3. Kosher
Brad S. ,   Riverdale, NY   (08.29.06)
I was also wondering if they are kosher. I would bet the store will not be kosher because they will not likely be closed for Shabbos. Too bad!
4. Support Israeli economy
N ,   USA   (08.29.06)
Who cares if it's kosher or not . it is about time to sell superb Israeli products to the general public and support Israeli economy, instead of being stuck with this label in tiny kosher sections of the supermarkets
5. Kosher
Steve M. ,   Washington DC   (08.29.06)
If the store is not kosher, it will not be a success. Period and end of story. Business-wise, you cannot spit in the eye of your most likely customers and expect to succeed. Chaval that this place may not have the self-respect to be certified kosher.
6. Don't know about US...
yerushalmi ,   jerusalem   (08.29.06)
but in israel, max brenner chocolates are kosher, but with chalav nochri, except kasher le pesach, which are mehadrin. Most shops are not since they are open on shabat. But their pesach kashrut is, if I remember correctley, rav landa (or something as strong), so even the most strict can enjoy it. I got a big gift box from my company for pesach few years ago, it was amazing. It included a suckao cup, which is... Well, read for your self... http://sfd.typepad.com/sfd/2004/06/suckao.html They have several shops in australia, and it was sold in US in svereal exclusive chains for years.
7. gift set...
yerushalmi ,   jerusalem   (08.29.06)
it was something like this: http://www.simplygifts.com.au/catalogue/category47/category64/product459 except that there was only dark chocolate, and one cup, but there were several bags of different pralines.
8. not first chocolate cafe in US
rehovot ,   rehovot   (08.29.06)
ever been to ghiradelli in San Francisco? Hot Cocoa, Ice Cream, Other warm and cold chcocolate treats. The venture will only work if it caters to tourists. Tourists will splurge on chocolate heavy items. Regulars may by box or two if chocolate is good or shop is convienent.
9. Still no Cadbury's in Israel!
David ,   Karmiel, Israel   (08.29.06)
Because of Elite's monopoly, we are still deprived of the finest chocolate in the world - Cadbury's! Why?
10. Not kosher
dany ,   jerusalem   (08.29.06)
I was in NY last week and I saw the Max Brenner shop and I saw a lots of not kosher food inside. It is a shame for such an israeli branch to export not kosher food.
11. I HOPE MAX BRENNER DOES WELL IN THE U.S.
DEBRA ,   USA   (08.29.06)
12. Cadbury????
Habib ,   New York, NY   (08.29.06)
I personally would not rate Cadbury as the finest chocolate in the world - have you ever tasted fine chocolates from the country where Oded learned his craft? It was France, not England. Max Brenner chocolates are indeed excellent, I purchased the last two remaing packages on an El AL flight from TA to NYC recently. And although it doesn't matter to me personally, they can be both excellent and Kosher. The bottom line is that its good to eat and its good for Israel's economy. Let's all commit to eat atleast one packeage a week per YNET reader.

Cadbury the most refined? Have you tried Swiss chocolate?
14. Max Brenner in Harrods London
surbitonite ,   Kingston upon Thames   (08.29.06)
I've eaten delicious Max Brenner chocolate at The Chocolate Bar on second floor of Harrods in Knightsbridge, London. This was a couple of years ago so don't know if still there. And all the wrapped bars for sale were kosher with hechshers. Good luck to him in NYC!
15. Kosher
Shlomo ,   USA   (08.29.06)
It would be foolish not to be certified kosher, from a business point of view as kosher consumers are big food spenders. Los Angeles has a kosher, hotdog stand type, restaurant that is cerified by an orthodox Rabbi that is opened on Shabbat with a mashgiach tmidi.
16. Kosher
Ronit ,   Sydney, Australia   (08.30.06)
It is kosher in Sydney, where there are at least 3 stores. I believe they are open on Shabbat though-but the food etc is all kosher.
17. # 9 Cadburry ???
charles ,   petyach tikva   (12.30.06)
No chocolate , pralines neither , can compete the quality and taste of the Belgian Cote d'or , Godiva or even Leonidas . To say cadburry's is the best can be if you have never tasted TRUE chocolate .
18. cadbury's are horrible!
feliz chocoholic   (08.23.08)
We get a Cadbury gift box every xmas and their stuff is horrible! I prefer dark Israeli chocolate and swiss chocolate is great!
