1. Journalists
Ben Hur ,   Manhattan, USA   (08.29.06)
These people don't report the news, they make the news. The New York Times bureau chief also said that Israelis "were not interested in whether 1,000 Lebanese civilians needed to die," adding that the question of "whether Israel fought a proportional war is not much of interest here (in Israel)." Right, there's no bias in the MSM
2. Journalists blame Israel
Rabbi Jerome Abrams ,   New York, USA   (08.29.06)
The self serving press marches on. So what's new. Just venting
3. 'free to say what we like'
NL ,   Israel   (08.29.06)
Wrong Mr. Simon Wood of ABC. Journalists are free to report the truth, not 'what we like' aka what they would like to be the truth. Perhaps if journalists cleared up that little but important distinction, then there would be the 'integrity' that these journalists purportedly desire.
4. Perfidious Press
Nali ,   jacksonville, fl   (08.29.06)
To say that "Israelis did not care whether 1,000 Lebanes needed to die" is idiotic at best. Would that be so, civilian deaths would have been in the 10s of thousands.
5. Cherry-picking stories
(08.29.06)
"The New York Time's Jerusalem Bureau Chief, Steven Erlanger, expressed surprise that Israel's view of the war was different to that of its critics, and said that Israelis didn't "quite grasp how the war was perceived outside of Israel."" And he made sure how the war was perceived outside of Israel by cherry-picking the story he liked others to hear: "Erlanger told the panel he turned down an offer by the IDF Spokesperson Unit to gain access to IDF efforts aimed at enabling humanitarian aid to reach Lebanon, saying he was not interested in the story." Yupe. Not biased at all.
6. Damn Jews
Mike ,   Toronto   (08.29.06)
Don't you know that it is our fault that the mainstream media lies about us and that they are biased. Just like we made those nice Germans act mean toward us in the 30's and 40's.
7. Wot about Hez. threatening journalists for filming rockets?
(08.29.06)
8. NY Slimes should be kicked out of Israel AND USA
Jenny ,   USA   (08.29.06)
They are a danger to our national security adn will be a danger to yours. KICK THEM OUT!
9. THE GREEN HELMET!!!!
JK ,   Dallas, TX   (08.29.06)
Look on the guy on the picture on the frontpage about the article - the Green Helmet!!! He is on almost all pictures THAT ARE STAGED! LIARS 2.0.
10. The Ny Times and Erlanger...........
Bill Pearlman ,   Chicago   (08.29.06)
Steven Erlanger is increedibly biased against Israel. He wrote a book review for the Sunday paper a few weeks ago that was venomous in its anti Israel bias. The fact that the Times still has somebody in a spot like this with an agenda is proof that they are no longer the paper of record and have sunk to an extrememly low level. Witness the story that revealed the tracking of terrorist financial transactions.
11. Steven Erlanger- Is this guy Jewish?
Elle   (08.29.06)
He has been working against the state of Israel for many years now. Yet Israel allows him to remain in it's own country and allows him to undermine it through his biased stories. The NY Times has gone south a very long way. This guy makes Thomas Friedman look like an Israeli patriot.
12. Steven Erlanger-exposed

13. What a crock of #@$%
Ryan ,   Calgary, Canada   (08.29.06)
Do these people ever think that reporting live coverage and battlefield positions could jeopardize soldiers as well as themselves if they are embedded within the units. Have some common sense. If I were general, after reading the bull$hit and onesided reporting being done, I would of locked them all up, and told them it was for there own good, until the war is over. Or just say "wars that way" we aren't protecting you, start walking.
