We, as in that section of the public, that has an interest in the Middle East, and who have not been, invenomated with Ismalic sponsored anti Isreali hatrage, ahev been blessed with two startling, but rare admissions from among the leaders of the mislead Arab masses in recent days. First came the admission by spokesman for the Hamas government that Palistinians need to accept at least some responsibility for their self imposed chaos, especially in the wake of the Isreali withdrawal form Gaza. Then came the stuning piece of candor by this man, who alluded to the fact that Arab leaders have been robbing their own people for years. Of course, notthing is prtticularyl new here, as there have always been self criticism among a people with a few good men. It is the few good men that are often the source of the needed introspection, that is often critical for real progress to take place. What makes this a big thing among the arabs ingeneral and the Palistinians in particular, is the fact that they have so few of the good men. Good men, with the ideas and foresight needed to effect positive change, are never in large suply to begin with. Even so, the Arabs and Palistian populations, seemed to have a particularly low number, even by world standards. Afterall, these societies, are so burdned down by their ideology of hate and violence, that it is one is almost tempeted to believing that hate and violence is their only product of export, apart from oil!

James ,   Glasgow, Scotland   (08.29.06)
The differences in religion are too great for any coming together Spiritually, but, under law that guarantees freedom of thought, belief, and doing, there is hope that these differences may not be allowed to interfere in the lives of any. We call that democracy. If only all Islamists wanted that as we who have it, cherish it, the world would indeed be a better place. Not a Godlier place, just a better place.

Hussein's grandfather was assassinated because he wanted peace with Israel. Reluctantly Hussein was drawn into wars against Israel that he never wanted and Jordan has certainly benefitted from the mutual co-operation between the two nations ever since. Hassan is only doing what he has been brought up to do and that is respect everyone that deserves it. Of course his family has always recognised that Jordan in part was once included in the land that God granted to the Israelites. Perhaps that's one of the reasons that Jordan never whines for the Westbank to be returned. Don't know that he is a great man. He certainly is a sensible one.

46. a few comments
yosseff ,   seattle   (08.29.06)
a. religion is most and foremost a way to control the uneducated masses, usually being used in order to foment wars. it ranks high at the top with nationalism. remove both and get a rational world. and a rational world will be a peaceful one. b. prince hassan is truly one of a kind. actually this entire kingdom is great. the people in israel should be more aware of their co.structive policies, such as integrating the palestinian refugees as equal citizens, for civility's sake.
47. to #46: rebuttals
Mike ,   Atlanta, USA   (08.29.06)
a. See the history of Leninism for one outcome and the demise of anarchists during the Spanish Civil War for the other. On the other hand, maybe you meant the rational planning of kibbutzim in Israeli society or the reverence for education in the Jewish religion. b. Price Hassan is truly one of a kind! You said it, not me. Do you imply that the rest of the Arabs are sick, terror-oriented, death mongers?

That arab govts./dictators are still stealing $$$ billions from their " people " is nothing new. They have been robbing them since day one..Unlike europeans who got rid of their corrupt monarchs by sending them to the " GUILLOTINE " ( the french ) , the arabs are to lazy, stupid, illiterate to follow suit. To get fed with hatred, murder (including their own) is easyier for for them to digest than living a good, honest, productive live.

51. Hassan truly a Prince - and one who loves his own people
Karen R ,   USA   (08.31.06)
Prince Hassan has said it out loud and clear. He loves his own people and is not afraid to tell the truth for the sake of saving them from the leaders who are cynically using anti-Israel propaganda to foster illusions and keep themselves in power. How many hospitals and schools could have been built with the money Hizbullah spent preparing for the last war? How much support for agriculture and industry could have been accomplished with all the money Arab leaders wasted on the wars of the last thirty years? May Prince Hassan continue to serve his people - and all the peoples of the Middle East - for many, many years.
52. When did he say this?
Huldah ,   UK   (08.31.06)
The text of Prince Hassan's speech is on his website. I cannot find where he said the things that are reported in this article. Can someone tell me when and where he said it?
