1. The question is really .....
Hiram ,   tel-aviv   (09.19.06)
...to find out what does Israel offers to Jews from abroad who MAY BE tempted by alyah....and do not do it for many reasons including economics when comparing their actual stand of living with the Israeli economics .....Think about it , do more for them, and may be the trend will revert !
2. to solve the demographic problem: disengage from haifa!
m. abbas ,   ramallah   (09.19.06)
3. To number 1, the answer is easy
Palestinian   (09.19.06)
You were cheated by your leaders a century ago when they told you this land has no people. I agree with you that you are in trouble! The answer I have is simple. The answer is not more aliyah. More stealing of the Palestinian lands. The answer is to return the Paletinian refugees. Give back the rights of people that you took by force. Then you should know that Islam will do justice toward you. Remember that Jews lived here in peace. It is true they were Dhimmis, which means they were paying taxes muslims did not pay. But the reason for that was because you were not requested to join the muslim armies.
4. Palestinian-what a funny name

5. #3 Dhimmi worse than Apartheid
Kyle ,   Southpark, CO, USA   (09.19.06)
DHIMMI: A BRIEF OVERVIEW 7th-21st century. The notion of Dhimmitude, originating in the 7th century, still applies today to non-Muslims under Islamic rule—whether Jews or Christians, whether in Saudi Arabia or in Sudan. Dhimmitude began in 628 CE when Mohammed and his forces conquered the Jewish oasis at Khaybar. They massacred many of the Jews and forced the rest to accept a pact ("Dhimma") which rendered them inferiror to their Muslim conquerors. Over the centuries, the ideology of Dhimmitude expanded into a formal system of religious apartheid. Institutionalized apartheid. In Shari’a law, there are official discriminations against the Dhimmi, such as the poll-tax or jizya. No legal rights. Jews may not testify in court against a Muslim and have no legal right to dispute or challenge anything done to them by Muslims. There is no such thing as a Muslim raping a Jewish woman; there is no such thing as a Muslim murdering a Jew (at most, it can be manslaughter). In contrast, a Jew who strikes a Muslim is killed. Humiliation and vulnerability. Jews and Christians had to walk around with badges or veils identifying them as Jews or Christians. The yellow star that Jews had wear in Nazi Germany did not originate in Europe. It was borrowed from the Muslim world where it was part of the apartheid system of Dhimmitude. Conditional protection. The protection of the Dhimmi is withdrawn if the Dhimmi rebels against Islamic law, gives allegiance to non-Muslim power (such as Israel), refuses to pay the poll-tax, entices a Muslim from his faith, or harms a Muslim or his property. If the protection is lifted, jihad resumes. For example, Islamists in Egypt who pillage and kill the Copts do so because they no longer pay their poll-tax and therefore are no longer protected.
6. questions on the figures
Simon David ,   London UK   (09.19.06)
Does the arab population include East Jerusalem? Also who are the 4.3% of Israelis who are neither Jewish nor Arabs? Druze? Foreign workers ? non-Arab evangelical christians ? Also, what on earth are you going to do about the Dead Sea???? 1 metre a year? Thats a disaster.
7. #3 Palestinian - The Hebron Massacre of Jews was in 1929
Nannette ,   London, UK   (09.19.06)
Jews didn't have peace with the Arabs, at least, not since Islam arrived in the middle east. Why lie, when all the historical records show the opposite. Forced conversions, massacres, theft of property and money, etc... all in the name of Islam!
8. Jews Don't Want to Live in Such a Corrupt Dictatorship
Nannette ,   London, UK   (09.19.06)
I was going to make aliyah, but won't, because of the way this government is treating Jews so badly, and also the fact that there's no deocracy in Israel. It's become a dictatorship and I won't live in any country which doesn't allow true freedom of speech for ALL it's citizens. Far more Jews from Europe are now going to America or Canada - they don't need to be robbed blind by Israel!
9. How many Israeli citizens live abroad?
Uzi ,   Haifa   (09.19.06)
Data and analysis, regarding Israeli citizens and people entitled to Israeli citizenship residing abroad, will be appreciated and may be interesting.
10. Good News
Choni problems.   (09.19.06)
The really good news is that 25% of Jewish births are Hareidi. Thank God, if this trend continues,we wll have an authentic Jewish state within a generation.