14. Papparazzi
Dr D ,   Jerusalem   (08.29.06)
Bunch of ruthless paparazzi hunting for scoops. They are ready to die for showing some blood on their report but they are never there to help to prevent violence. In the contrary some time they pay someone to stage a situation. Hypocrites!!! Dr D
15. GLOBAL Jihadists BENT on WORLD DOMINATION
Linda Rivera ,   New York   (08.29.06)
The media war against the Jewish state NEVER stops. Lebanon's government colluded with Hizbullah in unprovoked, vicious acts of war against Israel. Lebanese army radars were used to lock in Israeli targets for Hizbullah missile crews. YNETNEWS (08.12.06, 16:52) Siniora accepts deal, praises Hizbullah ...steadfastness of resistance fighters in field was very important,' http://www.ynetnews.com/articles/0,7340,L-3290107,00.html Islamists lie about the number of civilians wounded and killed. Photo Fraud in Lebanon Aish.com's new movie:http://www.aish.com/movies/JP/PhotoFraud.asp Israel warned Qana residents repeatedly via leaflets and radio to leave the area - 150 rockets were launched from Qana - these rockets killed 18 Israelis and wounded hundreds. Less numbers of Israelis got killed than Lebanese because Israel does not immorally use Israeli civilians as human shields. Israel protected her citizens - over one million Israelis lived for one month in bomb shelters. Israel's third largest city Haifa, was under regular rocket barrage. Iran's guerrilla army Hizbullah rained down over 4,000 rockets on Israeli population centers. The rockets packed with ball bearings to maximize the suffering of Israeli victims. Iran's terrorist army Hizbullah committed war crimes using Lebanese civilians as human shields to protect rocket launching teams - setting up rockets and other weapons in apartment blocks, schools and mosques. Embedded in densely populated civilian areas, Hizbullah despicably shoot from inside mosques, hospitals and schools in south Lebanon. Images show Hizbullah using high-density residential areas to launch rockets: http://www.news.com.au/heraldsun/story/0,,19955774-5007220,00.html Global jihadists Hizbullah's goal is the murder of every Jew on earth. On October 22, 2002 Hizbullah's leader Nasrallah told Lebanon's Daily Star: "If they (Jews) all gather in Israel, it will save us the trouble of going after them worldwide." The purpose of the PLO as enshrined in its charter is the destruction of Israel. PLO terrorists were implanted into Israel through Oslo "peace" accords. The Hamas Charter states: "Israel, by virtue of its being Jewish and of having a Jewish population, defies Islam and the Muslims... Israel will exist and will continue to exist until Islam will obliterate it, just as it obliterated others before it..." Iran proclaim repeatedly they intend to destroy America and wipe Israel off the map. Iran is dangerously close in achieving nuclear capability to execute their genocidal goal. Hamas and Iran's terrorist army Hizbullah, fully trained and armed with the most advanced sophisticated military equipment fight Iran's war against Israel and the free world. The ultimate goal is the entire world subjugated under Islamist rulers. Surrounded by 22 huge, hostile Arab nations, tiny Israel's battle for survival is a fight for freedom and human rights for all nations.
16. Erlanger: proportionality's 'not much of interest' in Israel
Flavio ,   Sao Paulo, SP   (08.29.06)
He expected Israelis to be much more interested in proportionality throughout the conflict...Sorry, Mr Erlanger, for Israel had some other priorities by then, for instance, wiping out rocket launchers that were aimed at cities and towns, destroying Hizballah strongholds hidden behind human shields and givin some relief for more than 1 million people in the Galil who had to spend weeks in a row inside underground bunker, withstanding a heat of more than 35ºC and worrying whether they'd find their houses back or a pile of rubble instead. You see, Mr Erlanger, while you were busy making sophisticated analysis on ethics and behaviour on war, Israel was fighting it...
17. These Journalists Should Go To Hell
Adina Kutnicki ,   US   (08.29.06)
Erlanger should just go to hell. Plain and simple.
18. Erlanger wasn't interested
Steve ,   USA   (08.29.06)
"Erlanger told the panel he turned down an offer by the IDF Spokesperson Unit to gain access to IDF efforts aimed at enabling humanitarian aid to reach Lebanon, saying he was not interested in the story." That's nice. Erlanger complains about the lack of "proportionality" during the war. Hundreds of thousands of German and Japanese civilians were killed by allied fire bombings and nuclear bombings during WWII. What would New York Times' correspondent Erlanger have done (journalistically) to the allies lack of proportionality during the second world war? I wonder.
19. He lamented the lack of "proportionality" - what nonsense !
michael ,   tel aviv & london   (08.29.06)
war is not some game of ping pong! Did the allies use "proportionality" in Germany at the end ot the war ? Did America use "proportionality" against Japan - the Europeans in Kosova ? Is Israel supposed to say, 'ah, four kassams today that equals one artillery shell'. Sick joke !!
20. Someone, please Israel...
(08.29.06)
I cannot believe that these "journalists" are allowed free acces in Israel. Al Jazeerah??? NYT?? CNN??? BBC?? These slimy organizations are reponsible for 99% of the bad press we are getting!!! Wht the f^^&&&^^ck are they allowed to be here causing irrepairable damage to my safety??
