5. 12,000 does add up, Saul
Steve G ,   Kew Gardens,NYC   (08.28.06)
12,000 is not an unreasonable number for buildings damaged. The Hezbollah rockets were loaded with ball bearings which cause destruction over a wide area. One rocket can cause serious damge to a number of buildings with thousands of flying objects radiating out from the warhead. Unfortunately, with the weak public relations capabilites of the Israeli government and media, only people in Israel will know of this damage. The world's media will continue to ignore the story because Israel is not telling it.
6. #3 Saul from Melborne
Meggie A ,   Israel   (08.28.06)
This total includes damage not direct hits only. Damage by scrapnel and fire cause by hot scrapnel, ball bearings in the rockets etc. If a house or other establishment suffered a direct hit,,,wouldn't the ones around also be damaged. Dont need much working out.

They should be responsible for the acts of terrorists on their land.
8. #3, do you know what a katyusha rocket is?
Marc   (08.28.06)
When katyusha rockets explode they send hundreds of pieces of shrapnel flying at high speed in all directions. In many cases, particularly with the longer range ones, they create a huge fire ball.
9. 12,000
edgar ,   MA, USA   (08.29.06)
The number plainly refers to any damage, be it one cracked window pane or complete devastation. Numerically most of the buildings probably suffered minor damge. Statistics can be misleading. Note that 2,000 buildings and apartments, many of which could be in a single building, were destroyed. That figure probably more reflects the general public perception of rocket damage.
