1. The Victim Deserves All Our Support
Reuven Brauner ,   Raanana, Israel   (09.13.06)
But who is the real victim here? We do not even know who this anonymous "A" is? It is worth noting and keeping in mind that in Jewish Law false witnesses are given the same punishment that their "accused" would have received had he been found guilty.

that's the point - he doesn't think there was a woman assaulted here.

what aout when shelly yechimovitch doubts the truthfulness of the defense of katzav despite the fact that the investigation is still in process?
4. Any proof??
Pesach Belfer ,   Rehovot   (09.13.06)
It always amazes me to see that people like Ms Gross automatically assume that the woman is telling the truth. There seems to be some feminist agenda at work here, otherwise why would she object to someone (even as well known as Rav Tau) offering moral support to Mr.Katzav? Would she honestly not do the same for the women in this case?
5. "...people are lynched and physically murdered..."
gerd schulz ,   germany   (09.13.06)
(...) The Katsav case became even nastier this week when a journalist-turned-Labor Party member of parliament, Shelly Yacimovich, said that she had interviewed the woman in question and found her accusations credible. Katsav, in an interview on Israel Radio on Friday, denounced Yacimovich, saying she was acting as judge and jury while the case was still under investigation. "She heard the version of one side and she ... decided that it was enough to hear one side and rule," he said. "I don't know which is worse: when under a nondemocratic regime people are lynched and physically murdered, or a democratic regime, when a person's soul is murdered," Katsav said. http://www.taipeitimes.com/News/world/archives/2006/08/27/2003325066
6. Who cares whether a Rabbi supports him...

What does it change? ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! Very irrelevant story!

Reuven wrote: "It is worth noting that in Jewish Law false witnesses are given the same punishment that their "accused" would have received had he been found guilty." You are correct. Is it not also a point in Jewish law that the accused has a right to face his or her accuser(s)? In this case I understand the woman who accused him of rape is willing to confront him. Mr. Katsav tells the police she has been trying to blackmail him. What's the problem with the police or the Attorney General? Why not allow him to face his accuser or accusers?

It is interesting how all of a sudden Mr.Katzev and Mr.Ramon are accused of sexual harassment, seems to me that there is a witch hunt here! All those who have convicted katzev and ramon before the courts have are suspect of having a political agenda to assasinate the character of these men. I am not saying that they are innocent but will sure not say they are guilty. We have a police dept, an attorney general and courts to determine the truth. Rabbi Tau has the right and is entitled to support whomever he likes till they are proven guilty without criticism from the peanut gallery!
10. I wonder how much the Rabbi was payed
Bechor   (09.13.06)
I wonder how much of a donation President Katsav had to give to this Rabbi in order to gain his support...

she's got enough'' back up'' from every body and every where, you'd better not to be worry ''people'' even don't know her name and never saw her face ( for what kind of protection?) while mr, president's name and face is shown in all the places shamelessly even before any trial and judgment! issued by. any court of law david l.a
