1. This is how you decide - Who started the fighting?
RA   (09.26.06)
The conflict was instigated by the same people who use the word intifada. Muslims - Palestinians in this case.
2. If the Real Victims Are The Winners ... Then ...
bobba fett ,   eisham, israel   (09.26.06)
The Intifada Museum ... ought to include two prominent exhibits: 1) How in 1987, the local Gazan PLO terrorists started "the first Intifada" with every intention of killing Israelis (Jewish, Muslim, Christian or otherwise) in order to prevent a state of Palestine from coming into existence without interference from the PLO itself (whose corrupt leaders were well-ensconced in Tunis at the time). Had the state of Palestine been created in 1987, the local terrorists would have had no clue as to how to run a state responsibly, and Israel would have been justified in annihiliating it as a terror state. 2) How the Second Intifada which started in 2000, was started: By the Godfather of modern terrorism, Yasser Arafat, who again started the war against Israel, in order to hold on to his corrupt thugocracy, and avoid the responsibility of statehood and statesmanship. His bold refusal to make peace would be highlighted, especially the indignant way in which he rebuked Arab leaders from Egypt, Saudi Arabia and elsewhere, who pleaded with him to make peace with Israel once and for all. In his infinite stupidity, Arafat gave us all 6 years of hell, and now we even have Israelis and Jews so blinded by Terrorist propaganda, that they have turned their own words against Israel, which protects them while they sleep safely and which allows them to condemn Israel in words and deeds. If the Palestinians want a state, the path to statehood could not be clearer. All of the claptrap and idle chatter in the world will not change the fact that Palestinian terror, hateful incitement and miseducation of their own people, and the denial of Israel's Right To Exist In Peace, are the thing that will keep Palestinians stateless until they change their ways, or die trying. Given all the terrible things the author of the article above wishes to display: namely, how Israel is willing to use its formidable military might against the weaker Palestinians, one would hope that the Palestinians would learn the lesson. However, if there's one thing we can always count on, ... well, we all know Abba Eban's most brilliant quote by now, don't we? That quote, even though it pre-dates the second Intifada, would deserve a special place, on a big shiny sign, right at the front door of this Museum, for it is a tribute to the legacy of absolute incompetence by all Palestinian "leaders" since 1964, when the Egyptian-born Yasser Arafat launched the concept of an Arab state to be called 'Palestine', over all of 'Historic Palestine' AND the Zionist State of Israel (which would first have to be ethnically cleansed of Jews and other Israelis), all to be led by his PLO terrorists.
3. A Leftist Museum?
sk ,   USA   (09.26.06)
The author begins with a claim that to him must seem very safe: "Within the bloodshed of war it is difficult to determine who the just side is." I disagree. I think it is often very easy to determine who the just side is. Consider the "Pals." How tough is it to conclude that, with their great affection for Mein Kampf and the Protocols, their historical connection via the Mufti of Jerusalem with Hitler himself, their calculated efforts to kill little babies with point-blank shots to their heads, their collusion with dictators, their brainwashing of children to be jihadis, and on and on, that they are the bad guys? What is really dispicable here is Rubinstein's dishonesty, for he "knows" perfectly well who the just side is -- the "Palestinian" side. One day, perhaps a Leftist Museum can be build in Israel, celebrating the victory against post-Zionist leftists like the author. That is, if the leftists are defeated. If not, then there will be no Israel.
4. photo
sk ,   USA   (09.26.06)
The photo for this article on the Soapbox page shows Jewish youth resisting expulsion. Evidently, a story about Muslim violence cannot be accompanied by photos of Muslims. Sick. http://www.ynetnews.com/home/0,7340,L-3084,00.html
5. The Intifada Museum
Brooke ,   Thornhill Canada   (09.26.06)
Can the author please explain how Jews become Jew -bashing Jews? How have you and your ilk lost your moral values? It is beyond mind boggling that you can equivocate the Palestinians who have never hidden their true desire for the eradication of Israel and the Israelis who continue down the garden path somehow believing that one day their sincerity and generosity will be rewarded in just kindness. When will this madness end? And I am not sure who is more mad.......the death thirsty Palestinians who have been offered statehood numerous times or the Jew-hating Jews that have completely lost their moral compass. Who?
