61. #51 MOMENTARY PEACE WHEN CONVENIENT IN EXCHANGE FOR LAND?
DAVID P ,   SANTA CRUZ, USA   (09.11.06)
YOU MEAN THAT WHEN THE ARABS DO COME AROUND AND SEE THAT FOR THE MOMENT ITS FINANCIALY AND SOCIALY BENEFICIAL TO MAKE PEACE WITH ISRAEL, WE SHOULD THEN EXCHANGE LAND FOR A TENATIVE PEACE AGREEMENT? WHAT ABOUT THE THOUSANDS OF JEWS SCATTERED THROUGHOUT ISRAELI TOWNS AND CITIES ON THE WEST BANK? ISRAEL CAN'T EVEN RELOCATE THE 8,000EVACUTAED CITIZENS FROM GAZA WHAT MAKES YOU THINK THAT MOVING 60,000 MORE JEWS OUT OF THERE HOMES IS THE ANSWER. WHY CREATE YET ANOTHER ARAB STATE, MADE UP OF ARABS WITH THE SAME BLOOD LINE AND HERITAGE AS JORDANIANS, EGYTIANS, SYRIANS, LEBANESE AND EVERY OTHER NATION STATE RECENTLY DRAWN UP BY ENGLAND. DON'T LOOSE SITE OF WHAT THIS IS ABOUT, AND WHAT THE ARABS GOALS ARE, AND THAT IS TO SQEEZE US OUT, EVERY INCH OF LAND WE GIVE THEM, THEY'LL USE TO DRIVE US CLOSER INTO THE SEA. I TOO WOULD LIKE TO LIVE IN PEACE, BUT THE INTENTIONS BEHIND THE PEACE MUST BE GENUINE WHERE THE FOUNDATION IS TO LIVE IN HARMONY, NOT TO GET A STEP CLOSER TO DRIVING US OUT.

Mike ,   Atlanta, USA   (09.11.06)
Your amateurism, which you admit, reveals at least two assumptions that you need to justify, in order to make your arguments stick: 1. You question whether Israel can expel Arabs and "still be seen by the world as a democracy." Your view implies that Israel relies on world governments, most critically through its "democratic" trappings. You need to argue this point, as it is not self-evident. 2. You believe that Israeli Arabs "contribute so much to Israel, which you do not seem to recognise." You imply that YOU do recognize their contributions, and so you should state them briefly in summary, because they too, are not self-evident.

"Roughly speaking"means roughly speaking!Your english is better than mine to understand words' precision. "Roughly" speaking doesn't mean "scientificaly" speaking. I read, few weeks ago, here at Ynet too-GENUINE-,that israeli arabs majority supported Hisbollah actions against Israel.Did you read it? Of course they prefer to live in Israel;they are not fools! But let's see HOW is their sentiment and behavior towards Jews. This is the most important. To make Jews unhappy in their own home doesn't seem a good thing to me. So...who is correct in all these matter?

Adam ,   Manchester   (09.11.06)
I will answer 2 as i have only a few minutes..... A lot of their labour actually helped build Israel whilst the Jew's imagination and industry created it. Arabs play for the national sports teams. 3 or 4 goals out of the World Cup qualifiers actually clinched crucial draws/victories from Ireland/France/ Switzerland. Israeli Arabs have risen to become high profile lawyers/judges/MKs. Druze Israeli Arabs serve in the IDF and consider it an honour to do so. They are not forced even though the Jewish state doesnt expect Arab 'brother' to fight against Arab 'brother'.... they have a pride and patriotism that isnt seen in some Jewish/Israeli refusenik counterparts and critics of Israel - Mr Chomsky please stand up! These people (Jews) who criticise Israel (without real justfication in many of their arguements) and the IDF Jewish 'refuseniks' who go 'on tour' internationally critising Israel and the IDF are far more damaging than some Arabs living in a poor village outside Nazareth who should be'deprvied of their right to vote' or even be 'kicked out of the country'!

I admit I am an amateur which you and a couple of others have latched onto but which of us are professional historiands/columnists?
66. Adam #64
Mike ,   Atlanta, USA   (09.11.06)
Thanks for the clarifications. I doubt that Eitam has problems with Druze. I don't recall any of the "right" wing calling for the explusion of Druze. But I don't live in Israel nor can I keep up with each event. Your example of the soccer team amuses me, because it specifies only handfuls of people. The high profile MKs are the subject of the article...we want them expelled. As far as jurists are concerned, I simply don't accept your claims that they work with/alongside Israeli Jews. Do not bring up refuseniks for this discussion. Whatever we may think of them, the subject now is expelling Arabs. We do not need to make moral comparisons to Jews. We need merely ask whether or not Israeli Arabs struggle against the Jews.

