1. Pope
jj ,   montreal canada   (09.16.06)
Just goes to prove he was right. How come no Christians rioted When the YMCA was fire bombed in Nablus, or When Christian converts are condemned to death, or Christians routinly persecuted in Moslem countries? It shows Christian tolerance. The world better wake up.
2. Eat it!!
Just desserts ,   NYC, USA   (09.16.06)
And I want an immediate apology from any Muslim of import that ever demeaned the Christian and Jewish religion. Think thats coming anytime soon? Muslim hypocrites can eat it raw!!!
3. don't protest too much
nehad ismail ,   camberley, england   (09.16.06)
I would say to my fellow muslims, please stop shooting yourself in the foot. Overreaction and violent protests are counter-productive. The protests must be directed again poverty, unemployment, corruption, mistreastment of women and terrorism by Al-Qaeda in the name of Islam.
4. Truth upsets islam? that's scarry!
Truth should't ,   HURT!   (09.16.06)
5. What's the defference between Upset,Sorry&Apology?
cleo ,   cairo   (09.16.06)
Washingtonpost wrote: Pope Benedict is sorry Muslims were offended by a speech on Islam that provoked fury around the world and led to calls for the leader of the Catholic church to apologize, an aide said on Saturday. CNN wrote: Pope Benedict XVI has said he is "very upset" that his speech on Islam offended Muslims and expressed his respect for their faith, according to the Vatican. BBC wrote: Pope Benedict XVI says he is sorry about the offence caused by his speech referring to the Muslim faith. *UK praise for Pope apology *Muslim press anger over Pope *Pope reacts to row: Full text
6. Oh look, muslims are up in arms. again
Nannette ,   London, UK   (09.16.06)
Threatening jihad, again, etc., etc. They'd like us to all lie down and submit to the will of Islam, that that's not going to happen. The Pope's speech was all about peaceful, interfaith, dialogue, although I doubt most of the protesters ever read the full speech in context. The most telling part of the Pope’s speech, which is causing so much outrage in the Muslim world, is the last part, the conclusion. Said the Pontiff: The West has long been endangered by this aversion to the questions which underlie its rationality, and can only suffer great harm thereby. The courage to engage the whole breadth of reason, and not the denial of its grandeur - this is the programme with which a theology grounded in Biblical faith enters into the debates of our time. "Not to act reasonably, not to act with logos, is contrary to the nature of God", said Manuel II, according to his Christian understanding of God, in response to his Persian interlocutor. It is to this great logos, to this breadth of reason, that we invite our partners in the dialogue of cultures. To rediscover it constantly is the great task of the university. And there we have it: "It is to this great logos, to this breadth of reason, that we invite our partners in the dialogue of cultures" … he is inviting a dialogue. The protests obviously mean that they don't want a peaceful dialogue with any non-Muslim nation.
7. Muslim Brotherhood
BERNARD ,   FRANCE VERSAILLES   (09.16.06)
It's exactly what the moslems keep saying all the time about the christians and the jews !

9. "...why are they not screaming?"