6. Arab, phony Palestinians, only goal is to destroy Israel.
Palestiniansareamyth ,   USA   (09.26.06)
They know that their "existance" is a fraud so they've never wanted a "Palestinian" country. Their only goal is to wipe Israel off the map.
7. Gee YNET thanks for the many Israel bashing articles
Elle ,   USA   (09.26.06)
timed for our New Year celebration. Way to pick up our spirits. Is this a sign of a new direction your paper is heading?
8. really now
oded   (09.26.06)
What a moronic article, of course there is only mention how "Sophisticated Israely weapons target little fishing boats", but don't bother mention that on that little fishing boat is a ton of explosives meant to blow up two dozen innocent people. ynet why do you put such filth on your website?!!
9. The Intifada Museum
Mike Kegel ,   San Diego   (09.26.06)
Mr. Rubinstein, your degree of guilt must make your psychoanylist proud.
10. Absurdity
Elder ,   Jersey City, NJ   (09.26.06)
The premise is absurd. If your home was infested with rats and you managed to get rid of them after much damage to your own house, would you celebrate your "victory" or build a monument to it? Look at how the Palestinian Arabs lived before the Intifada: they had jobs, an economy, prospects for peace, and a state within their grasp. To write an article like this as if their uprising against Israel was Israel's fault is unbelievably shortsighted and, frankly, stupid.
11. You left Out Some Exhibits
emanon ,   USA   (09.26.06)
Like the charred remains inside the buses blown up by the terrorists. Like the holes in walls, cars and everything else made by the ball bearing shrapnel inside the Qassam and Katusha rockets. Like the bloodstains on the walls where innocent Jews were killed while marketing. Like the empty placed at the Seder table symbolizing those killed while celebrating ith their famililies. Like the babies head blwn apart by a sniper's bullet. Like the hitch hikers gunned down in cold blood. Like the Jewish homes razed by the Israeli government so terrorists could have a place to live. Like the few buildings left for the Arabs that were torn down by the terrorists, simply because the buildings were originally built by Jews. Like the Arab civilians conned into being human shields by their own people. I could go on, but I am grieving too much. This piece is despicable and is not news worthy.
12. I hope both museums will show Israel out of Gaza
Curator   (09.26.06)
...while they continued to attack, until they, the Palestinians, finally after almost a year, got the re-engagement they so wanted.
13. poorly reasoned and poorly written
S Klein ,   NY, NY   (09.26.06)
From the Palestinian Arabs perspective, the so called "occupation" is the presence of any Jews in the historic land of Israel. Violence against the Jews was well underway in the early 1900s, and at that time all the land inhabited by the Jews was bought fair and square. The author seems to be morally troubled that the Palestinian Arabs are poorer, and do not posses as powerful weapons as Israel. As if this has any bearing on the morality of the conflict. I cringe at the thought of what would happen to us if the Palestinians did have comparable weaponry. Enough misplaced Jewish guilt already. There is nothing wrong with taking the necessary actions required to survive in this part of the world. There is no morality in being a victim.
14. Facts are simple. Any reader of the timeline of the region
Palestinian   (09.26.06)
will notice that this land was inhabitated by Arabic speaking people of about 400,000 when the first Zioinist immigrations started to take place. This 400,000 population was mistreated by zioinsts who wanted to erase them and establish a home for Jews in the same place the 400,000 people consider a home, which is Palestine. Although Palestine was not a state in the nationalistic sense we understand today, nationalism was never spread in the area at that time, and Palestinians considered Palestine their home with no single question. British ocupied Palestine, and promised to facilitate Jewish immigratinos to the land, and the Jews who were less than 7% of the population became legal immigrants according the Britain, and they were trained in the west to fight, and they committed massacres against the local indigenous population, and the story is with you ...............
