3. Outrageous - Must Turn the Other Cheek
Scott Neuman ,   Okemos, MI   (09.06.06)
The position that the multinational soldiers should defend themselves if they are attacked by Hizballah is illogical and disproportionate. Each soldier should pray for deliverance and try to encourage Hizballah to be merciful. Only then will the terrorists realize that when we turn the other cheek it is easier for them to cut off our heads.
4. To #hanina: EU doesnt consider Hezboallah terrorist.
Hezboallah spokesman ,   Court   (09.06.06)
The Italian leaders Hezboallah wont be listed on European Unions terrorist list. So Italy is not on your side. Watch the Video
5. There's some sense here.
Knave Dave ,   Honolulu, Hawaii, US   (09.06.06)
This approach to Iran could work, if the UN will do it. Sanctions won't stop Iran's nuclear development. But impose sanctions first. When Iran does not respond with dismantling the heavy water plant, etc., the U.N. needs to tell Iran that U.N. FORCES will blow up the power plant if Iran continues. If either Israel or the U.S. blows up the plant, everything will blow up in the M.E.; but Iran is not going to fight a war with the U.N. So, maybe it will dismantle the plant. If it doesn't, the U.N. needs to follow through and dismantle it for them from the air. That's probably the only path that would avoid a world war. (And Israel may need to let the U.N. know that, if the U.N. doesn't steer this hard course, Israel will, which will most likely mean world war on a level much greater than the war on terror.)

Sir world war is already upon us and every other nation on this planet. Remember, there are many fronts to war and not all include bullets and tanks.
7. Violence Begets Violence
Scott Neuman ,   Okemos, MI   (09.07.06)
The Multi National Force is a PEACE KEEPING force. How can peace keepers use violence by defending themselves from terrorist attacks. There is a better way. One must talk and persuade. Perhaps, offer them a refreshment. If necessary loan them money at low interest rates with an easy payment plan. Anything but returning violence with violence. Perhaps, if they kill and injure enough peace keepers Hizbollah will tire of this endeavor and find something else to do. They might want to become painters or stamp collectors. The key is to given them non violent alternatives.

I think it won't take a long for italy before know who are the good people and who is the bad one, lebanese were always good host for the UNIFEL, Israel always attacked them and the civilians at the same time. I hope the italians will shoot if they got attacked, i hope they will shot towards the israeli, shoot to kill.

fadi ,   lebanon   (09.07.06)
if israel attacked UN troops by mistake like the 12 air raids around the UN post during the war with the last one a direct hit to the post that led to killing of 4 number Un troops.... by the way till now they are still searching for the remains of the Austrian casualty as the rocket hit him directly !!!!! Well we are all ears to wait for the reply of the italian ambassador for this question !
12. # 11 And my what if...
Maria Hernandez ,   Baton Rouge, USA   (09.07.06)
And what would happen if all the Jihadists, terrorists, and assorted Islamic thugs actually got jobs, loved their wives and children, and tried to live in harmony with the rest of us? Including JEWS!!! I guess you wouldn't be able to make any more "what if" questions would you?

So they shouldn't defend themselves, then how can they maintain a peacekeeping force if they are all dead??? As for offering them some refreshments, what the hell do you expect someone to do when they are being shot at? Walk out in the open with a pitcher of iced tea and offer the terrorists some? You clearly have no idea about what you are talking about.

works just fine with me ... can we start it immediately ...... i am a big supporter of love... my new slogan would be " make love not war " and you Maria will be the start point of this international renaissance :) What the hell does ur reply have to do with my comments... they are not interalated at all ... was my comment too much as it shos how israeli forces were even targeting UN troops in soith lebanon .... I do not think that Austrians, French or chinese troops come even to 1% of the looks of hizbollah fighters so that probably some five star general from israel would say " oooooops we made a mistake and thought they hizbollah fighters" . If you can not even accept crticism then i think its 'little' bit difficult for us to accept killing of civilians !

The EU considers Hizbollah as a terrorist group. It was decided so last year by the European parliament. A different matter is that three countries opposed to include it in the list of terror organizations. They did it for business reasons. Italy did't oppose to include them in the list. http://www.ynetnews.com/articles/0,7340,L-3056692,00.html
21. To #14 to #7 - You are a violent person
Scott Neuman ,   Okemos, USA   (09.08.06)
Two wrongs never make a right. Yes, Ice Tea, (without sugar because that can make the terrorist hyper) is a possible altenative. Terrorists are also humans. They have feelings. Sure they are angry and overly agressive. This is because they are like dogs trained from an early age to fight in dog fights. Loving kindness is the key. If some type of restraint from agressive behavior is necessary, how about giving the terrorist a time out, say 15 minutes. Or even better ask the terrorist to close his eyes and count to ten. In no time we will be able to turn terrorists into productive members of society. This is the true role of a peace keeper.
22. 11 - I see what you are saying but I fixed the delivery
(09.09.06)
What if Hizbollah hides near UN outposts and shoot katushas into Isreal? Should Israel return fire? Yup. If the UN is going to be complicit in allowing terrorist acts to ensue, then Israel should see no moral or legal quandry in returning fire. The UN peace-keeping force, theoretically, should not be touchy feely tree huggers to learn about Hizbollah's feelings and anger - But to make sure there is no fire across the border Why not watch Israel you say? Good question. And the answer is obvious (No, the UN isn't controlled by a secret organization of Jews...) Israel wont fire into Lebanon unless Hizbollah provokes it. Now, I suspect provokation will come swiftly since the UN wishes to correct its 'historic mistake' (their words not mine) concerning Israel. We just gotta wait and see.
