cookie, I have a different theory than Sharon's, though the two are complementary. If you're gay, you have relatively little opportunity for gay-oriented entertainment. In the straight world, it's all around you, as nearly everthing is geared toward straight sexuality. Therefore, gay-oriented entertainment tends to be concentrated into short time span. Porn fits the bill. In addition, it so intrinsically outrageous (as all porn is, but even more so) that it serves political purposes as well. Finally, sex is profitable, even when directed at minorities. How's that?

Israel is a vibrant, strong, evolving parliamentary democracy, and culturally speaking, we do not prejudicially discriminate (by law) against Gays or Lesbians, nor should we. I am not gay, and I applaud the guy for visiting Israel and doing whatever he's doing. He is travelling to Israel at a time when most Jews in the U.S. aren't willing to visit. He is standing up for Israel, against the terrible brutality of Hizbullah, which is even more dangerous than simply a terrorist army. From what is reported, Mr. Lucas is not espousing any violence or hatred. So why should his actions, even if they are merely good PR and opportunism for his business, be subject to scathing and ignorant commentary from hateful people? Even if his views are totally different than mine, it is his right to do what he plans to do, and by granting him that right and respecting it, we strengthen the country. To all you critics of Mr. Lucas: If you don't appreciate the strength of peaceful diversity in Israel, then maybe you would prefer to live under the likes of Hizbullah, which would kill you just for being Israeli or American, or just for not believing in their exact perversion of Allah.
