1. Bibi's picture
Ari   (08.20.06)
I'm always curious why you guys always use such unflattering photos of bibi on this site and the newspapers. Just look at the picture associated with this article, he looks nuts, but clearly he is one of the smartest politicians in Israel... coincidence?........ I think not....
2. WHERE HAS BARAK-the 1 who brought abt this war DISAPPEAR TO?
H ,   Jerusalem   (08.20.06)
3. Barak and Bibi have no chance
Alex ,   LA, USA   (08.20.06)
Are the people so stupid? Only Lieberman left a good impression. He is much smarter than the other two guys. He is more energetic. And now they couldn't indict him.
4. God this country is so screwed up...
True voice ,   Canada   (08.20.06)
You people change leaders faster than I change underwear!
5. BIBI & LIKUD WERE RIGHT ABOUT ALMOST EVERYTHING.
Gary Jacobs ,   FREE EARTH   (08.20.06)
WELL, Bibi still has a lot to make up for on Wye, and Meshal... but if Sharon got a second chance in Israeli poilitics, there is no more deserving man alive than bibi. Almost everything he said about Gaza pull out was right. He handled himself during the war almost perfectly. Help us O.B.-Won Netanyahu, YOU ARE OUR ONLY HOPE!
6. Didn't Ehud Barach get us into this mess?
Confused   (08.20.06)
The Labor party wants Ehud Barach to come back - the worst Prime Minister we ever had! Are they crazy?
7. the only choice for us is victory
Zionist ,   Israel   (08.20.06)
Israel's most significant loss that resulted from this war was its deterrence. This also happens to be its most important asset without which Israel would have been demolished a long time ago. Now is the time to refocus our national agenda on the vital issue of restoring our deterrence. This means strengthening our military to what it once was, strengthening our diplomatic relations as best we can, and preparing for the unavoidable but necessary confrontation with Iran which in my opinion will seal Israel's fate (our existence) for at least the next few decades. I also think Bibi is the right man for the job.
8. Bibi is back
S Judah ,   london   (08.20.06)
The media killed Bibi - but reality brought him back. His econmoic policies were harsh - but they worked. All Likud now need is Yalon to get on board.
9. I guess I trust Attila to know what the politicos are doing,
sk ,   USA   (08.21.06)
but are Israelis really dumb enough to vote for Barak again? I don't think he was the worst PM in Israel's history - that honor must go to Rabin - but he was very, very bad. Do Israelis want to evict Barak Jr. (Merlot) only to have Barak Sr. run the show?
10. Where Is Moshe ???
dave ,   nyc   (08.21.06)
Moshe Arens is probably the only experienced politician capable of bringing credibility to a new government. Whether it is PM, FM, Chief of Staff, or Defense Minister, he belongs in a major role in the next cabinet. I guarantee that if a poll were taken today Israelis would agree that he is a qualified patriot to help lead Israel in the post Kadimah Experiment. He is principled and his credentials are impeccable. Both statesman and scientist, he is widely respected. His command of the English language is excellent and he is coherent, decisive and considered very intelligent. With vast military experience, his approach to security would be invaluable. The enemy would fear him. The international community would respect him. And Israel would regain some of the confidence that was squandered by the current government. The only problem is, would he re-enter politics? If he realized that he could help repair the damage done over the last months, he might be convinced to step in. I truly hope so for Israel's sake.
11. Churchill Was A Good Leader
Dave Levi ,   Burbank. USA   (08.21.06)
When England was going down for the count, along came Churchill, who inspired the country. But he had help (US, Russia), without which Englahd today would be singing the German national anthem. Israel needs not only a better (more experienced and ruthless), leader, but a solid policy. It's enemies are changing..from Egypt/Jordan/Syria and Iraq..to a crescent area including old enemies (Syria) and new ones, Hamas/Hezbollah/Iran. Bibi might be better for Israel, or worse, its depends. Perhaps a coalition of Kadima and Likud is good? But whether Bibi, or Barak or Olmert...it's Israel's overall policy that counts. In that respect, it needs a lot of introspection and avoidance of pointing too many fingers (at it's own people). Hezbollah didn't lose, but it didn't win. It has plenty of volunteers to replace those lost..and Iran will supply more missiles. You can bet on that. Next time, Israel should use those bunker busters..and end this thing quickly, like it did in 67. Hurt them, and hurt them hard is Israel's answer to superior numbers. The Arabs are stil playing games with Israel, whether through the UN, EU, Arab League or gullible Israeli Jews (want peace at any price), who wishful think.
12. Bibi Makes Sense
Jay ,   Rochester, NY   (08.21.06)
Bibi's position is that this cease-fire deal will ultimately fail. If the enemy will use ambulances and human shields, they will disguise themselves as UN and the media will jump on Israel like a chicken on a June Bug. I do all I can on my website to help Israel get the truth out to the American People with Newsbusters and it is frustrating to see a delusional false optomism while danger grows and prepares for a more adventageous opportunity. Remember England wanted to believe Chamberland, but Churchill was a voice crying in the wilderness...and he was right!
