31. no more excuses for poor leadership???
alan ,   frisco   (08.18.06)
what you could have listed at least 5-6 more excuses for the dismal failure of the leadership which was by the way at least in Olmert's case in power for five years--- long enough to know up from down. If Olmert was a football player, the coach would have pulled him out in the first play. He fumbled andran when he should have passed. We cannot afford to face Iran's nuke's protecting the Hezis in the future. 200 new French engineers coming to Lebanon is not going to impress Nasrallh to stop smuggling arms to the Hezis. Olmert needs to be impeached for agreeing to this kakamany UN plan.
32. "Delusional victory"
philip ,   USA   (08.18.06)
Good term to use Yaron--Hezbullah claim to victory is delusional, and they will find this out as time moves on. The Chechens found that out when the Russians came back for round two. But, it will require new Israeli leadership, both politically and militarily.

A lot of what you say is based on truth that you twist in your favour. Immediately Israel declared herself a state you, the Arabs, attacked her and lost. You lost that war and you lost land. Since then you have tried to regain it and have lost again and again and more still you lost more land. That is the truth and to date you squeal as though you did nothing. It is also a fact that much that was taken was given back to you but like little children that is not enough, you want the lot, even Israel itself. I repeat, that is the truth and because it is, you twist and turn like eels to make the world believe different. What your site didn't say was of the numbers of Arabs who came into the land at the invite of the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem just to swell Arab numbers so that the Jewish population would look weak. Perhaps you yourself are not even entitled to be called Lebanese since that country was once a dominant Christian area. Are you Maronite or Druze? I doubt it since you appear to have gone to the Nasrallah school of Arab history. If you can't be honest with others at least be honest with yourself. Israel could be a great neighbour if only you would give them more opportunity and less rockets and bombs. The ball on that is in your court my Lebanese friend.

Peace, real peace only comes when your enemies are totally vanquished. That is it's price. You only get what you are prepared to fight for as peace does not come by giving in or appeasement. Oh, it may come if you are yourself vanquished but then it is not your peace, it is someone else's and might mean no peace at all. That is the position that Lebanon finds itself in today and you are so scared of those who have taken you over that you blame another country for all your ills. Your enemy is not Judaism or even Christianity but rather Islam for it is that evil that has brought all your devastation and defeats and it doesn't give a damn for any of you Lebanese whatever your religion. You want peace so now is your opportunity, get onto the streets and demand the removal of Hezbullah and all its supporters back to where they came from. Succeed and you will see peace. Fail and all you may see is utter devastation and perhaps death the next time. It could be a golden moment.
35. was right and Haaretz
Termite   (08.19.06)
was wrong. People need protection and that means guns for everyone (not the children) and shelter. Garrison states have never been successful for very long but armed populations have never been defeated. Asking the hizbullies to give up theirs is pointless.
