Merlin ,   USA   (09.15.06)
10 (ten as in one more than nine) is the number of calls made on the IDF not to attack!
2. really, it was a mistake?
Ahmad Abouali ,   Nablus   (09.15.06)
the UN personnel at the site had contacted the Zionist authorities, at least ten times over a five hours period, asking them to stop firing at it, to learn later of their own demise. the site was clearly marked to the air, it was attacked in a broad day time, and was hit with three satelite guided missiles, which resulted in the murder of four UN observers. So, Mark, try another one will you?

It should have been an independent probe, not an investigation by Israel or the IDF.
6. Let's see the talk-back apologies
RAGUSA   (09.15.06)
From all the oh-so-sure-we-are-perfect talkbacks on the IDF killing of the UN personell I think apologies are in order. The consistent and numerous allegations that UN was allowing Hizballah to fire from within their obs-post or that Hizballah was hiding behind UN has been proven unfounded by no other than IDF it self. To all of you, who were so busy telling the UN that the deaths were of their own wrong-doing and that they deserved no better: Be ashamed. I guess asking for compassion with the UN officers that were killed while doing their tiny bit to create peace in YOUR region will be to much to ask for.
7. LOL

when israelis are killed, it is by design (hence the dancing in the streets and passing out sweets). israel ALWAYS apologizes if civilians or innocents are killed. qualatative difference, my friend.

Amir AL-Safir ,   Lebanon   (09.15.06)
Hey Miky, we meet again, I left you a nice chat on the other one...you should check it out man.. Now, let’s see what we have here: You said: " Israel ALWAYS apologizes if civilians or innocents are killed. qualitative difference, my friend." Actually, Israel does not have to kill in order to apologize. No need to do that. Please, if you wana kill first to apologize later, woooffff... please don't do that... its inhumane and it hurts too. Amir
12. Thank you USA
Dr. Gary Katz ,   BostonUSAModinIsrael   (09.15.06)
Your comment on the map error during a rushed call-up of the army of children(Israel)was a refreshing relief from the cynical trash we'll hear on this. The UN was giving detailed troop and weapon movement details to Hizbullah; one of the UN people(z'l) emailed about Hizbollah activity within a football field of the UN;a gentleman to the end. I know many pilots and they must account for every single weapon used-period.If a tragic mistake happens, they'll tell you straight up. The record is clear as to who puposely kills and hides behind innocents. The brutality and cowardice of the Iran-Syria backed punks is only matched by their sadistic rituals aginst Jews. Like the prime prisoner Hizbollah wants release: multiple murderer Kuntar whose 'freedom fighting' includes' the bashing of a baby's skull against a rock with i rifle but after he killed the father and other family members. The mother, in trying to hush her infant while hiding in a closet during this orgy of slaughter, suffocated the baby to death. Fre Samir Kuntar, member of Nasrallah cult of hatred and death. Bye, Bunnie

to the UN soldiers and their families, but didn't anyone take the Canadian officers e-mails seriously. that the Hezbolla were in their compound, firing rockets. Has the UN ever done anything about so many previous rockets attacks on Northern Israel? Where is UN apology for not doing its job, where is the Hezbolla apology for basically taking over the UN base and thus being the cause of the deaths. We dont have rocket launchers in our basement, but were attacked, where was the UN then? They observed, made notes and then what? . Again sorry for their loses, but this was the UN's responsibilty and the apology should come from whoever is responsible for allowing the hezbolla flag to fly at a UN base.

Amir AL-Safir ,   Lebanon   (09.15.06)
Megan, You said: " but this was the UN's responsibilty and the apology should come from whoever is responsible for allowing the hezbolla flag to fly at a UN base. " One request from your highness: Did you actually see Hezbollah flag flying over the UN compound before you pulled the trigger and dropped the bomb over their heads? What I am asking you is a qualifier for your assumption, or do you have a picture to prove it? In this jungle world, you cannot simply say that there was a flag. The UN said there were no flag. And, the truth is, it’s either the Israelis are to blame or the Hezbollah are stupid. I mean, if you are hiding from your enemy, you don't waive a flag at them…. Do you? This sounds like Duffy Duck hiding from the Road Runner… Beep…..beeep….. Amir
17. So, how many human errors are responsible
(09.15.06)
for killing of one thousand Lebanese civilians?

