It is true that the world had changed and the Hizbullah war has proved that Israel's war policy isn't working anymore. The lost war isn't Olmert's fault like Israeli citizens like to believe to have an excuse for not attaining the objectives but it is true that Olmert gave the war unattainable objectives which was his biggest mistake. I think nevertheless that the UNIFIL is a success for Israel and for Lebanon because it is the only way to try to contain and disarm Hizballah which is keeping lebanon hostage for regional interests. The biggest mistake Israel did was to attack hizballah, it should have attacked Syria which is the facilitator between Iran and Hezballah and then the link would be cut off between them. Hezbollah wouldn't attack Israel if syria was attacked because lebanese people would be against that and would align with Israel because most lebanese hate syria for all the stuff they did when they occupied the country. By attacking Hezballah all Israel did was to attack the arm of Iran and not its core.

The Leabonon war came as a surprise. Rummor has it it was a prelude to Israel attacking Iran. Not that it is out of the question. But the international military build up off of Lebanon, someone rummured was that Israel was going to be invaded. It would be more likely that Syria was the target for this buildup.
