1. this guy: Let us wait for another war
Itzik ,   Haifa   (09.02.06)
You see Kadima has a lot of cash. So this guy is trying to save Olmert-Livni-Peretz. He has no idea what these three people will do in the next 6 months. Are we supposed to wait for another war which will come in 6 months and then get rid of these guys?
2. Your are NONSENSE!
Mark Bellm ,   USA   (09.02.06)
Settlers and "right wingers" do NOT welcome violence with a "I told you so" mentality. Because of where settlers live, they are often victims of this violence you claim "they welcome." Your analysis is pure NONSENSE and PROPAGANDA!
3. Bibi and Bogie more competent than Olmert and Peretz, BY FAR
Gary Jacobs ,   san diego   (09.02.06)
GET OVER YOURSELF GUY! Most people want peace, but there will be only the end of Israel through weakness. Did Bibi not capitulate at the Wye River Accords? IS THIS ARTICLE A JOKE? It seems to be devoid of adequate rashional thought. Operation Defensive Shield should have been the model for this war. If you say there are any 2 people more deserving of second chances in Israel than Bibi and Bogie, I'd say, YOU'RE CRAZY! I have seen Bibi speak of autonomy for the arabs, and he has proven that he will succomb to pressure. Hopefully his backbone will hold up a little stronger this time and Israel gets the deal it deserves. This author needs to step back and see the light from a more rational angle. Btw... Bibi's economic plan is not perfect, but it sure is a major reason Israel's economy had come back to life. The following govts obviously took too much from the defense budget!
4. Yet another Leftist moron
Sharona ,   Ofakim   (09.02.06)
5. EXCELLENT article
Michael Steiner   (09.02.06)
You hit the nail right on the head throughout your piece. Of course, be prepared for a flood of "Arab lover" and "self-hater" type of comment, mostly from people who--unlike you--have NOT immigrated to Israel. Shavua tov.
6. SSSSOOOOOOOOOO wrong
pepita ,   haifa   (09.03.06)
Does the shameful left have any shame left?? Are they going to get less antisemitic one day, or do i only have dream about it ? DEAR LEFT:::::ORANGE IS A MAJORITY
7. pathetic

gabriela Ben ari   (09.03.06)
10. Mr Steiner #5
Jon ,   Oz   (09.03.06)
So far you are 100% wrong in your prediction. Do you think you could possibly be wrong about other things as well?
11. you a Historian????
Yisraeli   (09.03.06)
Frankly your article is full of verbal bullshit and thats to put it mildly. Call yourself an historian but I call you a pitiful joke. Practically every sentence is so flawed that one cant be bothered to comment on. I hate to say this and perhaps unfair, but you coming from the Netherlands not so long ago might be the cause. Why cant you lefties just grow up already?
12. Military reality
Bill Pearlman ,   Chicago, USA   (09.03.06)
Lebanon an Gaza were test cases, and actually worthy efforts. But the result is in. Israel simply cannot allow an eastern threat that is allied with Iran. If you put rockets up on the west bank ridge line the rest of the country becomes untenable. Can air operations be carried ou from a base under constant atack. The game is over. An Iranian allied entity overlooking the population centers would be insane. And for this aurhor to compare Hezbollah and Hamas to the Israeli right wing is more than a little insulting. The knitted kippa wearers are the back bone of the combat units.
13. It's Not Right Versus Left. It's Sane Versus Insane
Ken ,   Canada   (09.03.06)
Dror Bar-On thinks right thinkers are doing something wrong by pointing out they were correct all along about the disastrous path of appeasement. The consequences of Israel's withdrawls from Southern Lebanon and Gaza are plain for all to see. Enormous increases in terror, rockets on many of Israel's major cities and the growing confidence among terrorists that they will win. THIS IS NOT A SANE PATH FOR ISRAEL. It is not even a question of left versus right. It is a question of sane versus insane. In his final paragraph, Dror Bar-On admits more wars are coming. Why, in the name of sanity, would he want to withdrawl further to put all of Israel in the range of terrorist rockets. "unilateral withdrawl", "land for peace", giving guns to terrorists... these are insane actions. The early Labour Party, when it was still Zionist (and hadn't yet gone nuts) would never have agreed to any of this suicidal idiocy.
14. Ignoring Reality
Kyle ,   Southpark, CO, USA   (09.03.06)
How exactly is Israel better off today than before the unilateral disengagement from Gaza? How exactly did completely withdrawing from Lebanon six years ago (therefore, no lame excuse of "occupation") create an environment for peace? Olmert and Kadima FAILED miserably, both with the disengagement and in fighting the war THEY CAUSED as a result. They have to go.
15. Thank you YNET we need to know this
Ilan ,   Ariel   (09.03.06)
The Palestinians, Islamic fundamentalists and their quislings here in Israel are the greatest threat to Israel's security. Thank you for letting us hear their opinions so that we are properly warned of their plans. Dror Bar-On is a perfect example of Israel's fifth column, Tibi couldn't have put it any better.
16. The left is on a high speed to disaster, dont take anyone
JB ,   NJ   (09.03.06)
17. well.....................
mark ,   usa   (09.03.06)
what you said makes a lot of sense, except for those narrow minded,heart-hate-filled israelis who don't see in front of their noses let alone what goes around in the world.i can't wait till the day israel wakes up and sheds off that retro/settlers mentality that destroyed that country.keep that weak mentality and the end is very, very, very near.
