1. What happened to the 15,000 U.N troops?!
michael ,   USA   (08.18.06)
the U.N. is an UNrealistic option. Olmert's idea is a complete disaster.
2. OLMERT - YOUR LAST CHANCE
TD ,   London   (08.18.06)
Olmert - this is your last chance. As predicted, this ceasefire will fail, posing a risk to the nation state you have been elected to represent. If you do not want to be remembered as the worst PM in Israel's history: 1 Declare that this ceasefire is a sham. 2 Request an immediate withdrawal of Lebanese troops. 3 Attack Syria - restore the reputation of the Israeli security forces. Become a legend. The time is now, as Israel is in danger.

4. Pathetique French Promises
Alan ,   SA   (08.18.06)
5. when we wrote UN resolution with the frenchies ...
John ,   NYC, US   (08.18.06)
we knew quite well it was a mixture of words without any meaning, copied from Madame Livni's memos. But what else could we do, after 30 days 30 DAYS??? And what we most wanted we won : the Lebanese army in the South of Lebanon AT LEAST ! A true democracy in MidEast is really born on this August of 2006 !!!!!!
6. In the end nobody cares about Lebanese after all
Jenny ,   USA   (08.18.06)
So many countries had people protesting in the streets that cared so much for Lebanon and you Lebanese believed them. You didn't realize it was more about being anti-Israel than giving a crap about Lebanon's stability or Lebanese people. When we in America tried to tell you that they don't care for you, nor do Hizbollah, you laughed and mocked us. Now do you see??? They won't even send troops to train and assist your national army. This will ensure Hezbollah's rise to the lead in Lebanon. Please Lebanese, I am begging you to see what is going on!
7. Phase 2 to becoming Islamic Republic of Lebanon
Joue ,   Lebanon   (08.18.06)
Is shame to say but what can we do? The world does not care for us is the truth.
8. They dont trust Israel
Rose ,   Bahrain   (08.18.06)
They are afraid that Israel might kill them " by mistake" as they did during the war and then apologise for that
9. It's only a question of time until Hezbollah is back on the
Proud Grandpa ,   www.KingArik.net   (08.18.06)
fence again, monitoring IDF's moves and strikes at will. What did this war achieve? Nothing. What did we lose in this war? Plenty.
10. Oh yeah, Bahrain Rose, I'm sure that explains
sk ,   USA   (08.18.06)
why the French didn't want a US-lead NATO force: the French wanted to avoid American casualites. Sheesh. How do you spell "dumb"? A R A B.
11. Resolution 1701. The recipe for disaster.
freedom ,   canada   (08.18.06)
Its pretty obvious to most. Israel has been duped, Hizbullah will simply rebuild their weapons base and Israel will once again head into Lebanon. This time the IDF will wind up in Beirut, as no one is interested in disarming Hizbullah and restoring peace to the area. Its high time Kofi Annan resigns or is removed from office. The united nations has no more credibility and Israel trusted far too much in this pathetic forum for anti semetism. Very, very sad indeed.
12. UN may not get the support, this time
Albert ,   Singapore   (08.18.06)
I am sceptical if UN cannot fill with multi-national troops. I am against with the Muslim troops to major the lead and they might shut one of their eyes for ressurection of Hiz trouble makers.
13. Security for Israel????
Sidney ,   USA   (08.18.06)
A Lebanese Army that will not confront Hezbollah. An international force mostly from Muslim countries. If you believe that this is good for Israel, I have some lots on the planet Venus to sell to you.
14. IDF returns without 2 soldiers, no effective UN, Olmert DUMB
Bunnie Meyer ,   Santa Monica, CA   (08.18.06)
as dirt. Did noPeace Now up his salary?
15. #8 Trust?
Mark ,   Israel   (08.18.06)
If "they" don't trust Israel, based on past actions of UNFIL concerning their role as a neutral force, how do you think those of us living in Israel feel?
16. Charge!
jim ,   chicago   (08.18.06)
Nothing can surprise with respect to the french. After posturing for weeks about leading a peacekeeping force they have now achieved a new record for themselves and surrendering before the possibility of hostilities. Perhaps they need a peacekeeping force to protect the peacekeeping force. Such a turn reminds us again that the french are without embarassement or honor and that it is all for the moment.
17. Useless Nations
MARK ,   USA   (08.18.06)
If another war breaks out, that blood is on the entire world. Shame on the EU.
