31. Why not the entire 5 min. video?
Messenger   (08.27.06)
Why does YNet only provide a snippet of the video? http://today.reuters.co.uk/tv/videoStory.aspx?isSummitStory=false&storyId=eb16e63077404ca28ffbcacecb56291d0ef0f9b0&WTmodLoc=NewsArt-R4-WatchVideos-2
32. Hostages
Ron ,   USA   (08.27.06)
I think that the whole thing was planned and performed by the Fatah party of Mahmud Abbas the great leader of the so called "palestinians". Now, he will come out and claim that he did release the "guest". The world will shower him with prises and money and the US will offer him a 100 millions as reward for the heroic action. Wait, he might even get a Nobel peace price from Koffi.
33. AL Qaeda has arrived
nehad ismailc ,   camberley, england   (08.27.06)
Al-Qaeda has exploited the desperation and poverty in Gaza to recruit potential terrorists. Both the Palestinian Authroity and Israel must bear responsibility for allowing the situation in Gaza to reach such a low point. Readers must be reminded that Gaza is still under occupation. The IDF pulled out from the heavily populated urban areas but has imposed an air, sea and land siege. This fact must not be forgotten.
34. "ISLAM: THE RELIGION OF PEACE"
aaron ,   ra'anana   (08.27.06)
35. conversion to the religion of peace
BS meter ,   Canada   (08.27.06)
By the sword. That's pretty much how people were forced to convert to Islam during its glory days.
36. Their conversion is a blessing in disguise
(08.27.06)
they can have more religious holidays and loads more presents.

41. Now that's what I call Baptism by Firing squad!!!
Mike   (08.27.06)
42. What really kills me is that ...
Toby   (08.27.06)
they were kidnapped either by PLO or Hamas operatives, held hostage but some nutty group affiliated to PLO and now everyone is thanking them for releasing them. Isn't that ironic??? Am I the only one who smell something fishy?
43. Media circus
Hilda ,   USA   (08.27.06)
So the media fraud is over. These damn Arab loves were never captured. They went on their own accord and now they have converted to Islam and showed their real colors. Better if Shalit and the other two Israeli soldiers were freed. This was just a sham and a scam. to seek attentiont o their cause. Israel should not have allowed them into Israel.
44. Palestinians want an end to Jewish occupation
kim ,   usa   (08.27.06)
They don't care who is Muslim and who is not and there are many, many Palestinians who are not muslims, why they now want Fox people (out of the whole world) to become muslims. Something fishy, big time. This an Israeli-planned operation.
45. I'd rather they cut my head off then say I am a Muslim
(08.27.06)
Jewish Israeli now Jewish Israeli forever
46. missing the point- all of you
USA   (08.27.06)
the reporters STILL inist that the PAls are a beautiful people that people need to understand and read their story- I hope with this situation the reporters tell the world REASON the Pals are so upset- and its the Israeli occupation and treatment of them.
47. stupid journalists....
someone ,   TA   (08.27.06)
After all the kidnappings of foreigners in Gaza in the last months (specially when there was the controversary about the Mohamad cartoons), I realy don't feel sorry for those journalists...israel should trow them out of israel....they love the Palestinian people? Why to return to safety in Israel?
48. Kidnapped Fox News reporters
Big Fred ,   USA   (08.27.06)
I am glad to see that Centanni and Wiig were realeased. However, Centanni's comments comments show that he is either suffering from Stockholm syndrome, or his "love" of Palestinians makes him unfit to report fairly from the region. I wrote. You decide.
49. all is well if it ends well
andy ,   haifa   (08.27.06)
thank gd for a good ending as long as they are alive who cares about religion isnt the life the most sacred thing we got............
50. Nannette#8: do not take history from Jews
Mustafa ,   Egypt   (08.27.06)
There were no Jews in Mecca at time of Mohammad or at any time before or after. The Jews were in Medina, about 500 Km north of Mecca. The Hudaibiah treaty was between Mohammad and the infidels in Mecca; most of them belonged to Quraish tribe, the very tribe Mohammad (AL-Qurashi) belongs to. The terms of the treaty was first debated by friends of Mohammad because they saw it as unjustly show Mohammad followers as the weak partner. Mohammad encouraged them to accept it as a gesture of tolerance. Few years later, Quraish committed a massacre; killing peaceful non-armed Muslims. Then Mohammad had to conquer his own tribe Quraish and take Mecca. In Mecca, even though, there was no killing of infidels except very few who fought the Muslims. Islamic instructions do not set time limit whatsoever for the treaty, as long as the other partner does not breach it. To Muslims, Christians and Jews are People of Book; they are not considered infidels. Islamic Scholars realized that some fake stories (called in arabic Israeliiat) are put by Jews since the early Islam to weaken the common Muslims, faith. So do not take history from Jews.
51. #46 : I agree with you.
