YOU JUST DON'T GET IT DO YOU? LIKE YOU SAY 3 TIMES YOU GET BEATEN UP. STILL WE ASK YOU - NO BEG YOU - FOR PEACE. ITS NOT ABOUT SELF RESPECT. ITS ABOUT HUMANITY. 4. To Wissam #2
Andy ,   Israel   (09.03.06)
Firstly we have not destroyed your country. You know damn well if you live in Beirut that the target of our attacks was the Hizbollah enclave which is only a tiny proportion of the whole city. In the South most Christian villages were untouched, and most of the rest of the country was uninvolved. There may be infrastructure damage, but the country has hardly been "destroyed" although it suits your propaganda purposes to say so. Secondly you also know that Israel has never attacked Lebanon just for the hell of it. In the past in was the Palestinians, and this time it was HIzbollah who caused the war, as Nasrallah now admits and regrets. Israel has no argument with the Lebanese government except that they failed to control Hizbollah, but Israel has now given your government the chance to regain sovereignty on all your land, which is in both our interests. As the most modern and western of Arab nations, culturally we have much in common, and peace could be easier to achieve and more prosperous than with any other Arab nation.

6. Let's talk peace
Yohanan ,   Sion / Switzerland   (09.03.06)
Except from some corrupt Arab leaders I hear voices from all over the Arab world saying: 'Peace only in exchange for the recognition of the legitimate right of return of the Palestinian refugees to their native villages and soil.' When will you finally listen to these voices?
7. Not all Lebanese think like wissam
Lebanese   (09.03.06)
The Lebanese people want to live in peace with all their neighbors. I wish the neighbors aim for the same. Salam, shalom.

David ,   Israel   (09.03.06)
Why can't you get it Wissam that Labanon's only chance is peace in general and peace with Israel in special. Your sense of being destroyed 3 times should be first and foremost directed to all of your millitias and terrorist groups you cuddled with for so many years. Then, there is Syria's long tradition of keeping you under their backward, destructive and intransigent boots. How can a country like yours thrive if you yourselves cannot define your own policies ? How can a country like Lebanon succeed if your Christian majority has been constantly thinned by the fundamentalist Islamists into a minority ? How can your country be credible if you can do nothing but blame Israel for all the misfortunes befallen onto you by the hands of your Moslem brothers ? The list could go on, but the idea is for you and your country to finally wake up and accept a helping hand. If you continue looking up at the likes of Hezbolla, you will never ever be able to become a country among countries.
9. Israel is living a dream
Sami   (09.03.06)
The person from Lebanon is as clear as PM of Lebanon who said loud and clear that Lebanon will be the lst country to sign a peace accord with Israel. Do not talk about christian Lebanese because a great deal of them are against Israel. Also to claim that isarel only hit Hizbollah targets is an absolute lie and one look at the newly released map that shows areas hit shows this fact. The vast majority of the Lebanese killed were civilians and I am sure you saw some of the most horrible photos of babies and women cut in half by Israeli bombs. Yes the majority of those civilians are Shitte but christians in the north and sunnis is the south were also killed. This war brought more hatred to Isarel. I do not personally agree with Hizbollah and several Lebanese that I know are not in favour of Hizbollah but by far they are against Israel and what it represents as a country breeding on occupation, killing, and stealing land. In the name of security you have been occupying and killing, This did not bring peace and will never bring peace till you end your occupation of Palestine, south lebanon, and Golan heights. By then, you will be received with open arms in each and every Arab capital. Your choice, more war or calculated peace.
10. You can't make peace with puppets
Efi ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (09.03.06)
Lebanon is not even a real country. You can't make peace with a fake entity run by puppets on a string.

Bechor   (09.03.06)
It is clear that you, unlike some other people who leave comments, simply seek peace. However, you are thinking in a very logical and Western mentality. You truly think that this conflict is about land? You think tht at Syrians and Palestinians would leave Israel is peace and welcome Jews into their countries? The truth is that the Arab hatred of Jews is rooted in much more than a little bit of land. The Palestinians have had ENDLESS chances to have their own land, and yet they always return to killing Jews. Oslo, camp david, and the unilateral withdrawal. What did we get from it? The truth is that the arabs HATE us, and it has nothing to do with land.