21. Quiz: Gang of killers shoot you, what you do?
Voice of Truth ,   The Planet   (08.29.06)
The Answer: I'm going to ask CNN what I can do and where it is more convenient to put their cameras. At the same time I didn't hear word from feminists talking of millions muslim kids dead in Arab counries due to clitoris cutting - it is saint stuff, tss... Hello Ladies, where are you?
22. truly astonishing
phil ,   usa   (08.29.06)
how does a nation at war allow journalists to fly in and out of its country, go to the front, permit reports about its military strategy and deployment, accept icredible bias against it AND THEN ALLOW THESE PEOPLE TO CONGREGATE INSIDE THE COUNTRY AFTERWARDS TO BLAST THE VERY COUNTRY THAT PERMITTED THIS?! Israeli Arabs and international journalists must start playing by Israel's rules, not the other way around. Of course, this is only relevant if the government gets a spine.
23. Pure Cover-up fromn the NY Lies
malcolm   (08.29.06)
Just go to Little Green Footballs and see all the faked photos and videos. From a faked rocketing of a Red Cross vehicle that NY Times editors signed off on to Green Helmet Guy and dozens of other stills and videos. They nailed Orla Guerin of BBC for shamless anti Israel propoganda.
24. only hezbollah cared about israeli civilian deaths
ezra ,   us   (08.29.06)
they tried to maximize them...
25. Interest in the Lebanese victims
Sher   (08.29.06)
I can confirm that there was absolutely no interest shown by the Israeli media in Lebanese casualties. There was interest in convincing the public that the army was minimizing them by dropping flyers asking residents to leave before bombings. But no debate at all about the morality of such a high casualty rate or the flattening of half of Lebanon..
26. NYT RECEIVES MONEY FROM ARAB COUNTRIES !!
(08.29.06)
27. Farrell Mumbo Gumbo
dave ,   NYC   (08.30.06)
"I'm not sure I like the allegation that it's local staff who are unreliable. Over the last few years we've seen… apparently respectable, white western American, British, everybody… being sacked and disgraced… integrity is integrity is integrity, whether it's Arab, Israeli, or western." "Pictures have been faked as long as there have been pictures," Farrell, we are talking here about Arab and Western media deliberately faking videos and photographs to intentionally make Israel appear evil. To cover this up you jumble Israel into your gumbo to make it seem like "hey, man, everybody's doin it, even you guys" instead of doing some serious analysis of each and every case. Do you loathe Little Green Footballs so much that you won't examine their evidence. Will you allow your profession to sink so low because you are afraid to really examine the facts or as Nessman whitewashes .." everyone's working very hard. Everybody is tired. Everybody is overworked." Meanwhile, all you care about is a scorecard of dead people. I suppose if there had been more dead Israelis there MIGHT be more sympathy. Do you want scorecards with real disproportions? Go to Darfur or Chechnya.
28. What Baised Coverage that Press Offers
Steve ,   USA   (08.30.06)
B"H When the statement is: "Al-Jazeera tried to keep good balance in covering this war," Omary said. ... we all know that "tried" is different from succeeded. I would not put two sheckels on these claims of non-bias. It is plain and obvious from their reporting. Of course Israel is not to be concerned with enemy deaths during a war! It is a war, and they need to be concerned about their territory that was under attack, their own back yard! I have never seen that sort of concern consistenly reported on other channels outside Israel. I gave up on that sort of biased coverage a long time ago.
29. ny times
pete silbering ,   westalke village, ca   (08.30.06)
Israel and the IDF were NOT responsible for the negative coverage by the media during this latest conflict. The NY Times in particular never condemned nor asked for an audience with Nastralla. I believe the BBC is simply anti-Semetic and therefore anti-Israel and nothing you will do can help that. The US and world media have limited access and are cencered by the military in Iraq and Afganistan. They don't complain about that. War is ugly and given the opportunity they would have made the results of this past conflict worse than the actually are. Please remember both the LA and New York Times printed as fact the ficticous "Jenin massacre" and that was used by Muslim world a proof of genocide. Pete Silbering.
30. That is why smart viewing of the truth lies..
Ari ,   Jerusalem   (08.30.06)
between what media sources are reporting! The best way to get the truth is to read the media locally and from abroad and even from your enemy side just to make sure that you can conclude the absolute truth that usually lies somewhere in the middle!
