To Nicolaus and those who think land for peace will work. It will not. No matter how much land Israel gives up, it will never be enough for peace. The PALS and other arab entities don't want peace, they want Israel plain and simple. There will never be peace in this region no matter how much land is compromised. As long as the destruction of Israel is the aim of Terrorists, land for peace will not bring peace. It's unfortunate, but it's true.

I wholeheartedly hope that there will be peace someday. But I'm not sure your way is the good one. Israel quit Lebanon in 2000 at the full satisfaction of the international community (the UN) and Katyoushas have been fired off and on since then - without provocation. Gaza has been completely evacuated by Israel a year ago and not one day has gone by without Quassam rockets being fired in Israel (not even Israeli settlements). Maybe every Israeli citizen would receive the Nobel Prize if Israel returned all the territories as you suggest, but they would also quickly be all dead. Return territories, OK, but with something in exchange.
36. #14: Right. Some even say al-qaida is a jewish conspiracy...
Nowhere Man ,   Metropolis, Zion   (08.28.06)
E.g. the thesis according to which 9/11 has been organized - or orchestred or supervised - by a conspiracy made of Israeli and American right-wing & neo-con circles are gaining more and more weight even in the US; and also amid professors, searchers and historians... (even a former german minister of the '70s...). Millions of Pakistani people think jewish employees working in the twin towers actually left before or didn't show up on 9/11, since they would have been notified of the danger... I even met some Iranians in Switzerland (but working the western kind of life) who suggested - only half-way for laughing - that Ahmadinjad was put in power by the Mossad in order to further legitimate polarize the fight between arab-muslim and western civilization... One thing is sure: If we had killed as many Palestinians as the arabs themselves killed, there would not be any palestinian issue in this world no more.
37. #5: I admit to ask myself the same question, but:
Nowhere Man ,   Metropolis, Zion   (08.28.06)
1) The rest of the world is itself under pressure itself as well, i.e. by islamic terrorism. Look at France, 7 million muslims in 60-million-people country... Quite a potential for a complete mess up. Remember the riots in the banlieue ? 2) The rest of the world has a complex relationship with jews, because of history. All were inevitably involved, either as active perpetrators, or passively by doing nothing. Seeing now that Jews can show teeths as well helps them to get rid of their feeling of guilt, saying: 'See, they can be just as mean as we were'.

Tahl ,   Israel   (08.28.06)
Where did you come up with a bunch of such far-fetched, outrageous ideas? Liberal media in SF gotten the better of you? The fact that Al-Qaida causes damage to Arabs, is attributable to solely to the zealousness and crazyness of Al-Qaida, and certainly not "Zionism encourages such extremism". Zionism has nothing to do with terror or extremism! Saying this is an horrific, outrageous affront to Israel, and borders on anti-semitism. (oops, I'm sorry, I guess I can't use this term anymore, even when relevant.) And you taking seriously anything out of Djazairi's ludicrous ideas also speaks volumes about your own credibility. No one in his right mind thinks the "Israeli armed forces are weak". Only Arabs, and weak-minded people who are easily influenced by shallow media headlines. So that's what Hizbollah wants you to think with their "victory" celebration. Let them celebrate. We've outkilled their fighters 1:4, destroyed almost all of their headquarters, destroyed their infrastructure, and now they can't shoot at Israel, kidnap soldiers, or even just re-arm themselves - any such act would be a violation of the ceasefire, which would bring about immediate retaliation (as witnessed two weeks ago, after the ceasefire). Did Israel win? No, we haven't killed the snake's head yet, but I can hardly call this a victory for Hizbollah either. Israel is damaged by Hizbollah, but by Al-Qaida too. Just because they haven't yet bombed Israeli targets, doesn't mean they're not planning, or haven't tried! And for your information, Israel shares lots of vital information with the US on the war on terror, which includes, of course, Al-Qaida. Why would we want to share our efforts on this war, if we didn't want the US to exterminate Al-Qaida? So much for your "asset for Israel" theory. "Unless Israel chooses to follow a peaceable path with its neighbors"... Excuse me??? What do you call the peace agreement we made with Egypt (and a very, very, very frigid peace at that)? What do you call the peace with Jordan? What do you call the disengagement plan, which absolutely TORE Israel from within? And the hundreds of qassams we got in return? And most importantly - what do you call the pullout from Lebanon, six years ago, to the very last inch?... Into the undisputed international border? What do you call Hizbollah's constant provocations over these six years, which cost Israel about 25 lives before this war started? And what do you call Israel's restraint up until this war? Is this not a "peaceable path" which is enough for you? What a hypocrite you are, with such a short memory! "I suggest releasing the prisoners..." - Fine, but would the US release Al-Qaida prisoners, for peace with Al-Qaida?... Would it release any other killers who are proud of the blood on their hands? "There is no choice here, Peace is the way!" - well said. Now go to Hizbollah and Hamas and convince them of this noble idea. All in all, I'm sure your intention is good, but your arguments are silly and simplistic (in the good case) and completely blind and out of touch with reality (in the worse case).