14. to #2, wissam, what an idiot
(09.03.06)
your PM has to beg Hezb'Allah to let him go to the toialet, and ask permittion of Assad to blink at our way, that's when he's not cring his heart out to Arab leaders without even daring to spell Assad's name, and our PM doesn't have self respect?! I'll try to remember that next time Assad shuts the power down in response to Senyra being notti.
15. OLMERT IS A WHOLE DUMB
Lebanese ,   Lebanon   (09.03.06)
after what happened in last month ,you are a lunatic to think about such a thing to happen cause we Lebanese will not allow him or any other politic to talk peace with you olmert. If this suggestion was done before all this happened we could accept it if it was real & if your IDF left Shebaa & freed our prisoners.but your problem israelis that during last 6 years all Lebanese told you to do that you didn't cause you thought that you are stronger & you can do whatever you want & if there will be a peace it will be as you want, but when your ass was kicked you started pray UN to give the 1701 resolution & now you are praying for peace at the time when 12 july stupid olmert told another different things
16. OLMERT YOU ARE THE #1 SHAME OF ISRAEL. GO !

17. Question to Sami
Ilya ,   Israel   (09.03.06)
Hi Sami On year 2000 Israel withdrew from Lebanon to internationally recognizes border This July Lebanon (in face of Hizbollah) attacked Israel - killed 8 solders and kidnappeed 2. Did Israel have right to fight back at all? Could any kind of fighting back be legitimate in your eyes? If yes, please specify how. Hizbollah rockets killed more than 100 Israeli civilians. They did target town & villages - not solders that were much closer. Does Hisbollah represents as an organization "breeding on killing"?
18. What an insult and how pathetic
Ilan ,   Ariel   (09.03.06)
If peace with Lebanon was possible then Israel should have never gone to war over the hostages, and if our military response was justified then what self-respecting leader would grovel like Olmert. His pending political demise is all he can consider.
19. Reply to #1. Call for peace
George Hatem ,   Lebanon   (09.03.06)
No need to call Bin Laden... Bin Laden is a US pupit and his address is somewhere in New York. Muslim extremists are the tool US and Israel use to show the world the image they want them to see. No wonder how Mossad is helping Bin Laden and Zarqawi groups in Iraq.. Don't you agree?

Adonis ,   Lebanon   (09.03.06)
Just to correct some facts: 1-In 2000, the zionist regime withdraw under the powerfull resistance of Hizb but did not leave all lebanese lands (still shib3a and kfarshouba, did not let all lebanese prisoners, and did not give mine maps. 2- Since 2000, the zionist regime depassed more than 10000 times the blu line (IAF, clashes, kidnapping, explosions, etc.). So El Hizb has the right to reply. 3 - The killed civilain of the zionist regime were less than 40 (as your regime state) and more than 100 IDF were killed. However, more than 1000 lebanese civilian were killed. The rockets send by Hizb were just response to your civilian attacks. SO it is a reaction. For your last question, I think you know very well who is the "breeding on killing" organization.

Are you really sure your understanding is not distorted by a blinding ideological outlook on the question of Arab hatred?
24. To Adonis
Ilya ,   Israel   (09.03.06)
Hi Adonis, Thanks for you corrections. I can't agree with all of them, but that's not the point for me now. I'm trying to understand your (lebanees in general) opinion to Israel's right to fight. Please answer these 2 questions: 1.Did Israel have right to fight at all? 2.Could any kind of fighting be legitimate in your eyes? If yes, please specify how. If you think that Israel doesn't have right to exist - ignore these quesions

You are right on target by stating Israel withdrew from Southern Lebanon in 2000 but you dropped 3 unfinsihed business that not only Hizbollah was after but all L:ebanese people: 1) Israel, for some stupid reson, did not withdraw from a small strip of southern Lebanon ( Shabaa farms and another area ) ! Why ? Why would any one give legal claims for Hizbollah to bear arms ? Hizbollah always insisted that his weapons will be used to liberate Shabba farms. As an Israeli, why did you allow your politicians keep occupying this tiny part? Some will argue that i might be Syrian land not Lebanese ! Well, who cares? If I left all of the south, why would I keep such a window for war open? 2) Lebanese have been asking for 6 years to get the detailed maps of the Isareli mines/bombs planted by the Israeli army prior to leaving south Lebanon in 2000. Give me a reason why wouldnt Israel give the maps to Lebanon or UN ? 6 years and Israel did not take action. 3) Hizbollah, and the Lebanese government, have been asking the UN and Israel since 2000 to get their prisoners back. If Israel wnats to keep the Lebanese prisoners till they die in jail, then this is a policy that i do not understand. Hizbollah had set 3 conditions to lay down his arms ( before the war and during the national Lebanese discussion between rival Lebanese parties ). his 3 conditions are the ones mentioned above. May be I do not understand politics, but if I was in any Israeli governement, I will surely have fulfilled all of the 3 things becasue I will be buying calm, peace , and security for Israel and Israelis living in the north. Does israel lose any thing for doing this? absolutely not. One last thing: almost 50% of the 100 Israelis killed were soldiers. Over 95% of the 1200 Lebanese killed were innocenet civilians. Do not tell me that Hizbollah was hiding weapons between buildings. This could bebtrue in isolated cases but you wont justify killing hundreds of civilians in their cars ( not buildings ). If Hizbollah thinks of doing any thing stupid after the 3 conditions are taken care of, then it is easy for the Israeli army to occupay the south again and never leave it.

