There is a law that was introduced specifically to prevent traitors from traveling to enemy states. We have seen them in Lebanon and Syria and heard what they had to say. Open and closed case - four years in jail! They are not denying it and in effect are pleading guilty !

It is ludicrous to suspend Arab MK's for words said in the Knesset while allowing them to get away with meeting the enemy and supporting terrorism. You are striking an elephant with a fly swatter.

There are 3 major factors to consider when discussing the behavior of Arab Knesset members. The first, and most alarming is that they obviously represent the feelings and positions of Israeli Arabs. They are the ones elected, not those Israeli Arabs who hold more moderate views and are loyal to the state (if there are any Israeli Arabs who are totally loyal). This is alarming because in addition to implying a dangerous fifth column, it sets up fear and mistrust among the majority and leads to discrimination. Second, although what they said was abominable, Jewish members of the Knesset, especially those on the extreme left, have also uttered similar vulgarities. What they said was far less offensive than the Arab MK's going to enemy countries and collaborating with the enemy. This is treason. Third, the whole question of ethics, proper behavior, and loyalty has to be codified. This does not mean that legitimate criticism should be stifled, but there has to be procedures for dealing with obvious cases of disloyalty to the State.

because so many arabs live in Israel, they also receive the democratic right to vote for who they please, not all vote for these MK's but sadly enough do to put them in the knesset. I saw them on TV during the war and all three of the mainliners where sent out after 3 warnings. This also happens to anyone who disrupts. As to their unsanctioned trip over the boarder, that in my opinion should have been enough to suspend them indefinately. When Zippi Livni wanted to go to the States, Olmert said no, she didn't go. But we have a ditz for a PM, so are we to expect more...nahhhh.

To state the obvious, all members of the Knesset mut be loyal to Israel. The oath should read: I pledge allegiance to the State of Israel, I am in full support of all Zionist Ideals as set forth in the Declartation of Independence. I will uphold Israel's Basic Law, and will do nothing to undermind Israel. I will fight for Israel against any nation that seeks to diminish its post 1967 borders.

Our suspended MK's did not commit acts of treason - they spoke out of line. They said some nasty things and most definately should be disciplined. BUT these MK's were voted in by Israeli citizens. They, themselves, are Israeli citizens - despite the reality that most of the Arab world considers THAT treasonous. And, Michael, lets be real: this is a case of politicians calling each other names and acting like idiots.... nothing new under the sun.

Israel will always have my love, just like my terminally ill Aunt. However, these MK's travel at will to terrorist enemy states and the laws against this are not enforced. If Israel plans on surviving the onslaught it is facing, the self-rightous, self-hating, leftism that now rules Israeli society will have to be ousted

No oath of loyalty should be political - ever - anywhere. The oath of an elected politician should only refer to his/her upholding the responsiblities of their office and doing nothing to endanger the State, government or citizens of the State. You may want to review the Declaration of Independence - while penned by Zionists - it is most gracious and accepting of all others. That - in fact - is the true Zionist ideal.

Michael - I understand your concern BUT - these MK's DID NOT travel to enemy states. They said nasty things about other politicians. YES other MK's have travelled to enemy states and the law ruled that this was illegal. Israel is not your terminally ill Aunt (do hope she gets better). We are a nation with internal dialogue, variety in views and ideologies and hope for the future. Anything else would make us pitiable indeed.

The reason that it Israel is being attacked is because Arabs will push to see what Israel's limits are. Israel needs to be tough to show that "this sh*t is not going to fly." I wish I could vote in Israel -- time of unlateral withdrawals is over, and Israel should take back same amount of land from Gaza that it withdrew from, right on the border with Egypt, like a long 3-5 km strip (unlike that tiny 200 m Phili route) to stop smuggling -- then Israel will have quiet until Arabs will accept Israel.

Why are there Arabs in the ruling body of Yisrael? The children of Yisrael were meant to govern themselves and their land, not the descendants of Ishmael. Remove them from the Knesset and draw the line, reminding the Arabs that they are guests in the land of Yisrael and that they should not abuse the privilege. If they cannot accept this, perhaps their "brothers" in Arab nations will accept them...won't they?

Several if not all the arab knesset members are not loyal to the State of Israel. The Knesset must by filled with members that accept the Declaration of Independence and the Basic Law. I have read the Declaration of Independence and I stand firm in its tenets, Do the Arab Knesset members? I think not.