18. Why haters like him even move to Israel is a mystery to me
Sue ,   Israel   (09.03.06)
Is the reason he made aliya to bad-mouth his fellow Jewish brothers and sisters? Who needs him here anyway? He would fit in much better back home in Holland with his Anti Israel cronies. Go back to where you came from Yonathan Dror Bar-On...we have enough self haters in this country, we don't need your kind over here!
19. #13 (Ken) - very well put, couldn't have said it better
Rachel Webber ,   USA   (09.03.06)
20. HAHAHA, BAR-ON A ****HISTORIAN**** LOL
gabriela ben ari ,   jerusalem   (09.03.06)
Dear pitifull crap, get a shrink and fast. If the right, which, as its name indicates: is right, keeps saying "I've told u so", thus proving what an incredible disaster the retreat from Lebanon and pinui Gaza have been, how comes u admit (and is bothered by ) it prooved devastating, and then go on stating what big success, evacuating settlers has been. I'm puzzled That u and left couldnt care any less that the Neguev would become daily attacked under heavy fire *as orange warned u*, and that u couldnt care less that leaving Lebanon 6 years ago *was* suicidal, does not mean that the right have the same murderous wishes for am israel as you have and stated it clearly albeit implicitly. And with this I also wonder why Ynet could still participate in yet another disgusting antisemite -to-the-core article. Dear Bar -On god for nothing, take a hike and cool down, Amsterdam waits for u back. Bon Voyage
21. Dror On and all similar tavlinim
TapuZeena ,   not Basel(icum)   (09.03.06)
Read this mornings Times UK. They report that we/Israel now sees how wrong it was to concentrate on Gaza. What a childish article, your crowd need to leave the latte and get real. What we're really facing in comparison to this silly article is mind boggling. READ IT. Then keep quiet if you have nothing except kindergarten level(babyish orange drivel etc) to offer.
22. the left will never admit to reality
aaron ,   ra'anana   (09.03.06)
23. Dror BarOn is a brilliant analyst; I fully endorse his ideas
Neville Chamberlain ,   London UK   (09.03.06)
24. From where does Ynet find all these selfhating degenerates?
Dudu ,   Kfar Sava   (09.03.06)
25. Dror is right, shameless orange mass tends to use...
Boris ,   Haifa   (09.03.06)
... to use anything - including the burial of one's brother (do you remember?) to promote their political interests. Which have nothing common with peace, but are rather symmetrical to those of Hamas - yes, guys, it's sad but true. However, the article is a bit poor in factography, and this allows orange "morons" (citation from Sharona #4) to spread their speculations.
26. An excellent article - listen to this guy
Karen R ,   USA   (09.03.06)
27. MICROCOSM
LEE ,   NY, USA   (09.03.06)
This author is the microcosm of the Israel's problems today. He is so self-hating that you can detect his detestment towards his brothers more than his aversion towards his enemies. Words like "their narrow political goals" and "extremists" are just substitutes for intellegent arguments. They are used when one has no real substance to his attacks. The Orange crowd has not only taken the brunt of the leftist suicidal policies from those who sit safe in Tel Aviv while their brothers are at the front lines, but they have been the only ones that demonstrate their genuine concern for their country. The problem is that this author is aggravated that they have become more "Zionist" then him, that true idealism and love of Israel is now clearly their scepter, leaving him with empty unrealistic dreams of dancing and hopscotching with those who are educated in murder and suicidal "martyrdom" against anything that smells of Jewishness. This author is just simply a disgrace to the name he bears. The Yonathan that I'm familiar with understood what his great friend David stood for and what the nation stood for and is probably shaking the heavens when he sees his name being sullied by such a self-hater. The Yonathan that we all know would have been standing alongside David adorned in Orange and singing "Am hanetzach lo mefached mi'derech arooka!"
28. shamefull
david ,   gush etzion   (09.04.06)
reading this article,i get same feeling i get from sophisticated jew haters in europe.Very slickly written and making everyone believe that their believe is in the name of the weak and the socalled peace lovers, meanwhile spewing hate and division.I grew up in holland and know this kind of misguided soul. There is a jewish liberal paper in holland that in its political correctness,is very damaging to us here in Israel. So better he stays here among his friends were he sooner or later has to see that in the eyes of the world we are all jews.He already has forgotten hitler who destroyed my and probal;y his family in auschwitz and sobibor without asking them if they were religious or not, left or right. He killed us all(including1.5million children.)and the same will happen again this time by moslim nazis.Sadly we have not learned from our history, because if we keep our torah and see ourselfs as one nation our enemies would have no change.I hope and pray that yonathan can open up his heart and embrace the fact that it is a miracle that we are here in israel in the first place. If he can look past the politics,he will see that we are all bound by the same destiny, from which he can not escape.I have no choice no matter how much his words hurt me,to embrace him as a fellow jew.We can agree to disagree we already have enough people hating us ,so lets try to respect each other
29. LOL
Secular Sabra ,   Israel   (09.05.06)
Somebody said Orange was the majority !!! Where exactly ? In the Knesset ? :o) Inside the country ?? :o) The only place Orange is the majority is inside the USA and our Wild West Bank. They make up less than 10% of the Israeli population . Only way to change that is for you hate filled American religious messianic madmen to come live here like the rest of us .... but you won't because you love you're soft safe lives in the diaspora :o)
