1. Disgraceful
Aharon   (09.02.06)
To think that these people who hate Israel so much represent our religion... How disgraceful. These people are no better than Muslim extremists.

4.  this violent gang is dangerous
debra ,   usa   (09.02.06)
this violence has been going on for two years and no one has been brought to trial by the prosecutor. it's dangerous to let this violent gang continue. what kind of decent jews act like this toward fellow jews. they are a criminal element in their community.
5. OK - let me get this straight.....
Andy   (09.02.06)
One Haridi group is terrorizing another Haridi group for being involved citizens of the Jewish State of Israel. And the police know who these people are, and are not revoking their citizenship and deporting them - since, according to their own philosophy, they think a Jewish State is Chilul Ha'shem. I say treat terrorists like terrorists regardless of whether they are Jews or Arabs - and regardless of whether their victims are Jews or Arabs.
6. Sounds like commies
Andy ,   Frisco, USA   (09.02.06)
They sound like left-wing Hashomer Hazair who beat up kids in schools who do not belong to the far left.
7. THEY ARE JEWISH HAMAS - KICK EM OUT !!

8. arrest those bastards and that's all

9. 'Sicarii' intimidate Jerusalem's haredim
Theo Ghefner ,   Toronto Canada   (09.02.06)
Even if I'm not a supporter of the haredim, I wonder according to which part of the Thora the 'Sicarii' are acting, and if that's God work they're doing. The best punishment for them will be to serve in the IDF, if Kipa Sruga can, they can do it as well.
10. VIOLENT TENDENCIES OVERCOME EVEN THE RIGHTEOUS - BEWARE
DAVID P. ,   SANTA CRUZ, USA   (09.02.06)
JUST BECAUSE A PERSON IS RELIGIOUS DOES NOT MEAN THEY CANNOT BE OVERCOME BY THE THRILL'S THEY GET FROM FROM VIOLENCE, THIS RUSH WHICH IS A MIXTURE OF ADRENELIN AND CONSIOUSNESS WORKS AS A DRUG, USED IMPROPERLY IT FUELS THESE ATTACKS AND MAKES A PERSON MORE LIKELY TO REPEAT THEIR ACTIONS FOR PLEASURE RATHER THEN DUTY
11. Nothing New
Michael ,   Mass. USA   (09.02.06)
For the past 30 years and longer since I have visited Isarel, the government has deliberately failed to crack down on these guys. Over the years there have beeen many incidents....from cars inadvertantly driving through the nieghborhoods on shabbat to unfortunate woman not attired properly resulting in stone throwing...to collaboration with PLO members, and other incidents. Politics in Israel is politics and we understand that these people have been tolerated for various reasons not the least of which, relatively speaking is not the biggest problem facing the Jewish State.
12. Where are the police?
Sigfried S. Kuhn ,   Aberdeen Md.   (09.02.06)
The last time I looked, physical attacks and harrassment are crimes. Where are the police? Why haven't these insane criminals been locked up? There is no reason that innocent people should be terrorized in their own community by these nuts.
13. Israel's Hizbullah
Eli ,   Israel   (09.02.06)
Sound familiar? A state within a state? A group of religious fanatics using force and brutality to get their way? This is Israel's Hizbullah and no on in the relgious establishment has enough courage (or sense) to put an end to it. And of course the police either don't care or are incompetent. Terror reigns in Jerusalem.
14. Are there a Police in Jerusalem?
Keren ,   Sao Paulo   (09.02.06)
Or is the Jerusalem's Police(payed from public money) one of those kinds of 5th world style, that only functions against the whole public interest ,but on behalf of those who enrich their pockets? I mean corrupted.I mean mafious. How can Israel function properly with such a system? Haredis in general are not to be blamed but the apparently dirty political system.
15. Neighborhood residents walk rapidly to their destination
cookie ,   mea shearim   (09.02.06)
ummmm... not quite, mr. sela. although you'd like to dramatize your articles, that just isn't the case.
16. Experet on Jews Sela
Itzik ,   Haifa   (09.02.06)
This article is a joke. Nothing ralated to reality. Just for intertainment. Enjoy.
17. THEY ARE ANTI-SEMETIC. LOL

18. Insanity
Larry ,   Raanana   (09.02.06)
Tell me again why we continue to support the Haredi cults. Isn't it about time that us Jews say "Never Again". Why must we live in fear of these cults? We must stop paying for them to study torah and to have children. If this behavior is how they interpret the torah, then there is definiotely something wrong
19. # 18 Larry
Keren ,   Sao Paulo   (09.03.06)
You should not generalize. 20 or 30 criminals did these acts;they are not all Haredim. Haredim are human beings as you and me,maybe better ,since they strive all the time for a much meaninfull life, and I don't think they practice "cults". And studying Torah and having children,in my opinion,is something good, although I agree-again,my opinion from here in Brasil-they should compromise in serving the country they live in,the same as all other Israelis do.
20. to #6
Dave ,   Herzliya   (09.03.06)
what the hell are you talking about?? How many instances of this have happened. Why do diaspora Jewry feel the need to become the most militant members of the israeli political camp of their choice and spread hate towards everybody else.
21. An article like this one about Arabs or Homosexuals
Kyle ,   Southpark, CO, USA   (09.03.06)
Would get the author assassinated by the YNet "sicarii"
22. #18
RW ,   Jerusalem   (09.03.06)
You basing your hatred of the entire Chareidi community because of 30 people (at most)? Really mature of you... What of the non-religious kids accross the street from me doing drugs? I think we need to cut off any funds going to the secular since they misuse it. See how silly that sounds?
23. #22 True, but...
Aharon   (09.03.06)
Secular families work for their money instead of leeching it from the government.

Methinks thou protesteth too much...What's REALLY bugging you? Something closer to home maybe?
25. Talmudistan
Chaim ,   Jerusalem   (09.03.06)
No surprise here. Totally crazy fundamentalist violence is the norm for these folks. US readers might identify them with being Amish people, really angry, violent Amish people.
26. criminals
mo ,   ny   (09.03.06)
this article should have kept it's focus on criminals. that would have been for the public good. by making about charedim, some of whom are criminals, it is encouraging hatred. which several talkbackers could not help themselves from joining in. stop hatred. arrest criminals; secular or religious.
27. Okay by me, as long as they...
Dorothy Friend ,   Tel Aviv   (09.04.06)
...stick to their own community. I don't want them telling me what I should do in mine, and am willing to let them control their own turf.
28. #23 - learn before you speak
Shlomi ,   Holon   (09.04.06)
These nutters in don't take a dime from the government. Satmar, Toldos Aharon - in fact the entire Eda Haredit with no exceptions. Neturei Karta (the "Sicarii") would rather die than take a penny from the "Zionist State". So the ones who "leech" as you put it are not the ones being talking about in the article...
29. 300,000 haredim in Israel, between 6-30 sicarii...
Soffer ,   Jerusalem   (09.04.06)
30. # 29 correction
(09.04.06)
In jerualem alone 300,000 hareidi, throughout the country, some 600,000 at least