Mike ,   Atlanta, USA   (09.11.06)
Rather than call you names, I prefer to credit you with honest intentions and an inquiring mind. Your incompetence as a historian merely clarifies your starting point and opens up dialog.
68. YOUR QUITE RIGHT ... ' THOSE ARABS ARE TOO SOFT'
fadi ,   lebanon   (09.11.06)
WE WILL REPLACE THEM WITH FRESH HIZBULLAH WELL TRAINED AND RAISED ARAB FIGHTERS :)

But finally it was said by a leader of the Right. Good for you, Eitan.
70. #61, POPULATION SHIFTS OCCUR DUE TO DROUGHT, FAMINE & WAR
DAVID P. ,   SANTA CRUZ, USA   (09.11.06)
WHICH DO YOU THINK WILL COME FIRST? WOULD YOU MAKE PREPARATIONS FOR EITHER OR ANY OF THESE, OR WOULD YOU ALLOW EVERYTHING TO REMAIN STATUS QUO? IN EITHER CASE IS IT WISE TO BE PROACTIVE OR REACTIVE?
71. 67 ISRAELI ARABS ARE UNITED W/GREATER ARAB WORLD IN STRUGGLE
DAVID P ,   SANTA CRUZ, USA   (09.11.06)
THERE IS NO QUESTION THAT THEIR GOALS AND DESIRES ARE TO ONE DAY LIBERATE WHAT THEY SEE AS ARAB LAND. THE ISRAELI ARABS, ESPECIALLY MINISTERS IN THE KNESSET, WANT TO SEE THE LAND RULED BY ARABS WHERE BY THEY STILL CAN HAVE ACCESS TO EVERYTHING WESTERN. THIS HOWEVER IS A FANTASY BECAUSE IF ISRAEL EVER FELL UNDER ARAB RULE ISRAELI ARABS WOULD BE THE FIRST TO BE PURGED FROM POSITION. DEMONIZED AS COLLABORATORS UNDER ISLAMIC JUSTICE THEY WOULD BE TORTURED AND EXECUTED. BUT HEY, IF THAT'S THEIR GOAL SO BE IT, NO ONE EVER SAID THEY WERE INTELLIGENT, LOGICAL OR REASONABLE.
72. Whats with the Adam bashing?
megan ,   Israel   (09.11.06)
Guess none of you who have answered negetively to Adam's comment has really read it properly. I am not a left winger, but know enough of the country I live in to also know that not only Jews serve in our IDF, Bedoiun and Druze (sword Brigade that suffered causulties in this last war) do some of the hardest jobs. Take note these guys are not Jewish! Do we exile some of our bravest and loyal fighters? NO WAY, these people are part of our country. Now can anyone tell me if there is ONE country in this world that is only of one race, creed or religion?
73. Mike #66
Adam ,   Manchester   (09.11.06)
Last tiem I looked Druze were Arabas. I am glad that my examples brought you some amusement my condescending pseudo intellectual friend. i will bring up refuseniks if I want as their desire to damage Israel can be far greater than any Arab..... Please dont tell me what examples and comparisons to use 'Professor'
74. #67
Adam ,   Manchester   (09.11.06)
Your patronism suggests to me that you are no better than a mere teacher.... Thank you for your 'expert' opinion that I am an 'incompetant historian', I will take it on board(!)
75. No 63
Adam ,   Manchester   (09.11.06)
Roughly speaking statistics are worth the paper they are written, roughly speaking that is...(!) If they perfer to live in Israel now rather than any other Arab state, why conspire to bring it down, surely they would lose all their freedoms.....? Their are enough Jews/Israelis who hate Israel to worry about, and that is by far more disturbing. At the end of the day you and 'Mike' and some other of the respondants are willing to disenfranchise people form the Israeli democratic system, I cannot support this..... You are free to your own opinion

also serve the country, and many do not vote for the MK's Tibi and co. I must also add that many volunteered in the last war, making up food packages for the IDF and people in the north. It isnt right to put all the eggs in one basket, there are good and bad in all, and I would really prefer to see the Nuetrei Karma (or however it is spelt) thrown out. they are more of a danger to Israel, and as they are living in a non existing country, suggest they try somewhere else, like Gaza, where they seem to be happy chatting and giving away what goes on in Israel. And again i am not a lefty.
78. #18 Democracy
Raphael ,   Paris France   (09.11.06)
I would like to complete your historical science and politology knowledge. In France, known as a democracy, the alsatian autonomist leader Carl Roos met in jan 1940 the military attaché at the german embassy in Bern (Switzerland). Coming back to France, he was arrested on the spot, tried next week, sentenced to death on behalf of "intelligence with the enemy", and executed the following week. So, expelling the Neturei Karta or jailing (as death sentence is not legal in Israel) Bishara and Tibi cannot be quoted undemocratic: it is a healthy legal reaction from an independent state towards citizens or inhabitants harming its security.
79. #75 ADAM OF MANCHESTER PLEASE ANSWER QUESTION #70
DAVID P ,   SANTA CRUZ, USA   (09.11.06)
80. LOL @ Adam 74
Mike ,   Atlanta, USA   (09.11.06)
Remember this from #65: "I admit I am an amateur which you and a couple of others have latched onto but which of us are professional historiands/columnists?" Well guess what Adam...I admit that I find your arguments laughable and I'll bet others on here do too. But they don't admit it openly as I do ;-) You and I are two peas in a pod. Oh, and Dumbass, you don't even know what "psuedo intellectual" means. I laugh at you.
81. # 75
Keren ,   Sao Paulo   (09.11.06)
Yes,luckly I am free to give my opinion, and free to reflect ,in order to find the way( only one way ) to be happy, what ,after all,is what all of us seek. Jews,in Israel, must choose what is the best for them. But ,it is them,Jews,to have the priority in choosing ,since we have been waiting to be there,in Israel, for more than 2000 years, and too much suffering has been endured just because we can not ,and we don't want to quit our heritage.
82. To SECULAR Israelis- you will never live in peace
(09.11.06)
Not with your Arab neighbors and not with yourselves, You are totally confused about what is going on- and blinded by the fact that the TRUTH about the Arab nation will is stinging you right in the face and there is no way around it. You have no Idea why you belong in Israel and why fight for it you think the Arabs like you, and hate the religous man only well WAKE UP
