1. I have heard everything now.
Peter Morris ,   New Zealand   (08.25.06)
Having just killed well over 1000 Lebanese as well as causing something like $5 billion dollars worth of damage Israel now seems to know what respecting sovereignity is all about. There is something unreal in all this, its as if Israeli politicians delight in spouting the absurd.
2. Time to Livni to free the gvt
Micheew ,   Germany   (08.25.06)
and to Israel to free his neighboors and to Usa to free the world and to Bush to free all of us and if everybody began by this, everything will be better don't you think so? Tzipi, why do you everytime shake your hairs at the tv?
3. Everyone should respect Lebanon's sovereignty
Sababa ,   Tel Aviv   (08.25.06)
I fully agree with Tzipi Livni. And while I think that Israel was right in defending itself against Hizballah, I find it a bit ironic to hear the Israeli FM urge Syria to respect Lebanon's sovereignty when Israel still has a blockade in place against Lebanon and has violated it sovereign airspace for years. Talk about the glasshouse...
4. wishfu thinking--syria??
bob ,   potomac md usa   (08.25.06)
syria does not respect the sovereignty of Lebanon or Israel because incorporating both Lebanon and Israel into Greater Syria has always been a part of the Syrian world view. That's why I laugh at silly, naive Iraeli politicians talking about giving up the Golan "for peace." The Golan? Syria wants the whole shmier! When will you naive people wake up to reality?
5. 1 Peter Morris: The ONLY unreal is YOU Hate Monger
Gabrielle Goldwater ,   Geneva Switzerland   (08.25.06)
you were that crap poster - who insisted Israel had planted the Rockets ..... You are either too young to understand - or since we explained to you many times - Just plain Hating Israel and Jews
6. How you dare
hussein ,   lebanon   (08.25.06)
How Livni dare, talking about Syria, to speak about freedom of lebanon , while Isreal distroy and kill lebanese people (not Hizbollah) and make an ambargo on lebanon ( not Hizbollah). I forgot to say even now day, that lebanese land is full of bombs that kill children I invite her, to respect at least the memories of thoses innocent people that israel killed durring one month bombing
7. Get a clue...
(08.25.06)
You people have no clue. Was/is Syria protecting their country? No. They're using Hizbollah to fight a prozy war against Israel. In fact they're using misquided and naive people like you to fight their media war. How you people can support these corrupt and tyranical regimes is truely amazing. Disarm the Syrian and Iranian Terror group and their will be no Israeli blockade and no Lebanese civilian casualties, at least not caused by Israel, the only type of casualties that matter to people like you...Wonder where you guys were when the Russians killed 200,000 chechen civilians.
8. To Minister Livni
Zigzag ,   New York   (08.25.06)
Hey Livni ... Yes Syria must respect the 1701 and so is the case for Israel too and thus far there is no sign of it yet. And since your brought the issue of respect let me remind of a dozen of UN resolution that has been out there waiting for Israel to respect. What about the UN resolutions 149, 242, 338 etc. Can you please tell us when is the time when Israel will start "thinking" about respecting these resolutions? By the way do you still use the word "respect" in Israel? Does it belong to your dictionary anymore? Or did you replace it with the words "OCCUPATION", "KILLING", "AGRESSION"? When you live in a house of glass do not cast others with stome. And maybe it is time to see the branch tree in your eye before seeing the splnter in others eyes.
9. #1 -- What planet you're on, Pluto?
Quique ,   Planet Earth   (08.25.06)
"Having just killed well over 1000 Lebanese".... How many of these were Hezbollah? How many of them were human shields? How many Israelis died? You don't seem to be aware there is a paramilitary group called Hebollah. No wonder you find this world absurd.
10. Zigzag, you are living in a dream world
Jake   (08.25.06)
You talk about UN resolutions, not that the Arab states have ever respected any UN resolutions, but let's explore the subterfuge in your charges: Resolution 149: A General Assembly Resolution, ie. non-binding, which makes no mention of 'right of return' of Arab refugees, and makes no mention of the refugees being specificly Arab. Besides, in 1949 under international agreement, Israel re-admitted 100,000 Arab refugees who were willing to live in peace! Resolutions 242 and 338: Chapter 6 Security Council Resolutions, i.e. legally non-binding, but designed to acheive a NEGOCIATED solution. Israel is not obligated to withdraw from anything, but SHOULD, repeat SHOULD 'withdraw from territories', unspecified how much, and through negociations with Arab states, establish SECURE and recognized boundaries. Only one part of the resolution 338 is a 'decision' and therefore arguably binding: That Arab states and Israel should negociate the solution to the problem. Time to end the hypocrisy and baseless charges, AND START READING THE FINE PRINT.
11. I think Livni should..
Lynne   (08.25.06)
respect the souvereignty of the word souveriegnty and not use it anymore!!
12. P.Morris is a deranged old man. leave him alone
John ,   NZ   (08.25.06)
13. Livni misinformed
moe ,   montreal, Qc   (08.25.06)
mayb Livni is misled and misinformed, Israel army is the one who is occuping land in south lebanon, and lebanon wants the land free from them.. Syria is only trying to help, they are providing weapons to the resistance, but they don't have an army over there. Israel is lebanon's enemy, Syria is not. and Livni, Pls next time don't talk in the name of lebanon, cause they can't stand your like. and your country as well.