Greetings. You seem to also have an open mentality and your aim at the end of all of this is to find ways for peace. I am nor expert but I am almost sure that the current or previous foreign minister of Syria talked clearly about full peace in return for withdrawal from golan heights and some arrangement similar to that with Egypt regarding having no Syrian arms on the Israeli-Syrian borders after ending the occupation. For me, this is the ultimate solution that can be guarantteed by NATO and EU. Any Israeli refusal means refusing peace to the ISraelis themselves before then Arabs. As for Palestinains, support for peace went up and down during the days of Arafat. When Arafat returned to GAza and West Bank, almost 80% were totally supportive of the two states solution. Things went bad because both sides did stupid things to undermine the peace process. I did some personal research, or close follow up, on who provokes calm and peace between Palestinians and Israelis. I only checked American and European media. In the vast majority of cases, ISRAEL was behind the provokation by targeting militant Palestinians and the claim is always the same: wanted terrorist or the militants were preparing to execute a suicide attack inside Israel. So killing militants in a car driving in the middle of a crowded Palestinian city like Gaza , killing all of them, and killing several other innocent civilains walking in the same area is a way to gain any type of sympathy. As a result, it seems Palestinains reached a conclusion that a moderate movement like Arafat's party along with independent Palestinains were voted out of power by Hamas because people lost hope. I am not trying to portray Palestinians as 100% innocenet. It is not the case because some breed on more violence. But if you see the entire picture that an entire nation is sufferring from occupation, stealing of land, building the wall inside their land, targeted killing, imprisonment of over 10,000 Palestinains.. how do you think they will react? Extremists on both sides will run out of business if there is true peace between Palestinians and Israelis. We let them run the show for many years. It is time we take over and end this craziness.

I only believe in fighting for justice and defense. So your IOF and not IDF war against Lebanon and Palestine are not justified. For the existence of Israel, no one can deny the existence of your regime but the notion of state is questionable in term of the definition of state and the way the zionist regime has existed and still living. If you wont to live between the arab country, you should first show some peacefull act (and not some lies). For us, your state can exist as any other country, i.e. a democratic israel/jew state with all the right resreved to both population. http://www.one-democratic-state.org/ When you accept this, you will find the majority of the arab with (exept the fanatics muslim and zionist from your part). For all moderated muslims and arabs, their is no problem with jews. We just have to defend our land, children, history againts the zionist ideology. Shalom, salam

you make 3 points: I will address them in the order of importance that We see them: 1) 'lebanese prisoners', if you mean Samir Quntar who murdered a # of Israelis including an infant with the but of his rifle. In any normal country he should have gotten a death penalty. I think that even you will agree, that he does not deserve to see fredom, and that his crime is unforgivable for muslems, christians or jews. 2) Israel has always offered to give the mine feild maps after the lebanese army accepts control of the international boarder. It is unacceptable situation that a neigboring country enables its citizens to do as they like directly affecting a region without taking responsibility for these actions. Could you imagine or show me another region in the world were this is tollerated or considered acceptable. 3) The Shabaa farms were taken from Syria, that controlled them in 1967, The UN recognized Israels full withdrawl from Lebanon in 2000. If you want Peace, look in the mirror, and see what you can do. It is evident that atleast you are interested in dialogue. Ask youself in which of the 22 arab countries, or better of the worlds 140+ countries would a 'Saint' like Quntar be still alive living of the taxpayers? Shalom, Shalom but there is no Shalom. May we live in better times, your cousin from the south, Avi
