1. calamity that FDR didn't do more, BUT
dante   (09.04.06)
FDR knew about the war against the Jews and could have interferred directly with that war. he did not do that and he lied about his abdication. at the same time, he was far ahead of most Americans and Europeans in his understanding of the stakes in the war. he saw to it that Britain and the USSR had the material support that allowed them to fight prior to and subsequent to the American entry into the war. were it not for FDR, it is hard to see how the Germans could have been defeated. [Rosen's apology for FDR is foolish and is, it would seem, completely oblivious to the active, determined, antisemitism of some of some members of his administration; his castigation of critics as antisemites, anti-Zionists, etc. is patently false.]
2. so what if only a "few people" asked FDR to bomb
Paola ,   uk   (09.04.06)
what difference does it make if only a few people asked FDR to bomb the camps? the administration had broad intelligence about what was happening and had unique knowledge about the American ability to interrupt it. did the American president have to be bidden to intervene by people with less knowledge of critical facts, especially while those petitioners were being warned that criticism of the administration would delay ultimate victory over the Germans and, so, would be inimical to the interests of European Jewry?
3. Mr. Rosen, who payed you for those lie
Tomas ,   Usa   (09.05.06)
I as a son of the Auschwitz survivor, the only one from family of 12. I researched the jews suffering fom many years. In US and also in Czechoslovakia. FDR and NY Times both deceived US public from middle of 1943. I am not on the left and I amalso veteran of IDF. My only conclusion is that Mr. Rosen was payed a lot of money by main stream democrats and apologists for FDR. IN my family book FDR was as good antisemite as most of the Europe.
4. Any thing is possible
lisa ,   london   (09.05.06)
Roosavelt MAY have been an anti -semite, who knows what is in any ones heart , just like Nixon who was caught on tape Bat mouthing the Jews with his so called Spiritual advisor. Most of American presidents DON`T like jews and only support them for their money and vote. Jewish people are not dum ( most intelligent ) and they know it. Just like you use them to keep your interest .
6. distortion of historical facts
alan ,   frisco   (09.05.06)
Rosen is apparently unaware that from 1942, both Roosevelt and Churchill were aware of the mass murder at Auschwitz and did nothing but write a memo to cover their behinds when historians would investigate. By the spring of 1944-- before 450,000 Hungarian Jews were slaughtered, many at the camps--- both the British and the Americans had the photo intel to bomb the biggest camp. The job would have taken less than .3% of the bomber command. Numerous bombing raids were made over Auschwitz to hit industrial targets. Many airmen were interviewed who knew the area like the back of their hands and are convinced the bombing would have hit the crematoriums where 10,000 Jews a day were burned. Either B25s, B19s, or P 38s could have done the job. Rosen is one of those deluded hard core Dems who want to preserve the power of the Dems at the expense of historical truth.
7. Rosen Shmosen
Leon ,   Grand Rapids U S A   (09.05.06)
Betcha he's a Democratic apologist...uncomfortable with the truth, and substituting political ideology for Judaism. WTF?
8. Both parties to blame
Frank Dorado ,   Baton Rouge, La   (09.06.06)
FDR was given the choice of OIL for the US military or save the Jews. Meanwhile Nelson Rockefeller was selling Oil to Hitler prior and thru out WWII. And helped Nazis escape to the US and South America. For his efforts of treason, Rockefeller became the Vice President under G. Ford in the 70's. The US and UK are only friendly to Jews and Israel when it doesn't involve money or Oil.
9. What about the train tracks?
J ,   chicago   (09.09.06)
At the very least, they could have bombed the train tracks, roads and bridges that led to the camps. To say they did not know what to do or what was going on would mean that the Allies were dumb - which is wrong. The information the Allies gathered and their war plans enabled them to defeat the Nazis. The English had a great spy network as did the U.S. They were able to come together and coordinate one of the biggest invasions in history - D-Day. Their priorities were landing on Normandy and capturing the Germans. Jews were incidental. Their involvement in the war only occurred after England wouldn't join Germany and was bombed. The U.S. joined after Pearl Harbor. If they cared what was happening to the Jews, they would have joined the war much sooner. Look what happened in the Conga- genocide took place there too. The world did not respond. So basically the book is pointless. If the author wants to believe that the FDR hands were tied by a few letters from groups that had no sway with FDR, he must address the fact the FDR also ignored reports about the dangers that Nazi Germany presented from very highly regarded sources. FDR/U.S. had their own priorities when they finally entered the war. Call a spade a spade and move on.
10. # 9 You're close, but still off
Michael A. Gold ,   El Paso, Tx   (09.10.06)
read the book; 'The Secret Wars against the Jews' by J Lotus and M Aarons. The real truth. It was about OIL, Money and Power.
