in the us if a horse does not make the money, some are put down for the insurance many. others are given free for rehab,to beacome jumpers or school horses. in israel people do not have the money or the space, or the know how to rehab them. how many will be put down? horses are a gift from G-d
2. Racetrack
Joe ,   Afula   (09.04.06)
What idiocy! This racetrack will only bring organized creime in the form of sleazy hotels, pubs, drug attics, prostitues and the dregs of Israel to one of our last treasured spots of natural beauty in Israel. Dani Attar is destroying the Jezreel Valley with this plan. Simply look at what hippodromes have done to neighborhoods in the USA. Nothing but the Mafia follows horseracing.

I am currently visiting Israel and have had a lifelong interest in horse racing and harness racing. Have met with officials of Off-track betting people at many tracks in area and have suggestions for them how to increase interest in the betting society. Just so you dn't think I am just a crank, I am an adjunct professor of journalism at Temple University in Phila. and have worked as a sportswriter for the Philadelphia Imquirer for 32 years, covering horse racing at one time.I turned down an offer to manage a site three years ago. There is nothing wrong with horse racing IF it is done right. Look at the town of Saratoga In the usa. It has a racing tradition 2 centuries old. True betting is a recent innovation, but horses are indeed well cared for. Keepibg the horses healthy is the key. Just this past season in Saratoga the races were actually cancelled for one day when the heat and humidity was to much. Health is the key to make it work. Thank You erikbeale@yahoo.com

Dear Joe: High!! Erik from New York here. While th horse racing industry isn't always on the up and up to put it mildly,It doesn't have to mena the things your're afraid of either. I go to Saratoga in the summer and I can assure you it is a VERY respectable town indeed, Granted there were crininal types in the 2o's but the town police and citizens did a remarkable job of throwing them out. Saratoga is indeed conservative to say the least. Thank You erikbeale@yahoo.com

erik beale ,   NYC USA   (07.11.11)
Dear Elona I live in New York and go to Saratoga in the summer if I can afford it. The things you mentioned DON'T have to be if the legislation is written right. Check Saratoga out someday and you might be surprised. Thank You erikbeale@yahoo.com
16. Racetrack
Erik Beale ,   NYC USA   (07.11.11)
Dear Joe: It doesn't have to be that way. I go to Saratoga when I can and the town is conservative to say the least. Criminals have come here but they"ve been thrwon out when they stayed to long. Legislation is the key. Give it a try sometime if you're ever in New York. Thank You erikbeale@yahoo.com