12. Don't worry, Palestinian, French and British Jews coming
sage   (09.19.06)
...in large part because your friendly Muslim brethern in those countries are scaring the heck out of them. You can keep dreaming about Jewish dhimmis, and in the meantime Israel will keep thriving as a Jewish state. 58 years and counting. You could also have your own state by now if you weren't so hungry for ours.
13. the abbas guy is actually funny ! LOL!

gadalyah   (09.19.06)
one fine morning the idf should fence the town and so connect it to the west bank.it would no longer be israeli.and voila fewer arabs in israel.
15. to #3 Palestinian
(09.19.06)
as it says in the bible (you know the one you Moslems beleive in to) as follows: "and I shall give unto you the land of Canaan as a homeland for your generations, when you enter the land that I G-d have given to you you must REMOVE the inhabitants from within your midst, otherwise I will do unto you what i chose to do unto them". you have no right to this land, it was never yours, it was a mandate country for years and was a swamp. why dont you go to Jordan or Egypt or one of the other Arab countries where you are surely welcome. You are NOT welcome in the land of Israel it is Jewish land as said by ALLAH. and please tell me one thing: when you guys daven (pray) why do you turn your backside to al aksa whilst facing towards mecca? isnt it disrespectful to the Al aksa? it seems to me the pope was right.
16.  Population decreasing
silvio ,   italy   (09.19.06)
There they are many Christian people of the European east that want to move in Europe. Enough convince them to move in Israel. Or behavior more children.
17. To the "Palestinian"
Adam ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (09.19.06)
Actually there is no 'Palestinian' land and there never was a Palestinian state and most of the land you sit on was owned by rich barons who lived abroad. The land we sit on had a population of 300,000 in the 19th Century on both banks and it now has 16million. We never said that there wasn't one person there. By the way for most of history Islam treated the Jews just as badly as Christianity so don't give us that BS. Also the "Refugees" have no right to move here. PS. Grow a brain please
18. #3 Dhimmis paid jizya, also forced into Muslim army
Kyle ,   Southpark, CO, USA   (09.19.06)
Janissaries [Turk.,=recruits], elite corps in the service of the Ottoman Empire (Turkey). It was composed of war captives and Christian youths pressed into service; all the recruits were converted to Islam and trained under the strictest discipline. It was originally organized by Sultan Murad I. The Janissaries gained great power in the Ottoman Empire and made and unmade sultans. By 1600, Muslims had begun to enter the corps, largely through bribery, and in the 17th cent. membership in the corps became largely hereditary, while the drafting of Christians gradually ceased. In 1826, Sultan Mahmud II rid himself of the unruly (and by now inefficient) Janissaries by having them massacred in their barracks by his loyal Spahis.

20. Lopping off Arab Triangle won't help
Raymond from DC ,   Washington, DC USA   (09.19.06)
gadalyah (#14) suggests fencing off Um al Fah'm into the PA to reduce the number of Arabs in Israel. MK Lieberman has made a similar suggestion. He's wrong too. The idea that such a change could or should be made without public debate is ridiculous. Aside from the legality of such a move (and the obvious preference of the locals not to lose the benefits of Israeli citizenship), it won't accomplish anything. Look what happened around Jerusalem as the route of the security fence was finalized. Many West Bank Arabs in the environs of the capitol simply moved to the "other side" of the fence route. So redrawing the boundary will only result in a migration of Arab residents into a smaller Israel. One should always beware of such "unintended consequences".

