S. Yizhar was a true native of the Land of Israel. He loved his people, his land and the morals and ethics of Judaism. He also had deep sympathies towards the Palestinians. In the 1980's his short story "Hirbet Hiza" about Palestinian refugees in 1948 was made into a television drama. It never negated the rights of the Jewish people but it also recognized that there are other peoples here. He will be missed by all of the house of Israel. My condolences to his family.