Mustafa ,   Egypt   (08.27.06)
52. the true Torah, we believe in.
Mustafa ,   Egypt   (08.27.06)
Muslims believe in and respect Torah and Enjeel (the tue bibles of Jews and Christians). For the true Torah; you can ask Keriat Jews may be they have a kind of; but we do not think it is the completely true on.
53. Classical 'identification with the aggressor'
Shalom Freedman ,   Jerusalem   (08.27.06)
These guys are not to be judged for what they have said and done recently. They were frightened out of their minds, with good reason. Their 'identification with their aggressors' and pro- Palestinian propaganda may seem absurd and shameful to outsiders, but it like their conversion to Islam 'kept them alive and sane'. They need time to be with their families, and be alone- and also perhaps receive therapy before they can go back to the 'beautiful Palestinians' for more.
54. Not biased ... just local sources?
Steve ,   USA   (08.27.06)
B"H When the press claims it is not biased from this region, it needs to be remembered: (Quote from article) “We were forced to convert to Islam at gunpoint,” Centanni later told Fox. “Don’t get me wrong here. I have the highest respect for Islam, and I learned a lot of good things about it, but it was something we felt we had to do because they had the guns, and we didn’t know what the hell was going on.” If this is the American ideal of democracy, I think freedom of religion and press is getting lost when people are "free" only when the gun is at their head. Therefore, to prevent those with guns and those seeking nuclear arms to enforce mass conversion at gun-point, I think defense is appropriate; and I cannot trust "neutral" sources reporting from Gaza, because of incidents like this where the "neutrality" is imposed at gunpoint.
55. Nothing to do with Stockholm
Cayce ,   USA   (08.27.06)
This has nothing to do with stockholm syndrome. They nominally "converted" because their captors put guns to their heads. I'd go through the motions too if that meant saving my life. Isn't that obvious to everyone?
56. Stockholm for the story?
Cayce ,   USA   (08.27.06)
I think what I understand now is that people here are saying they have this "stockholm syndrome" because they care about the Palestinian people. It wasn't stockholm before they got there, and its not stockholm now. It's just how they feel about the people there. i love journalists and what they do for those of us who can't obtain and have no access to this information. why should they be patronized for their desire to tell anyone's story? It must be done.
57. #48 Big Fred
Robby ,   San Jose, USA   (08.27.06)
Great observation Fred - I hope you write to Fox news and tell them also!
58. Re #24: Comment on missles
Steve ,   USA   (08.27.06)
B"H The questioning of the missles is just to destract from who made and allowed transportation of the guns that these kidnappers used to point at the heads of those who "converted". The main topic is actually the kidnapping and the "freedom of press" available under conditions of duress in this propoganda war. The mention of missles used to kill Gaza residents is a distraction from the main topic, which is that these kidnappers are imposing Islam through force as part of a global Jihad effort, and that they are involving the press in their schemes. From http://www.ynetnews.com/articles/0,7340,L-3296241,00.html "Iran is not looking to harm innocent people, not even in Tel Aviv. There is no place in the Iranian combat doctrine for the use of nuclear arms. The only thing that stands in the center of its strategy is the use of nuclear energy for peaceful purposes," said Jalali in an interview with reporters. As stated in this article: "...I have the highest regard for Islam and I learned some very interesting things about it, but we only did that because they had the guns and we didn't know what the hell was going on." If Iran gets nuclear weapons, it will try to also impose Global Jihad in the same "peaceful" manner that these folks did, by pointing their weapons at various nations and demanding subserviance as a proof of "innocence". Officially, Iran will claim is is only involved in peaceful research, but in reality it will be the peaceful research of this nature, to convert nations to do its bidding as proof as its innocence; as it wrote a letter to the President of the United States, to convince to convert. The attempt to impose a false religion on Israel through arms is already happening in the attack on Israel from the north which did not succeed, thank G-d, in completely converting Israel to Islam. Israel needs to take the proper steps to ensure its spiritual and physical defense from such schemes. The United States also has a lot to lose if such policy replaces the consitution, overthrowing the government and rights through coercion. France, too, has a lot to lose if the Hisbullah that is also centered in Paris gets out of control in this fashion and it fails to impose order in Lebanon. Wake up world to the new Global Jihad.
59. Others mistakes do not wash out your sins
Mustafa ,   Egypt   (08.27.06)
Israel kills women and children, destroy civilian living, and say it is by mistake.
60. #8
adnan ,   WestBank   (08.27.06)
Nannette, i'm sorry to tell you that you have been in a serious flagrant mistake. Books are available and abundant all over the world which discuss "Al-Hudaibiya Treaty" ,you can appeal even to western historicians . Actually i my self relying and use to quote the terms of this treaty to enhance my stance which supporting establishing peace treaty with Israel , a permanent one , non vulnerable , not as you envisage Nannette. my best wishes.