Djazaïri ,   France   (08.28.06)
As usual zionists know much things about Al Qaida. I'm not surprised : it's their thing. Hezbollah and Hamas have nothing to do with this zionist creation, they fight for justice as Palestinians have been deprived from their land by the zionist thieves.

This reminds me of the quote attributed to the late Golda Meir - "If you want to know what they (arabs) want to do to us (jews), take a look what they do to each other."
42. Hizbollah is evil
chuck moody ,   Grangeville, ID USA   (08.28.06)
Perhaps what the civilized world needs to do is foment war between the Sunni and Shia branches of jihado. Let them kill each other, rather than innocent civilians.
43. if Shite n Sunni can have a war with each other
John ,   NZ   (08.28.06)
it would take the heat off Israel.. just like the Iran-Iraq war. When they have nobody to fight, they would pick Israel. Do they have any frens? Yes, their own suicide bombers.

When will all this madness end ?!! if there is any consolation for me at least I hope that one day hopefuly very soon the middle east will be hit by an astroid. and all of you westerners out there will have to do without Oil or Bankers !!

Larry ,   Corpus Christi, USA   (08.28.06)
very well stated! not all americans are scared to stand up for what is right. only the isolationist liberals that think sticking their head in the sand will protect them from those that want them dead. "if you can't see it, it won't hurt you" very well stated indeed
50. Well, well, well
the logical nemesis   (08.29.06)
So much for Nasrallah's lies about the Shia and the Sunni joining forces. But even still they are like two peas in a pod.. one just as loonie as the other and both trying to claim his followers are the special ones
51. Sounds like Al Quaida is jelouse
Doug ,   Wyoming, USA   (08.29.06)
Hizbullah did pretty well with their rockets and made the Israeli military look like thuggish fools. They impressed the world by having weapons we didn't think they had. Al Quaida on the other hand used Wal-Mart box cutters and has been on the run eversince they attacked a country wide open and an easy hit. Hitting Israel is much harder to do successfuly.
52. More like Al-Mossad
Marc ,   Australia   (08.29.06)
Al Qaeda vs Hizbollah. Would'nt that be a match to watch equivalent of thye world cup finals. Its more likely that fictitious Abu Abdul Rahman takes his orders from another Abu who sits in Tel Aviv. Nice try though. Would have been match of the season.
53. Can U Admit or u need a witness
Bitter-Truth ,   Lebanon   (08.29.06)
i think that it is very difficult for every person to admit for the real situation that he sees
54. Maybe True Liberty is the only answer
Bill Prescott ,   Windsor On CA   (08.30.06)
Truly free Liberal Democracy EVERYWHERE is the only solution. A pot cannot decry his fellow kettles for being black. As much as we love our faithful commitments in this world , there is no place for conservatist "religious" socialisms in politics. Only Imperial Liberty (and fascism in defence of that only) can save us all from all of each others various distortedly hateful notions .of "moralness". To love a G_d is to know that It is love.
55. Hell is going to filled-up soon
Sal ,   Florida   (08.31.06)
Let all Islamofacist, murders, bombmothersploter, etc. kill each other. Israel is going to bomb syria soon. and US will bomb next iran. Then peace on earth and hell full of all those idolatrers.
56. ok I admit it: i started this whole thing
confession ,   usa   (09.01.06)
I am a jew and i started al queada. i actually started the killing between Sunni and Shiit, also. Furthermore, i am responsible for the Holocaust. Oh yea, i incited muslims over cartoons. I am the reason the french hate jews and why nobody likes the french. 9/11 that was me. My best was the Jesus thing. That one even surprised me. Kofi Annan and the UN, Amnesty International, well that was another Jew. Al Jazeera a diiferent jew but we own it.

AS GEN.PATTON SAID WHEN ASKED WHAT HE WOULD DO IF TRAPPED BETWEEN THE GERMAN AND RUSSIAN ARMIES "I WOULD ATTACK IN BOTH DIRECTIONS" BOTH HEZBOLLAH AND AL_QUEDA ARE COMMITED ENEMIES OF ISRAEL AND AMERICA

Tam Highplace ,   Prince George, USA   (09.06.06)
Appeasement is not the answer to the bullying tactics of the evil muslim community; a strong deterrent is. When the West, primarily the USA, displayed its strength in its development of hi-tech weaponry, and refused to cow-tow to the Soviets, the 'Curtain' crumbled. Israel must continue to show its determination to Exist in a world awash in the surrender malaise. Can you imagine what could have happened in beautiful Lebanon if the Israelies would have unleased their bridled fury? In the valley of the blind, the one-eyed jack is King.