18. those to blame
meni   (08.18.06)
Kofi Annan: whines to the world about how it took so long to get a ceasefire, but when the UN shirks its responsibility, is silent (predictable since he was silent for the six years before the war). better policy: keep silent next time. French: whines about 'disproportianate use of force' but when they suddenly have to do more than talk, they do nothing. better policy: shut up next time. Lebanese government: spends 6 years whining that they can't send their army to the south and disarm hizbollah. during the war, they fall over themselves begging us to 'give them a chance to prove themselves'. oops, now they're back to their whining about how they won't disarm hizbollah. better policy - next time a terrorist group from your country starts a war with another country, don't complain when your country gets the worst of it. this period is much worse than the period during the war, because a sustained international effort could actually prevent the next war. hizbollah could actually be significantly weakened if the lebanese government and an international force had some guts and did what they were supposed to do. the sad thing is that israel is too cynical to hold them to their words, and (read this lebanese) very busy preparing for the next round, which is now already inevitable (unless the lebanese and the UN gets their act together).
19. To Jenny #6
Constantine ,   Beirut   (08.18.06)
Don't you get it? Lebanon told the foreign forces not to come. We don't want anyone patroling our borders to do Israel a favor. Stop violating our borders and return Shebaa and then we might be willing to help you.
20. How Many French Does It Take?
Jeff ,   Cherry Hill, NJ USA   (08.18.06)
To Nasrallah: Ha! Now you're gonna get it Hezbollah. 400 Frenchmen. Look out. They will exhaust the few prostitutes in Hezbollahland. You can only hide (well you don't really have to) and buy hookers along with missles from your state sponsers of terrorism, Syria and Iran. On second thought, and based on experience, send only the Iranian missles and the Syrian women. You can then just help yourself to the white flags they carry when they are with your women. Bon Jour.
21. Operation: Say What?
Jeff ,   Cherry Hill, NJ USA   (08.18.06)
400 French; 15,000 Lebanese; 2000 Indonesians; Malaysians; Bangledeshis? Is the plan to open 1000 7-11 stores and 1000 gas stations that don't have service bays in Lebanon with rude French managers and that serve bad bean soup? Wait Till Iran and North Korea Offer to Send Troops. How about Fijian infantry with their stupid skirts so the Greek comandos don't have to work so hard? Where is the US? Is everyone in the same coma as Sharon??
22. proud grandpa?
bill ,   washington d.c.   (08.18.06)
proud grandpa, i think you need to take your meds. you are getting cranky. again. instead of complaining all the time, why don't you tell us what you think should happen? the war is over for now...get over it. what would happen if you were the prime minister?
23. 15,000 UN troops??
Sheikh yer Bu'Tay ,   Dar al-Harb   (08.18.06)
Lies, lies, and more lies.
24. #7 Joue - Wrong!
Raz Mataz ,   Sizzle Lake, MV   (08.18.06)
The world DOES CARE about the Lebanese people. The problem is that the world cares more about resisting militarized guerilla terrorist factions. If Lebanon were to take a public stand against terrorism, announce that it was dead serious about disarming the hezzbos, and give up this "death to Israel and death to America" bullsh!t you would see nations tripping over each other to help Lebanon. You can't expect the support of the world if your government is willing to let an armed terrorist organization occupy half of your country.

26. #3, whats your point
ricky   (08.18.06)
#3, whats your point? what are you trying to show with those videos?
27. Yes for #15, Mark
Albert ,   Singapore   (08.18.06)
Mark, I'm not a Jew but I'm with your thot. Never trust 'possible-led' UNmuslim troops superseding the nos. by other multi-national forces. They may look like donkeys and can play monkeys with Israel. Just look at their local folks back in their countries making war protests and untrue allegations against Israel as if Israel must alway be same 'bad guy'. Israel must always be 0n-Guard.
28. Toothless In Lebanon
Michael ,   Minneapolis USA   (08.18.06)
The Lebanese PM has a Hezbo knife to his throat and puppet strings, courtesy of Hezbo-Iran-Syria. The incredibly shrinking 15k army will be "robust but not offensive" which is UNless for toothless and feckless. War returns within six months. Thanks UNless.
29. In Hebrew Ynet
E.Tonn   (08.18.06)
which is the main Ynet , (sorry folks, but that's a fact ) the first and main headline is "Progress in forming" etc etc. Here, for us 2nd class citizens it's still '"Difficulties" in forming. Quick, lets have demonstration in Basle Street TA for three and a half persons, with latte and designer sunglasses provided free for those who recognise a 'celeb'( ha ha, but they really do think they are, ho ho).
30.  to number 3: yes I saw it!
schulz ,   berlin   (08.18.06)
