WorldNetDaily.com ... Israel lost the war in Lebanon on all fronts. This is so largely because Olmert refused to allow the Israeli Defense Forces to do its job. ... the IDF presented Olmert with several battle plans it says could have devastated Hezbollah within an estimated three weeks. The plans, drawn up and improved upon over the course of several years, called for an immediate air campaign against Hezbollah strongholds in south Beirut; aerial bombardment of key sections of the Lebanese-Syria border to ensure the kidnapped soldiers were not transported out of the country and to halt Syrian re-supply of arms to Hezbollah; and the deployment of up to 40,000 ground troops to advance immediately to the Latani River... To the dismay of military officials here, Olmert did not approve the plan... ...the main smuggling routes between Syria and Lebanon, sites very well known to Israeli intelligence, were essentially off limits to the Israeli Air Force... When Hezbollah met Israel's air campaign with massive rocket attacks against northern Israeli communities, the IDF again presented Olmert with a plan for a large ground deployment to the Latani River. The Israeli Prime Minister...approved only a smaller ground offensive of up to 8,000 soldiers who were not allowed to advance to the Latani. ...Olmert limited the IAF to strategic bombings only. The air force was not allowed to clear the way for ground troops to enter... And so the IDF – with a force one fourth the size it asked for – engaged in heated, often face-to-face combat over the course of weeks with a well-trained, well-armed Hezbollah militia that had planned with Iran for up to six years for this battle... ...during Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice's visits here, the IDF was actually asked by the political echelon to halt most operations and troop advances for up to 36 hours while negotiations ran their course... Military leaders now charge that some troop battalions, instructed to hold positions outside villages but not to advance, actually became sitting ducks for Hezbollah anti-tank fire, which killed at least 35 Israeli soldiers... Tens of thousands of troops were put on standby in northern Israel, but were not allowed to enter Lebanon... ...The cabinet, though, left the timing of the new operation to Olmert, who held the advance back until Thursday morning. By Thursday evening, the IDF, which charged ahead from four main fronts, reached the Latani River and even beyond in full force and prepared for an intense battle to overtake the areas used by Hezbollah to fire rockets. The IDF estimated it would need another four to six weeks to successfully wipe out the Hezbollah infrastructure in the areas... But a day later a cease-fire resolution was adapted... Hezbollah remains intact, Israel's enemies emboldened ... Hezbollah has won the war. It put up an incredible fight against IDF forces paralyzed by Israel's leadership. The terror group maintains a good deal of its infrastructure in south Lebanon and still has the ability to fire hundreds of rockets per day into Israel... For Israel, an international force on its borders will impede the ability of the IDF to operate with freedom during any future conflict with Hezbollah... The cease-fire doesn't place an immediate arms embargo on Hezbollah, but only calls for future talks on stopping weapons transfers to the terror group. This leaves Syria and Iran free to rearm and regroup Hezbollah... http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=51519

Proud Grandpa ,   www.KingArik.net   (08.16.06)
disastrous and futile war. Not one military objective was achieved. We are left with 155 casualties. Death, bereavement , destruction. Cursed war. War which triggers the next.
9. Frustration!!!!
yehuda ,   holit, Israel   (08.16.06)
This is the first time in my 23 years in Israel that the public, with great conviction, wanted to prosecute a war to it's end but the government lacked the resolve to carry out the peoples wishes. Especialy in the face of a threat unmatched since the Yom Kippur war. One month of death and suffering brought to naught and another bloodier war a certainty. Every Isaeli knows the stakes. We have to fight on!
10. OLMERT STEP DOWN!!!

14. I agree with all of you but
Alex ,   LA, USA   (08.17.06)
The only way to get rid of Olmert is: First, remove Halutz Second, Hulutz will tell that Olmert also sold stocks. People talk when their future is on the line. Third, collect all money, investments Olmert made in the last 35 days (it is easy). Remember, big Al did not go to jail because he killed 100s of people, taxes did to the guy.
15. Hasn't Israel Had Enough?
malcolm ,   NYC   (08.17.06)
It' s hard to phathom the silence of the population at this point in time. In any other country there would be rioting in the streets.
16. FREAKING LIAR!!
Dave ,   NYC   (08.17.06)
"At no stage before that has the prime minister directed the military echelon to hold its fire" Olmert is either schizophrenic or the biggest liar to ever climb to the top of the Knesset pyramid. Everyone in the entire world read the maddening headlines of sending troops in while holding them on a leash. Proclaiming a huge ground "invasion" while talking cease fire. The only silver lining is there may be legal grounds for his ouster based on the above testimony . Hopefully it is illegal for a prime minister to intetionally endanger the lives of soldiers in order to achieve a political outcome. Somewhere in the future, Israel needs a wartime stopgap that will prohibit another Israeli government from using the military like it was their own personal pit bull.
17. whatever you say
Anas ,   Palestine   (08.17.06)
at the end of the day , for 32 days the IDF used all the means available to them and were unable to beat few haundred hizzbollah men , it is a joke to say they were restrained by the govermnet of israel , over 4 thousand airstrikes and tens of thousands of artillary shells yet they managed to kill over a thousand civilinans mainly women and children , guys wake up ? it is over and hizzbollah is still there and in few months will be stronger than before , may be they will get some anti aircrafct missiles and next battle will be diffirent .

