There is a difference between a smack and a thumping. Yes Israel did get smacked but Hezbullah and Lebanon got a thumping. The reason Israel got smacked and why they feel it is because of the dithering delays that held the IDF back due not to Hezbullah but its own government. You will see what I mean the next time assuming that this government is not around. Notice it was not Israel who was screaming for a ceasefire so being as smart-assed as you, why not? During 1943 (september 8th) the Italians regular troops surrendered to the US/England allied forces due to the Mussolini escape, the Italian rebellion the partisans and the Badoglio confused orders to the troops. It was a civil war, dramatic and with the loss of a lot of life. The Germans decided to attack the Italians troops and civilians also if the Italian Army was in a cease fire state (without ammounitions, fuel, food...). Around two years of troubles from '43 to the end of '44 were a terrible amount to pay for the Italians in the hands of the Germans. They didn't choose to change allied, they put their hands on being killed and tortured by the nazis. The proof is the way the Italians have tried to protect the jews from the italian fascists and the nazis and how much the large part of the civilians was against the dictature and their stupid decisions. The fact is that most that are killed in modern warfare don't know "what hit them." How many of the Israeli war dead knew what hit them? Finally no matter what this site saids. No matter what your pundits spin. No matter what your military commanders prattle on about, Hezbullah fought the 4th largest military in the world to a standstill. It was impressive! And because of what you did to the civilian population of Lebanon the next time this war starts up Hezbullah will be 50X as big and have far more sophisticated weapons. Israelis should think about this the next time they let their inexperienced politicians and financial stock owning / military generals rush off to battle.
