In order for Iran to become a modern state, it must act like one. No modern, advanced, state can call on the destruction of another. If Iran was forward thinking, the would unilaterally engage Israel and the West by taking a position of leadership. Iran will remain a foot-note of history if it continues to act as a crying child victimized by a parent. Modern states act responsibly, not by threatening others with total destruction.

The truth is that Bill Clinton set the stage for the position we now find ourselves in and George W has stupidly followed with a ridiculous performance of his own. The US should have responded massively to 9/11 and actually done what Bush said he would do. 100,000 troops on the ground in Afghanistan to kill every last al-Queda and Taliban. We should have tracked down every one fleeing to another country (regardless of where they went) and wiped them from the face of the earth. Then said to the rest of the world that this is how we will respond to any other attacks in the future. At the same time we should be working to rid the world of poverty, hunger, and loss of hope. It is funny how people misunderstand the muslim world meaning of the destruction of Israel. Israel is a goverment based solely on religion. Meaning you can only be a citzen of Israel if you are Jewish. No Muslim likes that. They want land in middle of the holiest part of the world to be open to all religions not just Jewish. That is what they mean when they say the desctuciton of Israel. The concept that you can only be a Jew to become an citzen of that area which for 1000 years has been mostly muslim.