19. 11 - seems you don't read
mike ,   israel (formerly usa   (09.15.06)
intentionality - who targets civilians? cowards - who hides behind civilians? civilian deaths - who apologizes? who dances in the streets and hands out sweets? why do jihadis kill? why don't they apologize? are they inhumane, as you say?
20. Like the previous, this war is full of war crimes

21. Hi, I'm from Finland, one of the 4 countries those
Z ,   Finland   (09.15.06)
those UN troops originated from. - I wonder why nobody here is blaming the Hizbullah for starting the war? It seems to be very easy for you to blame Israel for self defence. But if Hizbullah (read: Iran and Syria) nocks on your door, you shouldn't give them an easy victory. In my opinion, the Persians are OK, but their leader should be changed. Iran doesn't need nuclear weapon, they need democracy!
22. To (#19) Mike, Israel (formerly Alaska)
Amir AL-Safir ,   Lebanon   (09.15.06)
Hi Mike, You said: " why do jihadis kill? why don't they apologize? are they inhumane, as you say? " You said it all right; these Jihadis that kill innocent people do not have to appologize, simply because they are Not humans and deserve to be put away. Amir
23. #amir..yes
megan ,   Israel   (09.15.06)
, oh i am royalty! did i press a wrong button, thus your sarcastic remark so why you just mention the flag, why not the Canadian UN officers emails, or you think they were also fake! . The truth hurts doesnt it Duffy Duck.
24. Evacuation?
Jimmy ,   Canada   (09.15.06)
Why was the post not evacuated before the bombs fell? I don't buy this argument of 'old maps or duplication mistakes', the post was there for many years. Were these maps being copied by hand? Canadians are getting fed up with the 'friendly fire' incidents due to reckless behavior. American and Israeli forces need to confirm targets before pulling the trigger - don't be a Cheney.

Jason ,   New Jersey   (09.15.06)
"about 100 metres (yards) from the UN position there was a Hizbullah position where there was "hostile activity". If this is the case, why didn't the UN Peacekeepers do something about it, instead of just sitting idly by and watching? What the h*ll is the point of simply watching Hezbollah take up positions and strike? UN= Unwanted Nobodies

Duffy Duck is a passionate guy. But the road runner is always on the run. One Century here, another Century there. Who knows where he'll be next Century. By the way, I tried to look for the report on the Cannadian e-mail on the net. Do you mind to direct me to the source if you will? If its true that the Hezbollah were in the UN compound and using the UN as a human shield, then I think your argument is waranted, and I will stand corrected for that matter. I just did not see any report from the UN archive eluding to the e-mails. The UN warnings to IDF that they are firing too close at them and no mention about the Canadian e-mail. Awaiting your reply.. Amir

megan ,   Israel   (09.16.06)
sorry not really up on cartoon characters, like tom and jerry myself! But as you seem such an ardent reader of Ynet I am surprised you have not found that info regarding the e-mails (4 in all where he wrote that hezbolla were all over them there) or the pic of the 2 flags flying in the compound. I do have the pic, but of course that may have been previous to the war, that I can't guarantee, but even so, it did put that compound in a bad light as it would have done for you had the Israeli flag been flying there. So suggest you go into the search at the head of the page, next to site. To keep getting back here I type UN, get the list of anything to do with that subject. I would also hope you would agree, using people, whoever they are as human shields is a cowardly thing, no valour or heroism in that, just suffering. So maybe hezbolla will adopt the Duffy Duck syndrome and no one has to be a road runner...away from war zones.

Hi Megan, Thank you for taking time to look for the article. Although I believe in your honest intention in the subject mater, but I must admit that I find it important to report fact from reliable sources on the web. I myself have to be careful as which site to quote from. I have a rule that I like to share with you. Unless I can read very similar article on at least 2-3 well know internet news outlet, I will not consider as worth referencing beause you can be easily outwitted for undue reporting. Regarding the real cause of the Israeli attack on the UN post, even though it is well known that theUN had called in the Israeli IDF at least six times several hours before the attack and the IDF answer in every call that they promise not to attack, yet, the IDF did not follow o their words and wasted the UN lives. Below, is the Ynetnews link that you could not find on the UN attack: http://www.ynetnews.com/articles/0,7340,L-3304171,00.html I have also found these sites from: CBC news: http://www.cbc.ca/story/world/national/2006/09/14/israel-report.html Washington Post: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/09/14/AR2006091400991.html None of the above reliable sources have ever mentioned the Hezbullah flag story that you have eluded to. Thank you anyway for this dialogue and I am sure we'll meet later. Keep in touch Amir