13. Bibi can lead Israel
Adam ,   CT, USA   (08.21.06)
Only Bibi, can lead Israel towarxs the right path! He is strong and will stand up to the Hizbullah, the dumb arabs in Gaza and West Bank, Iran, and Syria. He will also get the economy humming again just as he did while he was finance minister a year ago!! GO BIBI IT'S GAME TIME!
14. No to Barak Yes to Bibi
Sam Weinstein ,   USA   (08.21.06)
Let's see Barak the man who ran from Lebanon who caused this problem in the first place. Let me see the man who wanted to give away everything at Oslo oh yes that Barak no Way Jose Nada Encelada NO. Yes to Bibi
15. At least this time
A. Oakley   (08.21.06)
Bibi won't need to give them guns, they already have them...

Have you heard of Trump Towers Ramat Gan? You too can buy /receive one.
17. #10
Miriam   (08.21.06)
Youve named all the reasons why the manipulators will make sure he's nowhere in the running.
18. israel politics look like beasts waiting each other to fall
Michelle ,   France   (08.21.06)
to cut them to pieces,& they all don't dare about own people & their safetiness.they only mind on own careers & benefits at the time when israeli soldiers & citizens are suffering & dying
19. Barak is coming back?
jason white ,   afula,israel   (08.21.06)
That is like the story of the student driver running over an old man.As the front wheels of the auto rolled over him,the student yelled out,"be careful!" And the old man yelled back,"why are you returning?" This man was a disaster to the state of Israel and he should be banned from politics and even talking about politics or military matters. His return would only spell disaster for the state of Israel and for the Jewish people. We can do without him and his foolish ideas.Remember him wanting to give harafat 98% of the liberated territories? They would not have to fire kassams into the center of Israel, they could throw them in. Go away and shut up barak! You were a total failure as p.m. once,we need someone with some sense in his head and not another fool with crazy ideas.
20. How about this ...
Jeff ,   Australia   (08.21.06)
Why dont you guys give up. You never had good leaders. Mostly generals or terrorists in PM uniforms. However none of them can guarantee your safety. Your best bet is to make peace with Hamas and Hisbullah. Only they can guarantee your safety. Or better still, Fold Israel and accept Ismael or Nasrallah as your true leaders. Cheers ..
21. #18 How is that different from any other country's top govt?
(08.21.06)
Take a look in your own backyard. Chirac is selling his soul to the devil - meaning he is ensuring you are over-run by terrorists just to avoid any political missteps.
22. #20 Right after Australia gives itself to Indonesia
(08.21.06)
23. Humm... leadership problem or ideology problem?
Ellie Khouri ,   Lebanon   (08.21.06)
Execuse me guys to stick my nose but you do not seem to know where the problem is... you think it is leadership but it is infact ideology problem. You are looking for a tougher person than all you had already....Even if you had Hitler as a Jewish leader, you will not have the victory that will bring peace to you.... If you see the destruction in Lebanon, you will know that you already used your ultimate power, so more power will not bring you peace. Do not give us the bullshit you tell the world about Iran and the destruction of Israel, the truth is that you only need to give back the Lebanese prisoners, Chabaa farms, stop your daily flights so Lebanese would see your human side (if it exists????). Try the peace way.... maybe that will help you... More rigid heads will not take you anywhere except more wars. Frankly speaking, I think you are only aiming to gain some time out before the next generation grows up and fight you again... Just because they saw you killing their parents when they were young... You do not get peace by force, you make peace... If you kill your enemy, there will be no one to make peace with. Think about it form your heart and brain, not from your balls.
24. netanyahu, barak biding their time
debbie ,   israel   (08.21.06)
To Jeff, #20 That is such bright advice, why didnt we all think of it first! Make peace with Hamas and Hizbollah! They are just sitting there waiting to make peace with Israel. If it were up to them, there would be SIX MILLION more dead Jews. You are not only terribly naive, you are dumb. And just for the record, are you American? They would chop you into tiny pieces the first chance they get. They cheered and threw candies when your twin towers were destroyed with thousands of young men and women in them. Have you forgotten?
25. #23
jp ,   UG   (08.21.06)
well sir i guess Isrealis are thinking about their country here n not Leb. So i guess they dont use their balls for thinking like you who let a terrorist group grow in your midst n they cry theat you are being killed. Just wait a minute, r u lebs looking for peace with Isreal with Hezb amongst u and declaring to erase Isreal? Hmm just to remind you leadership is always important luckily Isreal has a choice to elect its leaders. Long Live Isreal n Shalom to Isreal
26. Did not Barak order the fleeing of our troops from Lebanan ?
Harry   (08.22.06)
Allowed The Hizballah to accunulate allthese missles under our noses. He is no leader no nbetter or even worse than the incapable Olmert. Moshe Arens I beleive would be much better.
27. 23 Ellie Khouri - why no mention of
S Judah ,   london   (08.22.06)
Nice of you to come on with your views and would love to debate with you. However your failure to even mention Hezbollah leads me to conclude that you are not addressing the truth and as is common in your world, "Its always someones else fault, never your own". Tell me, can I get on to Hebollah's web site and make comments against them? The quality of our society is we can argue, debate, disagree, change , improve etcand move on. Try it , I hope it works for you.
