The Councils of Nicea and Constantinople in 325 and 381 C.E., made Jesus to be of the same substance as the Father... How they turned the Torah into flesh... Let him expose the Chatolic Church’s crooked, tabooed translation of the Jewish Bible... We are tired of lies and falseness, after centuries under “thought control” under the influence of the Catholic Church.... The minds of the Christians and the Moslems - have been shaped by this... The whole purpose of altering the Jewish Bible was to make it appear cristological. In a way that the New Testament shows that it is foretold in the Jewish Bible, that Jesus is the promised messiah... 4. This proves the Muslims are clueless
Steve G ,   Kew Gardens,NYC   (09.25.06)
The lack of Muslim reaction to Benedict's statements shows how superficial and clueless they are. The pope said exactly the same thing he did in his university speech. He has declared the violent jihadists to be 'outside of dialogue'. That means they are the enemy of Catholicism and the West. He has told the greater Muslim community that if they ignore the desires of the Catholic Church there will be consequences: that's what "not an optional extra" means. The only difference is that he did not use the " I will chop off your head and drink your blood" that Muslims are used to hearing from their own violent sectors. The Pope said the same thing he did before and continued to lay the groundwork for who is and who is not the enemy in the Jihadist War Against The West. He finessed them, called them on extremism and violence and did a good job at it. . . . . and The Street didn't hear a thing.
5. Hot news - Hamas won't recognize the Vatican!
Robby ,   San Jose, USA   (09.25.06)
6. Pope & Islam
Scott ,   Dallas, USA   (09.25.06)
The Pope is wasting his time. He's also a very weak representative of Christianity. True Christianity moves in the hearts and minds of people, not through the sword. The Bible teaches that the gates of Hell cannot withstand the advance of Christianity in the world. Read the end of Revelation. Islam & Christianity are diametrically opposed to one another, and will never co-exist in the world. Christianity can tolerate Islam because Jesus never imposed Himself on anyone. Islam cannot because its teachings are in opposition to Christian tenets. Individuals decide their own eternal destiny; Jesus offers "the" way of Salvation. Islam offers no salvation, other than some nebulous, virginal ecstacy after death. Enjoying virgins for eternity sounds extremely perverted and self-serving. The world is headed for Armageddon & Christ is coming back to establish His kingdom of earth. As He said, "Every knee shall bow & every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord".
7. Pope Should Leave Well Enough Alone
emanon ,   USA   (09.25.06)
Al he's going to do is exacerbate the situation. If he opens a dialog with the Sunii, the Shia will be offended. If he opens a dialog with the Shia, the Sunii will be ofended. Rememeber, each sect claims to to be the true religion of Islam. The same applies in reverse. While the Pope speaks for the Catholics, he does not speak for all branches of Christianity. Some regard his office as a sham and Catholics as nonbelievers. Whoever he opens a dialog with, some people on the Christian side will be offended. Not much different that Shia and Sunii, really.
8. Incompatible
67cj5 ,   USA   (09.25.06)
Why dialogue? What is there to talk about? The Pope cannot respect what he does not believe. He cannot call for his Church to accept any Islamic beliefs. Islam and Christianity are diametriclally opposed, if one is correct the other is incorrect, There is nothing to talk about! Neither can ever accept the others beliefs. Both sides if they truly believe their doctrine should do all they can to convert the other, but can never ever accept the other religion. To do so is to admit the other is correct. Christians can however accept Muslims as wayward children of God who have yet to accept his word, just as they accept other religions and non-believers. But, apparently Muslims can accept nothing less than immediate and unconditional submission of all Infidels. Submit or die! A very savage war is coming if the west is willing to fight for its beliefs, or non-beliefs whatever the case may be. If not we can just roll over and take what is coming to us.
9. Reciprocity in all spheres..Eeh...Who? Wah? Wa?
Josh   (09.25.06)
Double talk doubled. When will the Muslims offer a reciprocal relation in even one sphere? The Pope knows they hear the double talk which will only instigate the Muslims but he also knows the Christians will likley give him cudos for "trying". If it were me as the leader of Oz, I would certainly not even give the issue the time of day – but that is a Hasus of a different color. I can only image what a fanatical Muslim group would interpret from this. In a prophetic seness, their will be a further escalation of terrorist/Christian war.
10. SMART
BORUCH HOFFINGER ,   BROOKLYN NY   (09.25.06)
B'H If the Moslems were smart they would start a media blitz showing all the violence the church has perpetrated against Moslems and Jews over the past 1,000 years.
11. NOT GOOD FOR MAN TO BE ALONE
BORUCH HOFFINGER ,   BROOKLYN NY   (09.25.06)
B"H Does the Torah (Bible) say that it is not "good for man to be alone," or "it is not good 'that' man is alone?" The Torah says the second (check it out). The Pope and others like him (certainly more if they don't act normal and marry) start thinking they are G-ds. No man is "G-d", some are G-dly, but no man is G-d. Idolatry, pure and simple. Jewish sages say, non-Jews can believe in "shutfoos", a go-between between man and G-d. Haven't we had enough? Time for the "real thing" now, no?
12. get a back bone stick to your own words
MEI 1   (09.25.06)
13. Courageous Pope
Saul ,   Barcelona   (09.25.06)
The pope is only doing what every leader and politician in the world should be, but lack the courage to do. He is simply calling attention to the fact that there are issues within the Moslem worldview which are incompatible with non-Moslems, causing conflicts in every point where Moslem and non-Moslem cultures meet. With demographic, economic, political, environmental, etc., changes these conflicts tend to grow. So far the standard reaction from the Moslems was to blame everyone else for their conflicts, and shut up any dissent, whether internal or external. The reaction from the politicians in the "west" has taken the form of either spineless appeasement from the Left, or harsh chauvinistic rhetoric from the right. If you look at it, the pope is the only person of such level of authority who could initiate any meaningful dialogue. Any one else would either not be taken seriously, or eaten alive, or both. "Any new idea, Mahound, is asked two questions. The first is asked when it is weak: WHAT KIND OF AN IDEA ARE YOU? Are you the kind that compromises, does deals, accomodates itself to society, aims to find a niche, to survive; or are you the cussed, bloody-minded, ramrod-backed type of damnfool notion that would rather break than sway with the breeze? - The kind that will almost certainly, ninet-nine times out of a hundred, be smashed to bits; but, the hundredth time, will chage the world. 'What's the second question?' Gibreel asked aloud. Answer the first one first." Salman Rushdie The Satanic Verses
14. #10: They Already Have a Media Blitz Working
emanon ,   USA   (09.25.06)
That is why the majority of the world wrongfully sees Israel as the agressor and the US as the most dangerous nation on Earth. They already refer to anything Christian as Crusader, so their media blitz of lies is already in motion there too.
15. 5 Did you miss the burning to the ground
freedom ,   canada   (09.26.06)
of the five churches in the west bank.. What a bunch of crooks Hamas...
16. #7 Pope should leave well enough alone
Jody ,   USA   (09.28.06)
The Pope speaks for all christian religions. The Catholic chursh is indeed - catholic - universal. All Christian denominations do look up to him as their spoksperson - for morals especially - because he speaks and lives the Gospel message - this is not to be taken lightly - He has indeed layed his life down to preach and spread the Good News (Gospel message) this is Christ's message. The message of Truth. What Christian can argue with this. YES - the Pope should speak out! He is the Leader of all Christian denominations. This is what leaders do - THEY LEAD! LONG LIVE BENEDICT XVI