15. To number 2,
(09.26.06)
why should not the Palestinians be able to run a state when the Saudis could, or the LEbanese or the Jordanians!! Can your superb intelligence explain to me that?
16. Ha!
Chris ,   LA   (09.26.06)
Judging that there is no slavery museum in America or a museum to the annihilation of native Americans, I wouldn't be surprised. How surprising it is that the holocaust which the US did not caryy out has museums in the US while crimes carried out for centuries by the US government don't have museums in the US...
17. Intifada Muse-e-e-um!!!
RIB ,   USA   (09.26.06)
Well, let's be sure to include this! http://www.israelnn.com/article.php3?id=6501 And this! 'Ask for Death': http://www.pmw.org.il/ And this! http://www.tellthechildrenthetruth.com/amin_en.html ~"Muslims in the Arab world have a saying, 'First comes Saturday, then comes Sunday.' Every Muslim in the Middle East knows exactly what this means. This is their way of saying that first they'll get the Jews (who observe Sabbath on Saturday), then they'll get the Christians (whose Sabbath is Sunday)." - Brigitte Gabriel "one quick way to identify totalitarian threats to liberty is to identify those who falsify the historical record on behalf of their own cause".
18. didn't we make peace in 1993?
aaron ,   ra'anana   (09.26.06)
and if it was a bad deal, why the f*** did you accept it??? why is the left trying to dismantle the jewish state one salami slice at a time? self-hatred? universalism? remember folks, a vote for labor is a vote for hamas
19. The occupation
Yakov S. B. ,   Jerusalem   (09.26.06)
I agree that the "occupation" is a crime. The areas recaptured in 1967 should have immediately been annexed. The local population should have had (have) the chance to decide whether to remain while accepting Israeli sovereignty or promptly evicted. Such is the nature of war. Such is the only way we can exist as an Israeli (Jewish) Nation in this Land.
20. Plenty of material already available
Ilan ,   Ariel   (09.26.06)
One need only go to MEMRI or Palestine Media Watch to see videos and text that make the Nazis look like a bunch of school children. We are up against a culture that promotes genocidal murder (witness the festive recreation of the Sbarro bomb site in Nablus) as it's national pride. The are not half as nice as what they publish would suggest.
21. #5, I said only yesterday how Jews become self hating, here:
Tali Berger ,   Israel   (09.26.06)
To be a good Jew according to the anti semitic left one must be politically correct, along with always being humane, progressive, and peace loving towards those that wish our destruction. Without saying so explicitly, they convey that in conflicts, Jews are only acceptable as victims. The other stereotype is the "violent Jew," who becomes the aggressively portrayed Israeli, also depicted as a colonialist oppressor. So in other words, to be accepted by these Jew haters, we are expected to become Self hating Jews ourselves by identifying with the suffering of the Palestinians and belittling their crimes. They then, as it were, say to the non-Jewish world: "We are among those examples of the Jew you should like. We are the good Jews." The most extreme among these say that for so-called "ethical" reasons they cut their ties with Israel, initiate actions against Israel, and support extremist peace claims against Israel such as taking back Palestinian refugees. That really seems like the only way to escape identification as the evil "violent Jew."
22. Very brave, Mr. Rubinstein!
Mario ,   Croatia   (09.26.06)
I read almost every day Ynetnews, mostly because I couldn't belive how radical, hatefull, nationalistic and religion-fanatic are attitudes in talkbacks and articles, mostly of participants from US and Israel. You proved to me that in any nation there are reasonable and brave people who are worth of respect (and who diserve that you respect their nation), and who proves that there are no good/bad jews and bad/good muslims, but good and bad people, actualy more or less reasenable. I understand yours difficul position because we had a war, and people full of hate and stance that we are better because we are We (as a war propaganda consequence). But I cannot understand that there are missing basic emphaty of discussion participants, because at least they are aware of fact that "You cant do to someone that you wouldn't like to be done to you." Mr. Rubenstein once more: my respect. Now I see that Israel is realy worth of existing, not because some G'd has given a land to some tribe, then because that there are people in Israel who will do (are trying) to do better world in that place.