22. Israel: Encourage Muslims to Leave and Live Elsewhere!

You probably believe in what you write. So, the Jews should calmly hand over the state of Israel to you guys, welcome dhimmitude, pay the jiziya and live under your mercy. How generous! I have had that pleasure already! I was born in Aden, the south of Yemen. How nice it was for us to hide every Friday night when the crowds came out of their mosques fired up by their imams to beat up or kill jews. Isn't that what your quran teaches you? In 1948 dozens of jews were butchered in the streets and in their homes. The same happened in 1956. Had the british not airlifted the jews out overnight in 1967, all of them would have been massacred. So, no thank you for your offer but, I offer a most likely scenario. Now that the jews have finally reclaimed what is bindingly theirs, the state of Israel, the arabs living within it have to demonstrate their respect to their jewish rulers. See, so far, the world has pressured Israel to let you guys abuse your welcome and this abuse has flourished. The world is beginning to understand the big islamic plan. In this plan there is no room for tolerance for any other creed, religion, belief or way of life. You may think that the present invasion of Europe by muslims and their increasing influence is a huge progress in realising your goal of turning the entire planet to islam. Wrong! No one in their right mind wants to be suppressed, oppressed, bullied, victimised, deprived of freedom, abused etc etc. So, the conclusion to this islamic advance is pretty logical. It is only a matter of time for the west to react, and, react it will. The bad news for you is that the far more advanced west will crush your people to a pulp because it will be left with no other choice. It is not like you are smart enough people to understand you have taken things too far and begin to back off. The time for the west to react is getting pretty close! You have my sympathy, in advance.
24. Your nightmare

25. Agree with #1 and also, #3 I have a reply
Ari   (09.19.06)
The answer is not to disengage and create false demographic results but actually to increase aliyah. Packages and absorbtion schemes should make more Jews wish to live in Israel. Its nice Israel gets your support (speaking to foreign Jews) but why sit on the fence? Israel is our dream and its time for you to participate. It might be scary I suppose, with all the news about terror and katusha and qassam rockets. But honestly, it is fine living in Israel. The country is only as good as we make it and will only survive if we believe in it. make Aliyah - its the right thing to do here is more info: http://www.jewishagency.org/JewishAgency/English/Aliyah/ And as for #3 I must first thank you for not using hateful language and I am pleased to see a Palestinian engaging in debate over the issue instead of resorting to violence. You are right Jews did live in the area previous to the creation of teh modern state of Israel. However, I must inform you of many injustices suffered under Jews living under dhimmitude. Although it was better than the treatment Jews faced in Europe, it is by no means acceptable. Islam is your way and Judaism is mine. The only reasonable thing to do is live in a secular society. Israel does not impose halacha on anyone and much less non-Jewish populations. So why should I want to live under Islam? Islam is only peaceful when it is accepted - which is unacceptable to me. As for the stealing lands claim, I'd have to say, prove it. Palestinian refugees as you say but prior to 1967 alot of these people were jordanians (westbank) or Egyptian (Gaza). There are those who did flee their homes in what is today Israel but you have to acknowledge that 800,000 Jews were forced from other Arab countries (like Iraq, Yemen, etc) with no restitution or right of return either. I wish to know what your answer is for the Jews who were thrown out of ME countries with nothing. You call for Jews to return to Europe, but a majority of Jews are of ME origin. Let me hear your solution then. Let say we have a single country in which we have a democratic vote. In the area its still nearly 80% Jewish and thus we are back to square one - the present situation. The better solution, I feel, is for the countries that are hosting these refugees to assimilate them. These countries (like Syria, Jordan, Lebnaan) are guilty of supressing Palestinians more than any one. They keep you in squalid camps and restrict your movement and work oppertunities. I have seen the 'justice' Islam mets out to people and I assure you it is no justice I am interested in.
26. proportions

Just because before 1967 there was no political entity called Palestine, does not mean that the people who are now Palestinians did not live there. Before 1963 there was no Kenya, does this mean that Kenyans are also a mythical peoples? That Kenyans have no right to the land on which they've been living because they had no modern-state identity? No, of course not that would be a flawed arguement, and thus so is yours. The lack of a political identity does not mean that those people did not live there for thousands of years. You're right however, in that Palestinian nationalism was created after 1967, it was created to attempt to give the people living in those areas the freedom they deserved. Stop trying to say that these Palestinians simply are foreigners trying to steal Israeli land - that's called a conspiracy theory and is no different than Muslims believing that Jews control the world. Of course these people have been living there for thousands of years. The reason they speak Arabic is that after being under the rule of Arab leaders they adapted Arab language and culture. The more you allow your ignorance to control you the longer this cycle of violence in the region will continue.