gerd schulz ,   germany   (09.16.06)
Muslims fly commercial airliners into buildings in New York City. No Muslim outrage. Muslim officials block the exit where school girls are trying to escape a burning building because their faces were exposed.  No Muslim outrage. Muslims cut off the heads of three teenaged girls on their way to school in Indonesia.  A Christian school.  No Muslim outrage. Muslims murder teachers trying to teach Muslim children in Iraq.  No Muslim outrage. Muslims murder over 80 tourists with car bombs outside cafes and hotels in Egypt.  No Muslim outrage. A Muslim attacks a missionary children's school in India.  Kills six. No Muslim outrage. Muslims slaughter hundreds of children and teachers in Beslan, Russia. No Muslim outrage. Let's go way back.  Muslims kidnap and kill athletes at the Munich Summer Olympics.  No Muslim outrage. Muslims fire rocket-propelled grenades into schools full of children in Israel.  No Muslim outrage. Muslims murder more than 50 commuters in attacks on London subways and busses.  Over 700 are injured.  No Muslim outrage. Muslims massacre dozens of innocents at a Passover Seder.  No Muslim outrage. Muslims murder innocent vacationers in Bali.  No Muslim outrage. Muslim newspapers publish anti-Semitic cartoons.  No Muslim outrage Muslims are involved, on one side or the other, in almost every one of the 125+ shooting wars around the world.  No Muslim outrage. Muslims beat the charred bodies of Western civilians with their shoes, then hang them from a bridge.  No Muslim outrage. Muslims around the world express outrage over Pope Benedict XVI's remarks on Islam! When do they take to the streets to express their outrage at the radicals who are making their religion the object of worldwide hatred and ridicule? Islamic writer Salman Rushdie wrote of these silent Muslims in a New York Times article three years ago.  "As their ancient, deeply civilized culture of love, art and philosophical reflection is hijacked by paranoiacs, racists, liars, male supremacists, tyrants, fanatics and violence junkies, why are they not screaming?" 10. popes statement
frank howard ,   staunton va   (09.16.06)
why should he apoligize when the moderate mulsims have not for the evil muslims are commiting an even against their own people
11. Benedict Rocks!
Adam ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (09.16.06)
12. Muslim Brotherhood has learned from ADL and Abe Foxeman
Monk ,   USA   (09.16.06)
Ynet wrote: "Egypt's Muslim Brotherhood said a Vatican statement on Saturday saying Pope Benedict was sorry for upsetting Muslims with his comments on Islam did not go far enough." Isn't this what Abe Foxman said of Mel Gibson's initial apology? It did not go far enough? What self-respecting Jew wants an apology from an anti-Semite or a Jew-hater? Pope Benedict is showing himself -- at least up till now --- to be a better man than either Mr. Gibson or Mr. Foxman. If he apologizes to the Muslim world specifically for his remarks, quoting a 14th century emperor, then I will reassess.
13. Muslims-upset waaaaah-get over it!
Watchman777 ,   USA   (09.16.06)
14. ppe
leah amdur ,   Jerusalem Israel   (09.16.06)
Lol Magiah lo. Remember the intimate friendship between the grand mufti and the pope in the Shoah. The pope has never loved the Jews now he has upset his Muslim allies
15. Reaction proves Pope is right
Steve ,   Israel   (09.16.06)
The mere violent reaction the "peaceful" muslims always display just PROVE how right the Pope was in his statements. There is no reason to apologize for the truth. May the world open its eyes.
16. Once again
Sidney ,   USA   (09.16.06)
This is just a replay of the Danish cartoon fiasco and, indeed, of the Salman Rushdie fatwah. The Islamic fascists believe that the whole world must show deference and respect to Islam while they call Jews and Christians "monkeys and pigs". Maybe this incident will help a few naive people understand that Islamic fascism cannot be appeased.
17. Why apologise for the truth?
Crusader ,   Christendom   (09.16.06)
When did the Muslim Brotherhood ever apologize for all the violence done by it's members? What Muslims really want is to make the Pope cow-tow to Islam. If he does, that would make a really great big PR victory for the Islamic terrorist radicals. By makeing a "personal apology" the Pope will become the highest ranking "dhimmi" in Christendom! I sure hope he doesn't do it. Muahmmad did spread his religion by the sword! The four "rightly guided" Caliphs did spread Islam via violent jihad. So, what is the problem? Muslims can dish it out, but they sure can't take it!
18. Fact
James ,   New Zealand   (09.16.06)
I'm not a catholic, but the reactions of the muslims proves the pope is correct in what he says!
19. #5 - he's upset that you're hurt by the truth
michael ,   tel aviv & london   (09.16.06)
he can hardly apologise tor telling the truth can he or be sorry that you don't like it.
20. Christians are violent and Nazis
sam ,   las vegas NV USa   (09.16.06)
Jesus calles for peace, but Christians are spreadind hatred, Nazi, and Faschist ideas. Christians and Jews have caused the most casualties since the dawn of humanity. So, shut up and stop accusing Muslims in something that is in you because you are racist and violent. Christianity and Judaism are good, but their followers are bad because they do not follow the true religion.