23. Atonement for validating oppression
Marlene ,   NYC   (09.26.06)
There are many already questioning the indifference on the part of Israelis to the suffering they have inflicted upon the Palestinian population for decades notwithstanding the expulsion of the majority of the indigenous people. What adds even more shame to this is the past suffering of Jews constantly being taught to the world. How does one educate the world by showing the same indifference and by oppressing another people? Perhaps a good start would be on Yom Kippor...for all religiousJews who support Israel to atone for the sin of supporting a racist state that treats the Palestinian population as subhumans. For all non-religious Jews who do so, at least search your conscience and ask how you live with it.
24. Thanks for the "credible" sources No. 20
Marlene ,   New York City   (09.26.06)
How about going to Btselem, Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, Israeli Committee Against Home Demolitions, just to name a few, or try to go to the occupied terrories yourself and see the humiliation, abuse. and wanton destruction that Palestinians have been subjected to for decades instead of using sources whose only purpose is to demonize an entire population of people just the way the Nazis did. No it is not the Jews who are oppressed by the Palestinians as Jews were once oppressed by the Nazis, it is not Jews who suffer under racist laws and policies by the Palestinians as Jews once suffered under the Nazi regime, but quite the other way around. The grafitti proudly reads "Arabs to the Gas Chambers" in Hebron. The Palestinians are in fact the Jews of yesteryear.
25. for sorry, Israel hates it-self !!
(09.26.06)
26. Sure, and hate world too and vise versa :(
(09.26.06)
27. To Mario No. 22
Marlene ,   New York City   (09.26.06)
There are indeed many decent people in Israel trying to inform the world as to the realities instead of the misrepresentations, journalists such as Gideon Levy and Amira Hass, all of whom are usually called "self-hating" Jews. Even Israel's own human rights group B'tselem has been documenting horror stories inflicted upon the Palestinian people for decades. The reason why many people remain unkowledgeable such as in the USA is because the western press refuses to write the facts or usually refuses to publish opinions such as this which is based on fact.
28. Mr Rubenstien is confused
John Davis   (09.26.06)
Mr Rubenstein, You are part of the problem not the solution. Israel is all occupied territory according to the logic of the Muslim world, so in that case jump into the ocean now before you get pushed in. Wake up and stop hating yourself even more than you already do. Israel is not the problem, merely a scape goat for the worlds ills. Do not play into the hand of the enemies which seek your destruction.
29. Enough already "Marlene"
John Davis   (09.26.06)
Marlene, the Palestinians are not the "Jews' Of yesteryear. The world is standing by the Palestinians with money and support ready to build a state alongside Israel, why do you think it still does not exist? Because a state alongside the Jews is not what they want. Nothing except the total anhiliation of Israel is acceptable for the regimes of the areas surrounding Israel. There are plenty of groups all supporting the Palestinians, I would think you would not also be advocating the next holocaust of the Jews under the guise of "looking out for the poor Palestinians" you are like the Capo, selling out Israel to gain acceptance in your elite leftist circles. Shame on you. If you are ready to put the onus of blame on Israel while turning a blind eye to the Child Abuses being carried out in the Palestinian controlled areas and the use of Human Shields and terror campaigns I know where you truly stand in regards to the consideration of Human rights. Hyporcrite.
30. Sympathies for Germans too?
Daniel ,   Israel   (09.26.06)
According to Rubinstein it is irrelevant who starts the war and who wants peace and who wants war. Rubinstein doesn't either care who is teaching its kids about peace and who is brainwashing its kids to hate and murder. Rubinestein, why not show sympathies towards the German people 1945 when their own aggression and racism had turned them into poor, defeated and pathetic people? Arabs in Gaza waged a war of aggression against Israel before 1967 when Gaza was under Arab control and Arabs keep vaging a war of aggression against Israel's civilian population from Arab controlled Gaza and Lebanon that are hardly "occupied". Rubinstein's head is occupied with self-hate towards Israel and the Jewish people but that is the also the only "occupation".