24. You see - #17, #22, #23 is our reward (for now):
Scott ,   Haifa   (08.17.06)
The taunting and mocking of our enemies. Yes, we lost this war because I think God allowed it that we (Israel) only got the leaders that we deserve - the same way that America was given Clinton. Our army could mop up these riff-raff if allowed to. We as a people need to return to God, and He promises to be our shield. There is no answer with our leaders. OUR answer is to return to God as a people, and He will show our enemies and the nations who HE is. And God will move on our behalf as He did earlier in 1948 and after. We need humility and not arrogance, brute strength will not win this battle. Some trust in chariots and horses, but we will trust in the Name of the Lord our God.
25. To the Libyan guy
SLAVO   (08.17.06)
The probem with your brilliant idea of talking about peace with your brothers is scary. They cant even adhere to the principles of a cease fire that they agreed to. How are they gonna adhere to a peace treaty? Arab arrogance, primitive ideas and terrorism is to blame for all of this.
26. Arab cowardice in battle
GrossedOut   (08.17.06)
The problem with all of the hesitation that went into this battle on the part of Olmert is that the Arabs now think, stupidly, that they cant be beaten down...again. They were actually beaten down this time, but only to a limited extent. These creatures now believe that Israel's days are numbered. What they dont realize is that we could have pulverized them if not for the civilians (women and little children), basically their own family members, that they hide behind. The Arabs are cowards when it comes to fighting a fair fight. At the first sign of danger, they flee.
27. Scriptures #24
Michael ,   Athens ,Greece   (08.17.06)
Everyone translates the holy scriptures from his own point of view. Until everyone understands that God talks about love, compassion, toleration, forgiveness suffering will continue even in the name of God. There is no "chosen nation", there is no "promised land",the nation is the complete manhood, the land is ehavens kingdom where there is no place for those who hate and kill.
28. #8, This war was triggered by Gaza withdrawals...
AK   (08.17.06)
...and made possible by Barak's 2000 Lebanon's withdrawal. War is a cruel event, usually made worse by well meaning peaceniks who end up supporting the aims of the enemy –just like you.
29.  #27 - point taken
Scott ,   Haifa   (08.18.06)
Does that mean then that you side with terrorism? What if the island next to you started lobbing missiles with 50,000 ball bearings into your land? How would you react? How would your government react? Maybe everyone would tell you you're not supposed to be there. I understand about love and brotherhood, and I want this. But how do you communicate this truth to someone who receives orders from God to kill Jews, Christians, and Infidels. Before you claim to be an expert on the scriptures, read them and study them. Start with: Joel chapter 3 and see that God has a controversy over Israel. Also Romans 11. Last chapters of Zechariah shows that God has a problem with the nations over Jerusalem, and will fight the nations because of it. Jeremiah 30:7-11 also. The scripture I quoted about some trusting in horses and chariots was the same scripture that David wrote and sang to the Lord about his enemies. It is no different today. If you dissagree, then it shows you do not know or understand the scriptures. There is a lot of talk of love and warm fuzzies these days, but if you really love God, then you will love and understand the things important to Him. If you truly believe in God, the God of Israel, then you will believe in His people too - Romans 11:11, 12, 15, 18, 25-29 I'm not into hating and killing. And I'm sure the soldiers who risk their lives are mostly looking to get the job done to get on with their lives. I'm only looking to our God to deliver us from our enemies in the way He chooses. He may use Israel, but we need to be humble and see our deliverance ultimately comes from Him and not us. The Lord is the mighty warrior. He empowers His people.
30. #29
Michael ,   Athens,Greece   (08.18.06)
There is NO MORE "chosen nation" ,there is NO MORE "promised land" my friend. matthew 3,7 10.:But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees coming for baptism, he said to them, "You BROOD OF VIPERS, who warned you to flee from the wrath to come? Therefore bring forth fruit in keeping with repentance; and do not suppose that you can say to yourselves, 'We have Abraham for our father'; for I say to you, that God is able from these stones to raise up children to Abraham. And the axe is already laid at the root of the trees; every tree therefore that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire" the only criteria is those in Matthew chapter 25. Only a mercyful heart has a place with God.