21. please stop stereotyping
Mohammad ,   Jordan   (09.16.06)
I am muslim, i am was not offended by the Pope comments. I admit that we have radicals and fanatics, but the majority of muslims are liberals. You should not judge more than one billion muslims by the actions of a small minority. Cheers
22. It seems
Sagi   (09.16.06)
they not only agree with what he said but they are trying to actually show he was right by offering the proof, just in case there is any doubt. The world is populated by 1 billion Muslims and 5 billion others who are deaf, blind and dumb. I just keep on wondering what will happen to the 5 billion after they have gone, Western civilization means not only a change of values but also no planes, no cars, no computers, no trains etc. What will the Arabs do with all the oil. I know, the whole of humankind, what is left of it, will live in eternal darkness, forehead stuck to the ground, posterior in the air. What a thought !
23. Never enough. Convert or die
Johnson ,   USA   (09.16.06)
Screw you all.......You better lay low in this country. We wont put up with that crap.
24. #3 hard to believe you're a Muslim ?
michael ,   tel aviv & london   (09.16.06)
Tell us honestly. Do you pray every day? Do you go to the mosque every week? Do you fast at ramadan. I would imagine that you don't do any of the above which would mean that you're not a Muslim. I have sadly come to the conclusion that ALL Muslims are extremists . Please prove me wrong!
25. Pope's Comments
Margaret Schaut ,   Detroit Michigan   (09.16.06)
The Pope is OBLIGATED, as the Prime Christian Spiritual Leader, to speak the truth whether or not anyone likes it. Many of us have lost all respect for Europe, for the global press, and for the United Nations, based on their abject grovelling to the poor muslims, and not standing up for what they say they believe. The Pope is GUARANTEED free speech by the democracies of the West, until such time as Islam overtakes those democracies. The Vatican and most of the churches in Europe will have probably been blown up, desecrated, or turned into mosques by then.
26. #9 Gerd and popes speech
megan ,   Israel   (09.16.06)
yes all that and the list goes on and on, and will get longer and longer each day. they have so much to apologise for but its something I doubt very much if we will see. The Pope made a speech, and basically i beleive what he was trying to get over was that this terrorism is an afront to G-d, whatever the religion calls Him, and to the people. He was upset by this last war, said so...did you see Jews going on the rampage. Folks we are dealing with fanatics and lowlifes, that receive their education comes from the evil imams and those that use their stupidity for their own power and gains. Teach them hatred and basically drive them to an insane lust to kill. I mean to say who in their right mind would want to be a suicide bomber/pilot or whatever they will think of next.
27. Vatican Regret
Tom ,   Los Angeles, CA USA   (09.16.06)
It is impossible to apologize for another's remarks. It is my understanding that the Pope was quoting another Christian. The violent Muslim response around the world validates the sentiment of the quote. His 'regret' should be for the irrational Muslim response to his statement.
28. #9 You Don't Understand The U.S.
Tom ,   Los Angeles, CA USA   (09.17.06)
The U.S. government and society are secular, not Christian or Jewish. Decisions to go to war or not to go to war are based on secular, non-religious philosophies. The U.S. and U.K. have religious freedom but do not let any one religion dominate their governments' policies. Ironically their philosophies are more akin to atheism.
29. #9 Apology
Tom ,   Los Angeles, CA USA   (09.17.06)
My remarks were for # 20.
30. Riled up are they?
megan ,   Israel   (09.16.06)
ahhhh what a shame..... my heart goes out to them NOT! oh dear Mr Pope, you have blundered! Didn't you know that these people DO get offended and are looking for any excuse to riot, and let off a lot of hot wind. They beleive they are right when they reign terror on other human beings, and they like living in the dark ages. Oh Mr Pope, guess you weren't too well informed about Islamicfacistos, But we are infidels and Fatwas mean zilch to us, dont they.
