1. Peretz must go!
Patrick ,   Paris France   (08.30.06)
Living in France, I haven't had the honour to enlist in Tsahal. Thus, I have already restraint myself to criticize the governement of Israel. But now, I am more than ever convinced that Peretz is a miserable man who he is hurting Israel. This dangerous fool must go as soon as possible.

5. "Turn war into peace opportunity?"
steve ,   USA   (08.30.06)
Mr. Peretz said: "Today the big test for Israel's government is the chance to turn the war into a peace opportunity despite the overall feeling of complete violence taking over every area in the Middle East." "We mustn't sink into despair and hopelessness. On the contrary, we must do everything (to) start developing talks and negotiations with the Palestinians, the Lebanese and in time with the Syrians." Isn't this idea on the part of the Defense Minister Orwellian? "Orwellian" means introducing words whose meanings are in opposition to their denotative meanings. Isn't this despair and hopelessness at best? Or its worst? Despairing of victory; that short of negotiating with enemies who are dedicated to our annihilation, there is no hope?
6. Request for American Jews
Itzik ,   Haifa   (08.30.06)
Can you just find money to buy villas for Olmert and Peretz, like you did for Barak, so they don't have to rule in Israel and worry that they will end up like Sharon's family? Help them, friends! These 2 are not PM material, may be managing a supermarket but not PM in Israel.
7. Peretz is right!
Asylum Aleikum   (08.31.06)
Sharon's lackey Mofaz must resign as well.

11. The three stooges
Arie ,   Afula   (08.31.06)
With their repeated acquiesence to terror demands, they made us look weak, resulting in the kidnappings. Time for new brave forward thinking leadership. The olmert/peretz/peres team of incompetents have no place atthe helm of our great ship!
12. The clock on Kadima is politicking away.
LEE ,   NY, USA   (08.31.06)
13. 12 Well Lee these were my thoughts a long time ago..
freedom ,   canada   (08.31.06)
I could not figure for the life of me how the Israeli populace could be so blind in their election of the left leaning Kadima party. I guess I was right..lol... anyways.. it seems almost universal that Paretz, Olmert, Livni and all the rest must go. Maybe Israelis finally understand the seriousness of the situations in Gaza and in Lebanon.. Yes, these people really want to evict you from Israel proper. And yes, its entirely possible youll be fighting another war to protect your democracy in the near future. And in a perverted way, we have Hizbullah to thank for this as the Israeli political leadership has been shown to be what it is.. Now Knesset opposition show your stuff, boot them out in a vote of non confidence and rebuild Israeli self confidence, respect and prestige.

16. Revolving Prime Ministers
Dave Levi ,   Burbank. USA   (08.31.06)
Israel it is known, has a penchant for dislodging Prime Ministers after every war. Let's face it, war is not simple to conduct. There are mistakes ( by everyone). Hezbollah will learn from this crisis too. Israel was not destroyed. It faced far more deadly adversaries in 48, 67 and 73, even with Dayan, etc. Peretz is right. The period prior to his tenure allowed for most of the problems with Hezbollah. Israel has been, and is still, a banana republic, without real independence, no matter it's denials. The US pulls the strings, and Israel's PM dance to our tune., that is if they want those cluster bombs, and F15s. Re: Villas...lets not fly speck using nonsense.
17. This man is a real idiot
Andy   (08.31.06)
18. Since you admit not having experience
Jakob ,   USA   (08.31.06)
Dear Peretz, Since you admit not having experience in a position that is so critical to the survival of Israel how come you pushed so hard for this position? Your behavior and statements in this war made it very obvious that you are an amateur that didn’t even know how much you don’t know (if you understand this) Please don’t blame others for a job that you selected to undertake and are not capable of doing. It is not your fault; you’re just not cut for this job, please do Israel a favor, resign and go do something that will not endanger people lives. Jakob
19. You and your predecessor have the same policies idiot.

20. 3 stooges vs the 7 dwarfs
Ronnbo   (08.31.06)
Lets not forget the rest of the security cabinet!
21. Lunatic Defense Minister
Jerry ,   NYC, USA   (08.31.06)
The people he wants to give the land to want to cut his throat, and he is in denial because he acts based on false dreams than on reality. Extremely Dangerous. He will get millions of Israelis killed. Remove him now, before it's too late.
22. Peretz is incompetent
Uri ,   Boston, MA   (08.31.06)
he says he wants to strengthen the weak and incompetent -- first resign and then seek treatment for your moral and intellectual incompetence Is this speech as turgid in Hebrew as in English? It reads like pure bolshevik tommy-rot and claptrap.
23. Peretz and mofaz go to hell, make room for MK Eldad!
(08.31.06)
24. Armando PERETZ the 1st
Rosa   (08.31.06)
"I too am willing to be inquired, want to be inquired and ask to be inquired," he said And I am saying that before being inquired on his part in the Lebanon War Omissions, as the Minister of Defence -- Peretz must be inquired and interrogated on his part in emptying the Histadruth Old Pension Funds !!!
25. exactly what a Histadrut rep would say.
shelly ,   israel   (08.31.06)
26. job application's rules.... aplly to him
Yoel   (08.31.06)
When I apply for a job, I'm obliged to convince my future boss I will be the best for that job. Peretz had just to show he was from the Labor Party, and got the Defense Minister's position. Whatever he was able to do, it wasn't taken into account. Now, he showed he was not the right person for that job, and he should leave it to someone who knows more about defense than him. I don't have any personal grief, but I think it only deals with common interests that have to be prior to personal interests (rules of Torach Tsibur). Now, the israeli Nation has been exposed to a great danger, and we have to take care for Israel prior to an individual as Olmert or Peretz....
27. How does he think WE feel? we inherited HIM!
aaron ,   ra'anana   (08.31.06)
28. TURN WAR INTO PEACE OPPORTUNITY ?! THIS GUY IS A MORON !
(08.31.06)
29. Peretz should never have been offered or taken the job
Esther ,   Tel Aviv   (08.31.06)
Olmert had the responsbility of finding a defense minister that could protect Israel. Peretz had the responsibility to not accept a job he is too inexperienced and incompetent to handle. Olmert offered the job, Peretz took it. Both failed to meet their responsiblities, both put their egos and political ambitions ahead of the needs of Israel. Both need to be ousted from office.
30. Olmert: Israel's Jimmy Carter
Sam ,   New York City   (08.31.06)
America had its Grand Idiotollah in Jimmy Carter. We are still paying the price for his incompetenced and stupidity, i.e. allowing Khomeini to take over Iran. Israel has Olmert, who is just as bad. I pray that Israel is not paying the price for Olmert and his political hack Peretz for many years to come. Israel can't afford such incompetence.
