What good can it do for you Halutz to keep your post? Is it that resigning would effect your long term political ambitions? As a leader of the army, the people in your command must have full faith in you. Do you really believe they do? If you cared about the country, you'd assign the best and most respected man to take over your post. No soldier or reservist would feel motivated in any future conflict otherwise. And right before you resign, I suggest you buy some stock, the market will react well to your departure.