14. when Livni returns to Israel she will be looking for a job
jj ,   london, UK   (08.25.06)
and Hizbollah will be still in power, while you and your PM suffer the stupid decisions about starting this war, Hizbollah is much stronger now. all thanks to your stupid plans, along with your stupid friends in the States.
15. Wake up already
Alban ,   Montgomery, AL   (08.25.06)
Syria’s goal is to destroy Israel. Iran’s goal is to destroy Israel. They have said this many times publicly. The Peace Process is a farce concocted by do-gooders who just like to say, “Well, we tried!” Show me one time where Israel’s land concessions actually bought peace. All it does is gives the terrorists a closer spot to attack from. You don’t make a bully go away by cutting off your own arm and giving it to him. The UN is about to send in 15,000 more ineffective troops. So? They will all be observers who are unwilling to fight to keep the peace. Does “fighting to keep the peace” sound like an oxymoron to you? Well, “troops who don’t fight” sounds like an oxymoron to me. If the 15,000 UN troops won’t fight Hezbollah then what are they there to do? Fight Israel? The UN can only be reliably trusted to serve its own interests. I forget – why do we even have a United Nations in the first place? The nations are not united, and the UN isn’t doing anything to make them any more united. Israel needs to wake up. None of these concessions are working. The Peace Process has never produced any peace. Israel’s neighbors want Israel gone, gone, gone! They scream it every day. They send rockets every day. They attack civilians ON PURPOSE every day. Is this thing on? Take the hint, Israel. They all want you dead and gone. You can’t negotiate with someone who would like nothing more than to tear you in half and drink your blood. I’ve been saying for years, Israel should ignore the UN and their ridiculous Peace Process. They should stop apologizing for being alive and move on. They need to expand their country to the dimensions God promised Abraham back in Genesis 15:18 and go from there.
16. ZIGZAG YOU GOT BALLS...
KEITH ,   NY,USA   (08.25.06)
YOU got alot of nerve spouting out that crap.. What do you do on your spare time, wrap weed in your name and smoke it? Israel HAS the right to protect itself, and might I add, do it well!! How soon we forget, do you remember 9/11? Do you think we should stop protect ourselves too? If these radicals would stop attacking us and Israel then maybe we would stop going after them. Listen, I'm obveouly wasting my time on an ignorant fool, so i won't continue this, but you remember this...when some of your family get killed in the future, remember to tell them that they shouldn't have been so stupid to stand where they were, that way they would still be alive. And finish with "don't expect me to do anything about it, that would be wrong".
17. ONCE AGAIN, MOE THE BONEHEAD IS BACK TALKEN QUACK!!
KEITH ,   NY,USA   (08.25.06)
18. to all fo you US citizen
Mick ,   Australia   (08.25.06)

19. To #18
Frank Moore ,   Sydney, Australia   (08.25.06)
The majority of the Lebanese are neither with Hezbollah nor Israel. You however are a sophomoric embarrassment to Australians.
20. #5 mind your manners
Rustum ,   Cairo   (08.26.06)
And there was I thinking that you had emigrated to Israel in its time of need so that you could go and protect Afula from the katushas. I was so wrong. Cowardice and name calling are truly your game. Wy don't you once in yuor life set foot in the Middle East, honey? I think it's because your particular brand of hateful fascism is not welcome anywhere. Please make sure to give Hezbulla your correct coordinates.
21. #5 Goldwater Hanem
Rustum ,   Cairo   (08.26.06)
Actually, I would go further and say that in terms of representing what Israel stands for, you are an old has-been. Your particular brand of hysterical racism is something of the past. Your only contributions here are to call well-meaning people ridiculous knee-jerk names and to spread insults around. With many people one can have ideological differences but the only solution for you, hanem, is intihar and the sooner the better.
22. #19 Frank
Mick ,   Australia   (08.26.06)
according to what survey you get your majority mate, if I'm embarrassement to Australia you are embarressent to man kind when you don't know what you talikin about unless you talking from an Israeli or US side.
23. #19..Frank, sorry to tell you ..
Lynne   (08.26.06)
...that you have the wrong information.. the last time Israel occupied Lebanon they created Hezbollah as a resistance movement, this time they have united the ME behind Hezbollah.. Israel's tactics of indiscriminate slaughter and destruction in Lebanon have achieved Hezbollahs goal of being recognized as the armed protector of the Lebanese nation.. the Christian Maronite Bishop of Beirut has declared that his people now embrace Hezbollah as THE ONLY force which is prepared to fight to defend them from slaughter... results from a scientific survey conducted in Beirut between July 24 and July 26 by the Beirut Center for Research and Information by which 800 Lebanese were surveyed on a variety of topics including the performance of the government during the crisis as well as how Hezbollah and its actions are viewed in general.. according to this poll 87 percent of Lebanese support Hizbollah's fight with Israel, a rise of 29 percent on a similar poll conducted in February... it interestingly shows a rising in the level of support for Hizbullah's resistance from non-Shiite communities... 80 percent of Christians polled supported Hezbollah along with 80 percent of Druze and 89 percent of Sunnis.
